what I eat in a week at my MOM's house in ITALY (village life)

Hi everyone today I'm going to show you what I eat in a week right here in my hometown in southern Italy My wonderful mom cooked almost every dish you'll see all local organic homemade and sometimes made by hand I hope you like it and feel all the love care and affection I pour into it every time I come home When I'm in Calabria I like to start my day at a pastry shop And this is actually my favorite place in Vibo Valentia—it's called Lo Schiavo I like it because it has a selection of pastries and my favorites are the ones with cream Most of these are cream pastries and some are special for Christmas Of course in Italy I like to start my day with a coffee I don't like putting sugar in my coffee and I prefer drinking it with milk So I usually order a cappuccino And this is called a cream puff We paid 6.70 euros in total and then we decided to head to the market for our pastry shop It's at the market where we buy all our fresh vegetables fruits sometimes cheese sometimes meat fish We also have supermarkets but the quality and freshness of the product at market is a bit superior Everything at market is local and organic and most of these Farmers know their products well and can explain to you where they come from It's not just a grocery cup—it's an experience We were buying some fresh eggs and the farmer was explaining everything to us I love going to the market especially with my mom and it's something I truly enjoy when I'm abroad We needed a fresh loaf which we buy every morning in Calabria So went to the bakery and I picked out this large round one We also bought a small slice of pizza which I decided to eat as an appetizer before the Eating This is the view from my balcony and these are all the vegetables we bought So for dinner my mom decided to make scampi pasta which is basically pasta with eggs and it's actually my favorite dish A little plate before eating why not I love the dish especially when it's fresh—I can't resist And there I was in my apartment trying to get myself organized machine to pick out a few things to take with me and I found this handmade little shoe fable My mom made this so I decided to bring it along Finally it's time to eat and my mom is preparing the pasta As you can see she's so experienced she doesn't even need a drying machine A bit of fresh bread and this is bread with duja a local product made from salt Chicken fat and pepper lots of pepper This is what duja looks like and please buy it when you're in Calabria or at the very least try it This looks like a mountain of pasta but in reality were just four people eating it So it was quite enough to feel satisfied—it was delicious In Italy pasta is a product of Calabria in Italy pasta is a product of pancetta Therefore the pasta is almost always served in a pan not in a bowl so you'll eat controlled portions In Calabria we love to finish our meal with a handful of fruit and something sweet Sometimes not always these were small nougats made by which is typical of Calabria I know it looks serious but it's just my dad writing how we wanted the cake for tomorrow night And this was my first lunch so a small pizza and cappuccino Then I wanted to see my childhood friends so went to a pastry shop And we had some cream-filled pastries and a pastry a lobster and a coffee I had a small appetizer before eating as usual And for dinner we had fileja Fileja is a traditional pasta dish from my region We had both the tomato pie and the bean pie fresh-made not from last night Calabria has always been Italy's poorest region so we've had plenty of legumes there especially beans By October I realized I was in Italy and still hadn’t had a fresh mozzarella So went to a dairy which is the place in Italy where we buy fresh cheese products And we decided to buy some fresh mozzarella some ricotta and some treccia Every time you buy fresh mozzarella in Italy make sure they give you this sweet water because it's crucial for keeping them fresh and delicious And this was the meal the fritter once more ricotta mozzarella braided bread tomato sauce fresh bread Good morning This was actually a very special day because it was the last day of the year So were getting ready for the big dinner were having that night This is the fresh béchamel my mother made I've decided to eat whole grain fruit for my health Please if you aren't already doing so
