High Country Cow Elk for our Community- Nocks & Forks Experience

This past fall I drew a cow elk tag. I didn't draw hardly any tags I was honestly just on call for cancellations but this cow elk tag proved to be an awesome one because not only was it a tough hunt getting close to a cow and making an awesome uphill shot but we were able to put that cow to use in the first annual knocks and forks class that I hosted in Salt Lake City last week where I invited a bunch of unknowing guests that were part of the Knock-On Nation community since kind of the very beginning and people that were there for such a great cause. We hosted five awesome recipes using this cow elk and put on a heck of a feast for a big party. What an awesome way to utilize one of these cow tags. 50 yards up hill. We couldn't see it good yet. It was just barf. Pretty sweet. I got a cow tag and so we came in here. We actually were all the way over in that country herd bugling. Slept up on this logging road. There's elk way up there so we flanked up high as we're gonna go down and up and ended up down there. We can see him up here all these service berries feeding so we came up right through this gap right here crazy steep come right here there our shot was from that orange tree right there and maybe somewhere right there she was standing right here 50 yards uphill a heck of a slope 35 40 degrees and I don't know if she went straight up there there but I saw her around this corner so let's go where I saw her exactly where she let's follow this blood here she is there she is look at the blood cow there's the exit right there look at that exit what a perfect shot perfect shot and a perfect perfect cow I was so pumped to get a cow tag for this hunt because honestly I don't know maybe four or five years ago I drew a general tag in Montana and decided to use it on a cow and it was the best eating elk I ever had so when I got this cow tag I was all excited and I'm like I want a two to three year old cow just the absolute perfect perfect cow this year is just man did she really I mean that is massive exit and just beautiful cow right here
