Hey everybody, I'm NASCAR driver Carso Savar.
I'm doing over 1,000 miles this weekend at the Daytona 500.
I'm in the truck, the O'Reilly Series, and the cup car.
Also, I run the duel on Thursday.
So four races and four nights.
I'll be on track every night.
Welcome to one of the signature events in sports.
If you could win this race,
you can change your name forever.
So tune in and let's follow along.
Let's go.
Ultimately, I want everybody in the world to love NASCAR.
It's getting very sappy,
but I think it's super important.
You know, I had this dream of being a race car driver
and got there.
You know, I just love seeing kids get so excited
knowing that they might not forever just be a fan.
I never got an autograph from Dale Jr.
because he was always so busy.
I remember seeing him here at the 500
and seeing how everybody slammed him
and thinking like, dang, like, you know,
just seeing how many people care about him
and, you know, his impact is wild.
Marcian Hosovar in the 77.
Some smoke rolled up out of that truck.
It's coasting back to the garage area.
The gear broke and then the driveshaft fell out
and everything.
So not great.
This didn't take me out of the race.
You know, this is a fully funded program.
You know, we didn't come here to create a savings account.
We came to race.
So they're going to fix it up
and you would be none the riser
if you didn't even get known about this.
We do intros before dual one.
And so I'm going to go do intros.
I'm in tennis shoes right now.
And I sit here for two hours.
Dual one.
And then dual two, I think I get to go.
It'd be overwhelming
if there was just like a lock crammed in a little spot.
But the fact that it's literally just the whole weekend,
it's honestly so busy.
You don't realize how busy you are
because you're just literally on go wide open
the whole time.
You're just running.
Which I guess, therapeutically,
it probably makes the racing side
seem a little chaotic.
The most calm I am is the second I get in the car
because nobody's around me.
It's just me.
I'm not passing the car until we hit it.
Yeah.
Or until maybe like just before fifth road.
So I have more fuel and I have traffic.
What business exactly?
Like there's nothing getting me off my plate.
You know what I mean?
Like sometimes you like to, you know, get going.
Yeah.
You know, you hate riding.
Yeah.
So just, no, it's not like a, you know.
No, no, that's my place.
Like I'm not worried where you are
until after the pit stop.
You know what I mean?
It's a lot nicer.
Yeah.
I've been around a lot of people.
You know, if I go walk in the grass,
nobody's allowed to go out there.
I just started looking at all the cars
and wondering who's going to race,
who's not, or who's not going to be very good.
And going through like thoughts and ideas.
Duel two, 150 miles, 60 laps.
Three, two, one.
Carson Josevar, the new race leader
at the end of the pit stop.
Eight laps to go.
Josevar goes to the top of the lane to block.
He'll dive for the bottom at the start finish line.
Puts the block on Chase Elliott.
Elliott will have none of it.
One lap to go.
Who's going to pull out a line first?
You see those first two cars.
With a massive push from Carson Josevar.
To the line.
Checkered flag is high in the air.
Chase Elliott will win duel race number two.
Carson Josevar will come across the line
and finish second.
He wasn't staying connected enough.
He wasn't lifting.
Maybe he was breaking away.
Yeah.
We could've went faster.
Yeah.
My push is better than anybody.
Yeah.
I'm glad I hit it when I did.
How did your car drive?
Really good.
That's smart.
Yeah.
Smart driving there.
Thank you.
You win on Sunday.
I think so.
We're really good at pushing.
Like super fast.
You were really smart.
Thank you.
Good job.
I appreciate it.
Thanks.
Hey, see you in the 500, pal.
That's right.
See you in the 500.
I'm not even like happy.
I'm just feel like I'm super prepared
for the 500 realistically.
I don't know.
It's a weird feeling.
And that's probably not the most entertaining.
So I'm sorry about that.
But it is fun.
And I'm going to enjoy this looking back.
I think tonight's proves we could do it on an elite level.
And the way I do it, still not wrong.
So you need gas?
Very fast.
It goes fast?
Yes.
I didn't know.
I know.
Well, yeah.
You started it.
I thought I broke it.
