A Service Member Surprises His Kids at School

My name is Staff Sergeant Joshua Rasmussen. Just got back from Afghanistan. It's a completely different world in here. Just to come back here and be able to walk around my house with no shoes on, take a shower without having to wear flip-flops, just the little stuff that everybody takes for granted. Today we are at Moberly High School, and we're going to surprise my oldest daughter, Tori. She doesn't know I'm back. I had to kind of give her a little white lie and let her know that I'd be back Friday. She's going to be totally shocked. And she's probably going to crush me with hugs, I guarantee it. You ready? I'm a little nervous. I haven't seen them in nine months besides on video chat and stuff like that. And just to be able to—I know they're going to mob me. And then they're going to probably talk my head off, so I'm ready for that. Hi, baby. That was awesome. She reacted about the way I thought she was going to. The look of surprise on her face for the first, I don't know, probably 15 seconds was worth it. I saw my mom, and I was like, what is she doing with the camera crew? And I was like, what's going on? And then I saw my dad. I was like, whoa! Thank God she's safe. I'm just glad he's home. How you doing, buddy? Happy, excited, overjoyed. Oh, my God.
