Four foods for a better sleep.
My name is Sarah Jeffreys.
I'm a registered nurse with experience in ER education and sleep therapy.
And in this video, I'm going to tell you four foods
that are going to help you get a better night's sleep.
So number one is green pepper.
Now, peppers are unique in that they contain
one of the highest concentrations of vitamin C.
Now, vitamin C increases the amount of oxygen in the bloodstream.
When you're deficient in vitamin C,
your tissues don't receive the oxygen they need to function optimally.
So if you find yourself gasping for air as soon as you start climbing the stairs,
you may have a vitamin C deficiency,
which isn't the best when your body needs to be focusing on sleep
instead of getting your cells more oxygen.
Number two is molasses.
Unless you're trying to lose weight, you should avoid molasses.
But if you want, it's a fantastic source of potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron.
All of these minerals have sedative properties
that help relax the nervous system.
Perfect for sleep.
And number three is celery.
When celery stalks are consumed, the body will calm down
because celery contains a substance that can lower the blood pressure
and calm the central nervous system.
Number four is almonds.
Almonds are a source of magnesium.
Almonds help the heart beat in a regular rhythm
and relax the muscles in the nervous system.
All good when you're trying to sleep.