It says NASCAR on it.
You should be able to charge them, I think.
Mike White on it.
Left on the white line.
Savar, you know this young man's fast.
One of my picks to win the Daytona 500.
Ah, it's just cup experience right there.
That's cup experience right there that I qualify.
Couldn't be matched.
I was so happy with my run until he finished in front of me.
I was like, I'm ahead of Tony Stewart.
I'm like, Cleetus is ahead of me.
I'm like, oh, come on.
Let me ask you this.
When I went in to turn one,
I kind of like early apexed it on my fast lap.
And instead, like, I knew I needed more wheel
to keep it down, but I just let it come up.
I did that.
I did that a little bit.
Does that hurt you more?
I think it's better to like, not be,
like, if you're going to miss it, miss it smoothly.
Like, if you're going to get in and go,
oh, I hit the apron.
Can you unwind a little bit?
I think it's okay.
Because you'll kind of get it back
if you turn down the hill a little bit.
I wasn't going to hit the apron.
I was going to weigh up.
If you're way up, that'll hurt you.
All right, so I should,
I'd be better to just go to the line.
Go to the line.
I just didn't want to put any in it.
I just kind of let it gently come back down.
You got to move those wrists, man.
Oh yeah.
With the wrists.
You keep talking about the wrists.
Got to roll those wrists.
Barson's big on wrist action.
Yeah.
It's all in the wrists.
It would be fun if we were in a race that you won, too.
Like, I'd be happy for you.
Dude, we'd be coming to visit.
Can I do a burnout with you if you win?
Yeah.
If any of us win, we're doing a burnout.
Okay.
All right, deal.
Can we make that deal?
That's a great deal.
All right, lock that in.
Right away.
Lock it in.
Go like this.
There we go, we're good.
All right, that's it.
That was weird.
No, no, no.
All you did was lock it in.
I don't know.
It's just weird, man.
It's just like that.
All right.
Cup Garage.
Time for cup practice.
They say it's five laps,
but it's always normally more.
I can push all of them in cup.
You know, even the worst guy,
I could shove him and he's going to hold onto it.
Coming out of turn four, side by side.
Carson Hosovar wins stage number one.
Yeah, here, they're a lot more unpredictable.
They might zig when I expect them to zag,
and it's actually harder.
They're not making the wrong move.
They're just making the unpredictable move.
Carson Hosovar trying to avoid disaster.
Around they go.
The 77s had his day.
Finished up in trucks.
Fortunate results,
but went through a lot of adversity there.
You know, on to tomorrow.
Good Saturday morning from Daytona Beach, Florida.
Right now, it's qualifying.
I'm hoping today goes better
with trucks a little bit more serious.
This one, I mean, I have my boss spotting for me tonight.
He hasn't done it in a long time,
so it's going to be fun.
And I've never done this car in a super speedway,
so we're at one lap.
Got experience doing that more than everybody this week,
so it's going to be fun.
I mean, no matter what race for Daytona, it's big.
No matter what series.
It should be a lot easier now.
Like, nobody's ever going to be anywhere close
to pushing you like yesterday.
Good luck, pal.
Thanks, buddy.
I'll see you when you win.
Are you here supporting Clayton?
Hey, he's doing good.
Okay, I'm going to have you test the mic.
Say your name, car number.
Carson Hosovar, number 77, Spire Motorsports.
It would also help to hold the mic to your mouth.
Sorry. It works.
I forgot this is my mic because I already have one on.
So since it's Valentine's Day,
fill out some Valentines to hand out to some fans.
Spiderman Valentines?
Perfect.
So we got two, my number one fan,
two, an avid Chili supporter,
and two, a Kyle Busch hater.
Perfect.
Hopefully someone's my Valentine.
Can you hear me?
I think he can hear me.
I don't know anybody here.
Everybody's got their clicks.
Guy's in the shot.
Unbelievable.
Trying to film a YouTube video here.
They wreck a lot in this race.
It tends to work out that way.
So I'm just going to take it easy the first stage,
build into it,
and then hopefully be one of the 12 cars at the end.
The debut for the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series.
Oh, we got a check on the back.
