Why does Amsterdam turn orange every year
And what's one of the cities
where the most exciting neighborhoods await discovery
You'll figure it out
I think there's a very good
chance that you've had a
Heineken beer in your life Heineken is a Dutch beer
and you can experience Heineken here in
Amsterdam housed in the
original Heineken brewery
This interactive museum takes
you through the history of this
iconic brewery where you learn
more about the brewing process
and the companies rise to world-class status
As you walk through the historic building
learn how four simple ingredients
water beer cups and bread
coming together to create Heineken's famous taste
The experience builds up at the vibrant Skybar
where you can enjoy a Heineken
or perhaps two
with a view of the city
The Heineken experience
is located in the heart
of the Pijp One of Amsterdam's most unique
eclectic neighborhoods Originally designed in the late 19th
century
to maintain a growing working-class population
The Pijp has since evolved into a vibrant
in a multicultural area
Over the decades
became a haven for artists immigrantsstudents
free thinkers A diverse mix
that still defines their
character today
One of the neighborhood's greatest highlights
is the Albert-Kuip Market
During the year 1905
this iconic open-air market
spreads along Albert-Kuip Street
and it's an experience unlike any other
Residents and visitors alike
came here for everything from
fresh produce and flowers to
street food and vintage clothing
on Dutch streets like the stroopwafel
and odd herring
Beyond the market
de Kuip is packed with cozy cafés
international restaurants and late-night bars
If you're looking for flowers
you absolutely must visit the Flower Market
This is the only
floating flower market in the world
It's a lovely place to
stroll through offering
a wide variety of flowers plants and souvenirs
There are some special days in the Netherlands
For example
King's Day on April 27th
On that day
celebrates King Willem-Alexander's birthday
and Amsterdam naturally turns orange
There are street parties and markets
and sometimes it's so crowded
that it's hard to walk through the city
What's the best time to visit
I think the spring season
April May and June
Temperatures between 10 and 20 degrees Celsius
Otherwise the summer season
July and August
with temperatures ranging from 15 to 30 degrees Celsius
And of course longer days
