Hi everyone, my name is Onumita. I'm a fifth year life science student with a minor in psychology
at the University of Ottawa and today I'll be taking you along with me on a typical day on
campus. You'll get to see student life, studying, and a bunch of other things. So yeah, let's get
started. All right, so now I'm all zipped up and I need to get to class because I'm running late.
I almost forgot my camera.
So I picked up my order. I need to work with your friends,
study together on campus. So right now I need to work on at least getting started. Yeah.
Hi, so I actually have another one of my friends with me here. We want to say another.
This is the first one. I'm the first one. I'm actually on our own.
Unfortunately. So do you want to introduce yourself?
No, I don't. Okay.
My name is Zach. I'm a third year computer science and mathematics here
at the University of Ottawa. Yay. So we actually know each other from our work.
Okay. Yes, we do. That's what we're going with. Yes. From our student ambassador work,
which is a work-study thing that we both are part of at the University of Ottawa.
Yeah. What would you say is like your favorite experience in UOttawa?
Actually being part of the ambassador team. That's pretty cool.
Like you and other cool friends. But I think what I like the most is the intramurals. So I'm a guy
who likes to play sports. I've played sports all my life. And now every Monday I play volleyball
with a group of friends and every Friday I play soccer. So yeah. That's actually so fun. Yeah. I
remember in my first year I did dodgeball and then I continued that second year as well. And
then I did ultimate frisbee my third year. But then I'll watch out for her. She has a good point.
No, but for the past few years, I haven't got a chance to get involved with intramurals.
She's the president of the boxing club. So don't don't take it for granted.
Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Well, thank you for doing this little interview.
Thank you so much. It's nice meeting you.
Hi, everybody. My name is Honja. I'm a fourth year nursing student. I'm also in the French
Immersion Program. Hi, guys. I'm Romy. I'm in my third year in a Bachelor of Science in Psychology
and I'm also in the French Immersion Program. Perfect. So what's your guys' favorite UOttawa
experience that you have had till now? So as a nursing student, I have a lot of clinical
placements. So a lot of the stuff I'm doing for school isn't actually on campus. So I get to do
a lot of in-practice learning. So something recent that just happened to me, we practice inserting
IVs on fake mannequins and stuff in labs. But I inserted my very first IV for my first try at a
real patient last week. So it was really exciting. And they're still alive. Yes. That was the goal.
For me, I'd probably say my favorite experience at UOttawa has just been being part of the clubs.
I'm part of the UOttawa Dance Club and I love being part of the dances. I, myself,
am actually choreographing. So it's really exciting. And then we have our big recital
in March. So I'm just looking forward to that. Oh, that's so exciting. Thank you, guys. Thank you.
So I just dropped off a thing off to the M office and said hi to my
other ambassador friends. And now I'm going to be heading off to grab lunch.
Thank you. It really looks nice. Yes, you look great. Trust me. Thank you so much. Have a good
day. Bye. Oh, my God. It's so good. It's so good. These are the four friends with chili oil and
they're really good. Hi. So I'm actually here with Amber and we met in the science association.
But right now, what class are we in, Amber? We're in molecular biology,
BCH 3170. Yes. And what's your favorite thing about this class or what do you like about this
class? My favorite thing is how passionate Professor Raja Kumar is when he's teaching
this class. He is honestly very passionate and he loves his content. So, yeah, we're excited
for the class today. All right, cute. So who do we have here? My name is Victoria. I'm assistant
coach and VP internal. My name is Anika. I'm VP events. My name is Nisha. I am a coach and social
media manager. My name is Muad and I'm the webmaster. My name is Omar and I'm VP finance.
Perfect. So I'm here with Anika. I'm going to give a quick introduction. Hi, my name is Anika.
I'm a fourth year criminology student with a minor in psychology. Yay. So we actually know
each other from boxing club, hence our shirts. But what has been like your favorite experience
or part of the university so far? I think during my four years, I've been part of the
UOttawa softball team and I'm a catcher and an outfielder for that team. And I think being
able to foster like a good team dynamic has been really impactful on my university experience.
