Mark and Caroline Collie leaned on the power of prayer and praise as their 8-year-old son Blake battled a life-threatening aneurysm.
He was in so much pain, he just didn't want me to touch him.
He starts crying. He's getting very agitated. He couldn't lay back.
Mark and Caroline Colley's eight-year-old son, Blake, had been playing in the neighborhood pool
just a few minutes when he was struck by a crippling headache.
When he started throwing up, that's when I said, we're going to the ER.
By the time they arrived at the closest emergency room in Washington, North Carolina,
Blake was unresponsive.
I immediately turned to God and just, please, Lord, please don't let this be
the last day that we have this child with us.
A CT scan showed Blake had a massive brain hemorrhage.
He was airlifted to Maynard Children's Hospital in Greenville, North Carolina, for emergency surgery.
We immediately got onto social media. Please, please pray for Blake.
God, this is big. No matter what happens, I'm going to turn to you.
At Maynard, neurosurgeon Dr. Richard Dahlia explained that Blake's most immediate danger
was the growing pressure on his brain.
Blake was very sick, and there was a high likelihood
that this would be a life-threatening hemorrhage.
It was deep in his brain, and it was filling up the fluid pockets,
the ventricles that we have in our brain.
That was Blake's initial extreme injury that needed to be fixed emergently.
Dr. Dahlia's team installed drains in Blake's skull
to help remove excess blood and relieve the pressure.
After the procedure, Mark and Caroline were able to see their son,
now in a medically-induced coma.
You go from a bright young lad standing before you,
and the next moment he's lying in an intensive care unit
with so many lines coming in and out of him, but just so glad to see him there. He's alive.
The next day, Dr. Dahlia found and successfully removed the source of the bleeding.
An arteriovenous malformation, or AVM, had ruptured and caused a stroke.
However, the pressure on Blake's brain was still
critically high, and it would take weeks to drain the excess blood.
There's a range of possibilities. When somebody that's that sick,
they could not survive, you know, they can do very well.
And then there's, unfortunately, with neurologic injuries, there's a lot of gray area.
There's a lot along that spectrum with how people can do,
how paralyzed they are, what kind of functional status or cognitive status.
We were just saying, okay, what are we praying for today?
What are we trusting God for today?
Let's worship him, and let's pray for that thing today.
We were very much aware that we might lose our son.
But you kind of take that thought, and you put it on a shelf, and you don't look at it again.
And then you pray, and you believe that God is good, and then He's working this out for your good.
By now, people all over the world were praying for Blake, including members of his medical team.
You just pray for miracles, because this family
had been through so much, and you just want a miracle.
He actually had some very dark days, and I was praying very fervently on the way into work.
By day 16, Blake was stable enough for an MRI.
It showed signs of brain damage, which could mean Blake may never walk, talk, or see again.
It was like a gut punch. It was, it took us to our knees.
And just upset, and so sad, and so afraid that we had prayed, and it was all for nothing.
Even then, they continued praying through the night for a miracle.
He'll do better than what the MRI seems that he should be doing.
And if we could just get a thumbs up.
Now, the whole time knowing that I didn't truly think that Blake was capable of that.
And I went into a respiratory closet, and I just sat there, and I just prayed,
and prayed, and then I said, okay, we can get to the rest of the night.
I was going to keep believing until there was no scrap of hope left to hold on to.
We're going to fight until there's nothing left.
The following day, Dr. Dahlia brought Blake out of the coma just enough to examine him.
He said, hey, Blakey, can you give me a thumbs up? And his hand just went like this.
And I did the classic, I can't believe this just happened.
And I just screamed at, because no one knew I had prayed for that, right?
I screamed out like, oh, bright sky.
There was just so much hope inside that one tiny little gesture.
Over the next few days, Blake continued to improve.
And doctors were able to remove the drains.
He would spend the remainder of his 48-day hospital stay in therapy,
relearning how to walk and talk and regaining his motor skills,
a process that continued for months after he went home.
By all reports, his progress was amazing.
You know, he should have had all kinds of delays.
And the fact that he can do everything that he can do now,
it's amazing, and it's nothing short of a miracle.
