We thought Phnom Penh was just a stop over. Wow it's so beautiful. But this city completely
surprised us. From luxury we did not expect to authentic experiences you cannot find anywhere
else. Phnom Penh is not what you think it is. But first let's talk about how we got here.
About to jump on this bus from Siem Reap. We took a luxury bus from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh
About six hours but honestly it was one of the most comfortable bus rides we've ever taken.
Reclining seats, lots of legroom.
Shorty has a lot of space. He even got a big mouth.
AC, Wi-Fi, food and snacks and an attendant. 25 minutes stop for bathroom break, snacks,
hang out, stretch your legs. So this is midway along the journey. Finally we arrive in Phnom Penh
just in time to enjoy some canaps and the sunset on Shangri-La's rooftop.
Getting a workout in early. You also have the sunrise hands in the back.
City views. Okay so the best part of the Shangri-La is the breakfast. Super extensive.
Look at this. You got your salads, your fruits,
your cold cuts, your hot stations,
your noodle station, a dessert station
and this beef noodle soup. The star of the show.

just a tourist site. The king of Cambodia actually resides here as well. There are only certain areas
that are open to the tourists. So we're going to show you around. Tourists cannot come in to see
and the king's residence is the one behind the yellow roof with a blue flag on the pole behind
the tree. So here you have the original painting from 1904 and it goes all the way around
over 600 meters. I think 644 meters.
Here you have the silver pagoda. So the silver because there are like 5 000 silver tiles inside
and each of those silver tiles are like a over a kilo each but you cannot show any film inside but
it holds a buku of silver and gold artifacts and the buddha like one of the buddhas inside it is
90 kilograms of pure gold. So no filming inside but really interesting. The most important but
probably the most difficult thing to see here in Phnom Penh. This was once a high school but
became a prison after the invasion by the Khmer Rouge and it's a place of torture of you know
killing. They are estimated up to 20 000 persons that were captured here and imprisoned there and
brutally tortured and then shipped off to the killing fields and was murdered. It's a very
important place but definitely a difficult visit. Oh it's just a mass of wooden cells here.
Wooden individualized cells. So lots of victims here. Some were former government officials,
some were professionals, some were ethnic minorities, religious minorities as well and
even purge members of the Khmer Rouge as well. Now if you want to feel Phnom Penh moving
you're going to want to come to the central market. From your live or fresh protein
into your fresh fruits and vegetables to your freshly prepared meals. Now this is a living
slice of Phnom Penh. Guys I'm in Phnom Penh at the brand new Shangri-La hotel. Now this hotel is
fabulous. I'm going to show you my room. I'm in a river view room, the Mekong river view.
54 floors so you have expansive views. Now when you get in you have a lounger here so that's
actually nice. I'm in a Mekong room so I'm overlooking the river view so you have expansive
views of the of the river and the city. Phnom Penh is more than a stopover. It is a city of resilience,
vibrant people, deep history and if you have not seen our Siem Reap video be sure to check that
out. Guys this KTI techno airport in Phnom Penh absolutely spectacular. Nice and new. Less than a
year old. Brand new airport, really modern, really comfortable. Yeah they're moving up.
