This is 40 days of a baby fisher's lovebird's growth and development.
A complete journey of one of the world's most colorful and affectionate parrots.
From a blind, fragile hatchling to a playful, vibrant young bird.
All inside a protected zoo aviary, where every moment is carefully watched to ensure survival.
Welcome to the zoo aviary habitat.
Inside a bright glass-covered aviary filled with natural branches,
wooden nest boxes, soft grass flooring, and warm sunlight patches,
lives a tiny but incredibly energetic parrot, the fisher's lovebird.
With its bright orange face, vivid green body, bluish tail, and coral red beak,
this bird is famous for strong pair bonds, playful personality, and constant activity.
Today, we follow one baby from birth to 40 days of age.
A story of care, instinct, curiosity, and survival.
Day zero. Hatching inside a wooden nest box high above the ground, a tiny chick breaks out of its egg.
It is extremely vulnerable, completely featherless.
Unable to regulate body temperature, the mother immediately covers the chick with her body for warmth,
while the father brings food to the nest entrance.
Zookeepers observe quietly from outside, avoiding disturbance to ensure natural parenting behavior.
Day three. First signs of life.
The chick begins producing faint squeaks when hungry.
Day seven. Soft down appears.
A thin layer of pale down feathers starts covering the body.
Day ten. Eyes open.
For the first time, the chick sees light.
Day fourteen. Sitting upright.
The chick can now sit for short periods.
Day twenty. Curious nest explorer.
Curiosity rapidly increases.
Day twenty-five. Color transformation.
Bright orange face emerging. Green body feathers forming.
Distinct red beak.