Today, there's nothing holding Blake back.
His family is grateful for the expert medical care,
the prayers of people near and far, and the love of God.
I learned the power of praying in a way that says, God, this is what I've hoped for.
But at the same time, praying, that will be done.
I think that prayer is an attitude of life.
It's welcoming Jesus and the Holy Spirit and God into your life at every moment.
Amen.
God is so good.
He is so good.
When He heals us, He doesn't just halfway heal us.
He doesn't just 75% heal us.
No, it's 100%, no repercussions.
The Lord heals.
He wants to heal you in whatever you're struggling with today.
He wants to heal you.
All you have to do is believe it.
Believe it today.
Okay, we've got a good report that's come through Instagram.
A viewer writes in, a year ago, I started chemo for stage three cancer.
I just finished my last radiation, and by His stripes, I am healed.
Praise to our glorious God.
Amen, and we had another viewer write in a praise report.
This one is from YouTube, and Rachel writes, God healed my marriage,
healed me of extreme dizziness that remained from a brain surgery,
and restored to me my community.
God also healed me from depression in 2010, and I am still free today.
He has risen.
He is the Son of the Living God, and there is still resurrection power available.
Yes, and amen to that, Rachel.
That is amazing.
Yeah, let's straight out of the Bible.
The resurrection power, the same power that raised Jesus from the dead, where is that?
Well, according to the apostle Paul, I think he's pretty trustworthy.
According to him, that resurrection power is in you.
Why is it in you?
Because the Holy Spirit has placed it.
That same power that raised Jesus from the dead is in you.
You don't have to go up to heaven to get it.
You don't have to go below the earth to get it.
You don't have to go on a 40-day fast to get it.
You don't have to do any of those things.
It's in you.
It's right near you.
What is it?
It's the word of faith.
Now, in the beginning was the Word, and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.
Then that Word became Emmanuel, God with us, God in us.
All we have to do is speak that Word of faith.
Who is the Word?
Well, it's Jesus.
Has that Word become incarnate?
That's a real funny theological word, but it means Jesus in the flesh.
So Jesus walked the earth.
He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Then He went back to the Father.
What's He doing right now?
He's praying for us.
He ever lives to give intercession for us.
And then He has given us the breath that created us.
He's given that to us, and He's given us His Word.
Now, is Jesus still the Word?
Yeah.
If that Word is in you, and it comes out of your mouth,
does it have the same power?
That's a good question to ask.
Does it have the same power?
Now, if you're thinking it doesn't, think again.
His Word is eternal.
Jesus says, the words I speak are life.
They are spirit.
When we say those words, miracles can happen.
All we have to do is believe it.
Get all in with it.
Don't say there's some kind of separation between you and God.
The wall of separation has been taken away.
You are a child of God.
Jesus is a child of God.
He's the begotten Son of the Father.
You have been breathed into existence by God.
That same power, same resurrection power is in you.
How do you release it?
You speak it.
So, we're going to pray.
We're going to speak healing, and then after we pray,
we're going to command healing, because that Word has power.
Believe this.
Join with us, and let's see miracles today.
Lord, we lift everyone to you right now.
We come boldly to the throne of grace,
and we proclaim that your power is available to all who believe.
These signs shall follow them who believe.
They shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
So, Lord, I lay hands.
We together lay hands on that area of the body that needs healing.
We speak out loud to it.
Be healed now in Jesus' name.
By the authority given to us by the risen Savior,
we speak healing, life, liberty to every cell in our bodies now.
We receive it now in Jesus' name.
Ashley, God's giving you something.
Yeah, I believe someone's watching.
You are not able to speak.
For whatever reason, you are not able to speak any words.
The Lord is giving you, He's healing you of that right now.
You're gonna be able to speak and just say the name of Jesus.
Do it right now.
Receive that again.
You will be able to speak again in Jesus' name.
There's someone, you're actually being filled with the Holy Spirit,
and you're just feeling this incredible surge of energy deep within your being.
Just let that energy come forth.
Begin to praise Him now in Jesus' name.
Amen and amen.
That's all the time we have.
If you need prayer, we're here for you.
All you have to do is pick up the phone and call us.
