Selena Gomez opens up about bestie Taylor Swift on husband Benny Blanco's new podcast, 'Friends Keep Secrets,' revealing which 'Folklore' track was written about her. She also fights back tears when describing 'Family,' an unreleased 'Reputation' song inspired by their friendship.
You're a big Taylor Swift music fan, I feel like.
I'm a big Taylor Swift fan.
I am a stan for life, for sure.
Well, that's an understatement.
Selena and Tay have been besties for nearly 20 years now,
and she's giving fans rare insight, see what we did there,
into their bond on husband Benny Blanco's new Friends Keep Secrets podcast,
confirming a folklore fan theory in the process.
Well, Dorothea is about me, one of her songs.
I feel like a lot of moments, huge moments, that were self-defining,
from relationships to family to love to hate, all of it in between.
We were figuring it out because I was 15 and she was 18.
And we didn't really know, like, what was going on.
And so we've never seen each other any differently.
That is the best kind of friendship you can have.
What I'm really grateful for is the lessons I've learned along the way.
And as far as the other song, Taylor Penn, for self?
It was over easily a decade ago.
Insinuating in the lyrics, without quoting it,
is basically saying you have these amazing dreams, you want to be in movies.
Like in every crowd, I still see you.
And then her part was, you know, you believe in my stupid dreams, like playing stadiums.
And now when I listen to that song, both of those things have happened for us.
And that's really sweet.
Because back then she was just like, I just wrote this song about us.
And it was just like our story, kind of.
And it was just the sweetest thing.
So I love it.
I'm really, really honored and just happy.
Well, we still haven't heard that song called Family,
but fans might get to take a listen to the reputation outtake
if we ever get those final two Taylor's versions.
Maximalism.
It's just a lot of a lot.
Every single day of my life.
What you just made me do, look what you just made me do.