And it's honestly really fun to like actually see her in the matches as well.
And even on our GD's rec account, you guys can see the softball team and follow their
progress and everything. Yeah. All right. OK, bye. Hi, I'm Ben. I'm a master's student at the
OK, how do you guys know me? I know Anika since my first year as a participant in the UOttawa
boxing club. I know Anika since I started coaching at the club two years ago. And what is your
favorite part about UOttawa, like your favorite experience? My favorite part of UOttawa is
definitely doing research and helping undergraduates and supervising them in their
projects for their thesis. Do you want to talk a little bit more about your research?
I study a degenerative eye disease called chlamydia, so I'm trying to model that in fish
and mice. I love UOttawa for the community. There is a lot of opportunity to get involved
with like, you know, various groups, various clubs. I was involved in the food bank,
UOttawa food bank, as well as UOttawa boxing club. So like I've been able to
meet so many new people that way and be able to help others.
Okay, so right now we're putting over equipment for the boxing club
at the SSA storage room. Okay, yay! So I'm actually right now in the SSA office with
the MGA, I'm the biofarm rep. And I'm Peyton, I'm the VP internal.
The reason why I'm here is because the boxing club was dropping off their equipment
and we dropped right off actually at one of the SSA storage rooms for the time being.
Very, very grateful for their free, free, free help. But that being said,
I think it would be a great opportunity for you guys to talk about the services that you offer.
So some of the services we offer for science students, we sell basically any lab equipment
you could ever need, lab coats, goggles, more like your model kits. We also rent a lot of it,
so if you don't want to purchase it, that's okay. We do printing. Our office is also just
like a space for science students to come hang out, talk with us and get closer.
Aside from like academic things, we host some fun events. We have our wine and cheese coming up,
which is a really fun event to network and connect with professors and students. And then
further on in the year, we have our science formal, which is like one big fun dance party
for all science students. Bye! And now I'm done for the day and now I'm going to be walking back
home. It's definitely been a long day and it is pouring outside. Oh, I really hope my umbrella
doesn't go away in the wind. I'll see you guys once I'm at Annex. So I'm finally home after
a really long day and usually by now I would be having dinner and either somebody has meal prepped
or I would go get food from outside if I didn't meal prep anything for that week. And I hadn't
meal prep anything for this week, but I did have some frozen food that I was going to make,
but my roommate, she came through and actually just ordered food for both of us. I'll be having
a jerk chicken bowl and it looks honestly very good. I've never tried this place yet,
so I'm excited to try the food. Yes. And after this, I'm probably going to go study with her
at the Annex study room and we'll probably also give you guys a tour of our Annex study room
because it's honestly a really nice place to come and study at. So I'm currently studying in the
Annex study room. It's on the second floor. It's actually a really nice spot to come and study if
you get sick of studying in your room. So there are actually two study rooms. The one that I'm
in right now, it's more of like a hangout room. So there are like two ping pong tables with actual
boards and ping pong balls. And there's a TV in the study room. Yeah, it's a really nice cozy
place as you see other people work here as well. And this is the other study room on the other
side. No one's using it right now, but yeah. So I've actually lived in Annex since my second year
in university and I've really enjoyed my experience here. It's a really nice place.
It's very central to the campus as well, although it's considered one of the off-campus residences.
But before that, during my first year, I actually lived in Henderson and I enjoyed my experience
there as well. It was a very fun time as a first year student. All right, so that's a wrap on my
day as a uOttawa student. Fridays are usually one of my more busier days, which is why you saw me
bouncing around a bunch of different places on campus and doing a bunch of different stuff.
But that being said, I hope you guys were able to learn a bit more about uOttawa and just the
different things that they have to offer. And yeah, if you see me on campus, say hi. Bye!
Okay, now just say how do you guys know me. We know.
Emily found us in the streets. Rescued us like lost puppies. She carried me all the way here.
Okay, again.
