Hello welcome to "What's for Dinner Today "
Today I'm bringing you 4 super easy appetizers or bite-sized
snacks perfect for inspiration if you're planning your Christmas spread
For the first one we'll need bread crab
meat boiled eggs mayonnaise and a pinch of ground pepper
The first thing we'll do is cut some slices
from a baguette or loaf and toast them
Once we've toasted them we'll make the filling
We place the crab meat in a bowl you can find crab meat anywhere
Supermarket canned and very easy to find
A hard-boiled egg finely chopped one tablespoon
of mayonnaise and we'll also add a pinch of ground pepper
And we'd already have it ready—see how easy and quick that is
We place it on the bread and sprinkle a little freshly chopped parsley on top
We can prepare the filling in advance
just toast the bread and serve it at the last minute
Now for the second one equally easy
We'll need slices of sandwich bread tomato jam and anchovies preferably from Santoña
Better We cut the bread slices
into strips just like sandwich bread and we'll do the same here
We'll toast it for a few minutes either in the oven or the toaster
And when we have our slices of toast we just need to spread the jam on them
omato the one I'm using is tomato and basil jam
You can also do it with red pepper jam which is equally delicious
And we just place one anchovy on top of course if they're anchovies like the ones I have
I'm using Santoña anchovies from the Cantabrian Sea which
are spectacular and make a perfect bite
For the third bite or appetizer we'll also need some slices of toasted bread
Morcilla de Burgos caramelized onion and pine nuts
I'm going to show you how to make caramelized onions—they're incredibly simple
We'll slice the onion into julienne strips add a drizzle of oil to a skillet and proceed
Add the onion and cook it over low heat
Typically caramelizing onions takes over an hour but I'm
going to show you a trick to do it in less than thirty minutes
Add a pinch of salt and simmer everything over low heat
And now to speed up the process we'll add half a teaspoon of baking soda
We cover it and let it simmer on low heat for about 15 to 20 minutes
Halfway through cooking we stir it and notice
the onions are beginning to release their sugars and are now cooking evenly
We can caramelize the onions even a day or two in advance as they keep well
Keep it in the refrigerator transfer it to a container and store it for several days
When it takes on that characteristic color of caramelized onion the golden-brown hue of caramel
remove it from the heat
We just need to grill the rice
sausage slices for one minute per side and that's it
And now we place it on the bread add the blood sausage and top it with a little
We'll add the caramelized onions and finish it off with some pine nuts
It's a simple easy bite that tastes absolutely delicious
Now for our final appetizer we're going to make some ham chocolates
We'll need Iberian serrano ham cream cheese and some pistachios
The first thing we'll do is place a baking tray in the
oven and bake some slices of ham until they become crispy
And once we have it we'll chop it into tiny pieces and
this ham will serve as the filling for our chocolates
Now we're going to add a few spoonfuls of cream cheese like Philadelphia and stir it in
The chopped ham the crispy ham and we're also
going to add some shelled and chopped pistachios
We mix everything well and now to
shape the chocolates I'm going to use a typical silicone ice cube tray
We place a slice into each hole of our ice cube tray even if it sticks out a bit because
we'll close it up later
We place a teaspoon of the filling we
have—cream cheese ham and pistachios—into the wrapper and seal it
If it doesn't fit quite right at the end we can shape
it or trim a little bit once we remove it from the mold
We'll do it this way with all the ones we're preparing and once we have it we'll cover it
And we'll chill them in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before serving
Once those 30 minutes have passed we can easily unmold them
And as I've mentioned if there's any part left below or anything like that it can be trimmed
And there you have it—we’d already have 4 simple-to-make
appetizers skewers or canapés that are also very delicious