And just like that,
Leland caution lights are on here at Daytona.
And they're wrecking in turn three,
a caution number five.
But a lot of cars heavily damaged
as a result of this crash.
And here we go.
Another crash.
Hosabar going for a slide.
That was soft, huh?
I did it.
I mean, ultimately,
my life doesn't even change if I won this race,
but we would have been really excited if we won.
Unfortunately, we tore up a race car,
but we'll go again at some point.
Rough go of it this week.
The duel went good though.
We finished second.
So we start sixth for the Daytona 500.
Tomorrow's a new day.
Golden goose.
That one's important.
Now we run.
The only superstition I have is a coffee.
I have to go get a coffee in the morning.
And I haven't done it all week
except for the duel which is in a second.
But we're getting this coffee
so we can have a shot to win the Daytona 500.
This is the most important thing we did all day.
We're just trying to get ready,
carry on what we worked on in the duels the other day.
So trying to adjust for today's temperature.
It's gonna be a little bit hotter.
Generally feel like we're in a good spot
based on where we were in the duels the other night.
It's fun.
I enjoy it.
You know, we have a good time.
I see a ton of potential in him.
I know he's a tremendous talent
and I've seen that time and time again.
And we're just trying to, you know,
work with him and guide him through that.
But we have a lot of fun
and I'm looking forward to winning the race today.
What was it like for you guys to be in the truck race?
We were shaking and baking.
Oh, I'm tired.
Okay, you pull in triple duty.
Are you tired yet?
No.
No, okay.
I've enjoyed it.
The 500 just keeps getting bigger.
I mean, they were sold out a long time ago too.
Yeah, which is great.
Yeah, it is.
What are you starting for?
Six.
Michael is behind you, right?
Yeah, I got wrecked lap five last, my rookie year.
And then last year, the fuel pump went bad at lap six.
Packed house in Daytona Beach
as we get set to go with the great American race.
You know how important this race is to your race team,
to yourself, to your legacy,
to everything that you do as a NASCAR driver.
This is the biggest race that you can win of the year.
Cowabunga, dude.
Bart's gonna wave the green.
And the 68, Daytona 500, takes the green flag.
And those 10 drivers right there
will collect the 10 stage points for stage one.
Josevar is the one Chevrolet
that has fought its way to the front
along with his teammate, Daniel Suarez, in the seventh.
Carson Josevar to third, dueling for second.
Well, we've talked about Carson Josevar
and how aggressive he is,
trying to keep himself in position with nine to go.
Josevar down to cover, back up behind McDowell,
coming to two to go.
Josevar's swapping back and forth,
looking for a hold as he shoots to the bottom.
Carson Josevar has the lead of this race.
This is one lap to go.
This is the one you want to lead.
If the caution comes out, it's over.
Josevar in the wall, turned around in front of the field.
Around goes Jones.
Tyler Reddick comes to the line.
Wow.
A shower of sparks behind him.
Daytona proves yet once again,
it's all about the last lap.
That's the only lap that you have to lead.
There is your Daytona 500 champion, Tyler Reddick.
It all started right here
when Tyler Reddick pushed Josevar out to the lead
and then Reddick goes,
or Josevar goes to the top of the racetrack,
off center again,
and 47 pushing the 43 just shoves him out of the way.
Damn it.
We gotta be doing it.
Everything we did was right.
I wish Michael didn't think I was going to bottom.
I gotta be grounded.
He turned left.
I was like, I didn't want to pass you.
You know what I mean?
Leading at the white.
This is getting huge.
We did everything right.
We weren't leading at the white by coincidence.
I know.
It's on purpose.
You got red.
That would have been pretty cool.
First two 500s, I didn't finish.
Third one, had a shot to win leading at the white flag.
Damn.
I was good until I remembered,
I tried to call my dad and pre-race.
I hadn't talked to him all week and he didn't answer.
And so I just left a voicemail basically.
I said, we're going to win and then hung up.
So we almost won.
Yeah.
There will be more races and more 500s.
Yeah.
Thanks for following along.
All right.
I'm going to go back to North Carolina.
Thanks for watching.
