Diane Parry vs. Venus Williams | 2026 Indian Wells Round 1 | WTA Match Highlights

The crowd will absolutely dine out on those sorts of points, especially if she's getting the upper hand. That is a very fine first set from Diane Parry. She secures the opener by six games to three. That's sublime. What a change of direction she inflicted on Parry. It's a very enjoyable match. That was outstanding. And that's the end of one of them. Oh, fantastic. What an outstanding shot. Oh, a belter. Beautifully put away despite some fine court coverage from Parry. Great point and just what was needed. Oh my goodness. She's won the set. A wry smile from Parry as we go to a decider. Clear level. Beautifully placed it right into the corner. She worked very hard for that win. And ultimately, the third set was extremely comfortable for the Frenchwoman. But a great display from Venus Williams to force the decider, winning that very tough second set on a tiebreak. But it's Diane Parry who for the third time in her career beats a Grand Slam singles champion. She wins 6-3, 6-7, 6-1 and goes into round two.
