Perugia vs Trentino | Highlights | Supercoppa Italia 2026. The first semifinal of the Supercoppa Italiana di Pallavolo Maschile delivered a massive clash between two Italian giants – Sir Susa Vim Perugia and Trentino Volley! Played at the packed arena in Trieste, this showdown decided who would advance to the Supercoppa Final… and Perugia made a HUGE statement!
Perugia dominated the match from start to finish, winning in straight sets 3–0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-20) and showing why they are one of the most complete teams in Europe right now. From explosive serves to rock-solid blocking and clinical finishing, they controlled every phase of the game.
Wassim Ben Tara was unstoppable, leading the way with 21 points and delivering crucial spikes in every set. Oleh Plotnytskyi followed with 17 points, constantly putting pressure on Trentino’s reception with powerful attacks and aggressive serves. Roberto Russo added 10 points, contributing key blocks that completely shut down Trentino’s momentum.
Behind it all, Simone Giannelli orchestrated the offense with precision, distributing the ball perfectly and keeping Perugia’s attack unpredictable and efficient.
On the other side, Trentino struggled to find rhythm without their injured star Alessandro Michieletto. Théo Faure was their top scorer with 11 points, while Daniele Lavia tried to spark a comeback with service pressure, but Perugia’s consistency proved too strong.
This was not just another game — this was the Supercoppa semifinal, featuring the best teams from last season battling for the first major trophy of 2026. With this victory, Perugia advanced to the Final, where they will face Rana Verona in the gold medal match.
Perugia’s serving pressure, high attacking efficiency (nearly 60%), and disciplined blocking made the difference. Trentino had moments, but they were never able to fully break Perugia’s rhythm.
Was this a preview of another dominant season for Perugia? Or will Trentino bounce back stronger?
Watch the full highlights and relive every monster spike, ace, and block from this epic Italian volleyball battle!
Attackers coming at you on a good pass, all in the same tempo virtually and you've got to do
something about it. A bit easier when the ball is out of system like that. Blockers get a touch
but it's a good reuse from Lavier and it's a fine swing down the line from Théo Faure.
He gets to seven points. Again, nice work. Plotnitsky just smooth off the top of the
blocker's hands. He's not trying to be too flash at all today, Plotnitsky. He's done a very good
workman-like job out there at four. Lavier with his team a point down but two sets down.
Not a good connection between Gianelli to Crosato but the block is just phenomenal.
Now there's a lot of middles would be pondering and thinking about what's just happened but not
Crosato. He just got up, got on with it and closed that block beautifully.
She's mad on the sidelines but hits a good ball. Bentara still going and still going strong
even after getting smacked in the face by Théo Faure. He looks in good rhythm still.
Look at the quality of this set. Crosato to serve. This is getting edgy for Trentino.
Ramon off the blockers. Defended nicely. Tip gets the reuse just. Another one.
Where is Gianelli defending? He's not going to make his way back to his proper position.
Shoves Plotnitsky out of the way. While all that was going on, Trentino make the point.
Overall today, they're not making a strong enough point.
Other things around.
Strange set from Gianelli. It nearly worked.
Another system high ball. Bentara doesn't always look as comfortable on those.
He much prefers that tempo, that flatter set to the top of the antenna but he's done really well
with this. Good look through the net. Three blockers on him. He just taps it over the top
to the baseline. Have some of that. Flavio serves. Bentara released out of the back line.
That's a nice dig from Flavio. Weirdly low set to Rousseau but he seems to be enjoying
swinging on those. Tall man Roberto Rousseau but he's not got a massive jump. Can it work?
Hybrid serve. 100 point man Rousseau this season.
Defense. It's coming back. Well played Perugia. Oh goodness me. Fabulous stuff out of the back
line from Ramon and I think the challenge, the challenge from Perugia may see a point replayed
It's down.
We're not going to get to see that on the challenge. It is Trentino's ball.
Shoved down the line and wedged firmly between the arms.
Serve as well from four. Nicely dealt with. Perugia has hit well today. It's Bentara.
At all. It's a serve. In all honesty it doesn't feel like a situation they can get out of.
Should be a three-point lead here. It is smooth as you like. He's an absolute jack-in-the-box
Izole Plotnitsky. Watch him bounce here. Just a sideways one-pace run up and he's
fighting his own the wall but it's his job to try and turn things around
with the help of his team. That will help. Daniele Laviere. Another off pacer for the ace.
Clever. Plotnitsky then to follow the ace off the back of the timeout. It's a good serve.
Out of system swing for Ramon and he's out of luck. Or is he? He's okay. I didn't think
he made this but this is some swing. Oh yeah. Right in the corner. Marta has served well since
coming onto the court for Torbi. It's a brilliant pass. It's so good. It is so good. What centimetre
of the net tape would you like the ball on sir? Gianelli puts it there. Bentara is not going to
miss that. He's going to hit this ball with his eyes closed. It's going to get better for Perugia
here. This time they do control the free ball. Oh good effort to keep that live and Ramon attacks
really well. That's a hell of a get from Daniele Laviere. Oh what a pick up. Nice set from Spertoli.
Good realisation as well. Martino still pushing the off pace serve he's dealt with by Plotnitsky.
Bentara just too much on it down the line and poor old Gabriele Lorenzano is getting
frustrated. He's a real character Lorenzano but he's showing his frustrations now. He can't
find a way to help his team. At that pace you've got to make your decisions and stick with them.
Another ball through the middle. Slow and fast to do so. He's not bouncing it off the floor.
He's just connecting and finding the angles and the space.
Another four of those. Yeah that's the only way Trentino are getting out of trouble here.
Two match points saved there by the team in the white. Trentino off pace so well passed.
He doesn't go middle. Instead he goes wide to Plotnitsky and the finishing touch is applied.
Are into the 30th Del Monte Coppa. A supercoppa final and they are there
to try and win it. Four on the bounce. Fabulous performance from Perugia
as they put Itas Trentino away in straight sets here in semi-final one.
