Exactly how to go from $0-10k/month as a creative

So if you want to scale your creative business to 10k a month,
there are three things, just three things that you absolutely have to do.
And after scaling my own business to six figures and spending hundreds of hours
helping other creatives grow their businesses,
I fully believe that if you can get these three things done,
you will absolutely scale your business to 10k a month in revenue before the end
of the year. And the first thing works like this. So at the end of the day,
there are really only three approaches that you can take to even making 10k a
month.
And I think there is a very real lack of financial literacy and
creatives that comes through when we talk about big goals like this.
So I want to make this really easy for you.
The three approaches are as follows.
You can sell a lot of a low ticket product,
or you could sell a little of a high ticket product,
kind of market your work as a luxury good if you wanted,
or you can obviously mix and match right. And so a little bit of both.
And I know that sounds like brain dead obvious, like, Oh my God, Kelsey,
I am not a child, but you have to deliberately choose one of those three options.
Okay. Like it's not,
it's not a situation where you can kind of like stumble your way into it,
where you can be like, yeah, I'll just try stuff and figure out what works.
You have to have a plan. It will be so,
so much easier if you have a plan. And for a lot of you,
the approach that you pick of those three will not be decided by your art or
your products or how good you are at business.
It will be chosen based on your audience,
specifically the size of your audience,
because approach number one requires volume. It requires a lot of volume.
I actually think that approach number one for beginners can be really difficult
because you don't have the audience often, right?
You don't have like these systems in place.
You're not comfortable with sales yet, because if you do the math,
if you want to make 10 K and the average price of your products is $3,
you would have to move over 3000 individual units to make 10 K with approach
number one. That is really challenging for beginners.
That's why I wanted to say those approaches out loud and kind of put that in
your mind where you have to choose,
because otherwise you will set yourself up for failure immediately,
like right out of the gate failure.
Approach number one requires volume, lots and lots of volume.
Those 3000 units will be challenging for a beginner, right?
But if the average price of your products is $20 now you only have to sell 500
and like the math goes up like that, right?
You can sell a $10,000 product and just sell one of them.
That's totally valid. But I want you to think about this.
I want the approach that you choose to be a choice that you are making
deliberately because you understand the constraints or the pros and cons of
each. Yes,
charging a lot of money will be challenging confidence wise,
but you'll have to do less selling.
Whereas charging very little requires you to kind of sell a lot and kind of be
very out there and post all the time and it's much more challenging to do that.
So if your audience is really small or if your best sales month only ever
brought in one to 10% of that volume,
I really, really want to suggest that you rethink things.
And that's why the first thing you have to do to scale your business 10 K a
month is to launch a higher priced offer or to just raise your prices in
general.
And the thing is you are almost certainly already undercharging for your work.
And I say that without even having to know anything about your business or what
you sell or who you are because every creative that I have ever worked with is
almost always undercharging. And I used to do that too.
So years ago now when I was offering commissions for my original art,
I actually took a loss on some orders because I said that I would offer free
shipping and it was international and it ended up being way more than I thought
and I didn't have the confidence to be like, Hey, I'm sorry, I messed up.
I can't actually honor this.
And I didn't want to do that and it ended up just being way more expensive than I
realized. And so I took the loss personally.
And all too often creatives like us are pricing based on fear,
based on what we would pay, based on what we are comfortable with.
And we are so desperately searching for the validation of a sale,
any sale that we don't really do the math.
We don't do the math to figure out if our prices are actually financially
tenable longterm for our goals and our lifestyle. And that fear,
that insecurity, it is holding you back in a very real way. When you do this,
when you undercharge,
you are making it like mathematically impossible for yourself to hit your
financial goals without burning out. And by the way,
if you are watching this video before October 25th, 2025,
I will be hosting a free live event where I will give you the exact roadmap,
like what to do, when to do it to reach 100 K in your business.
And it'll be a really good time. Again, it's totally free.
I'll put the QR code somewhere on screen link in the description.
I hope to see you there.
So let's look at that math again because I really want to hammer this home for
you. So for simplicity sake,
I'm assuming that your revenue is entirely product sales.
Nothing else is coming in. So if your higher priced product is 50 bucks,
you would need 200 sales to hit 10 K that is 200 people saying, yes,
here is my money. Thank you.
Please that probably means in practice that you would need about 20,000 people.
I'm not kidding.
20,000 people seeing your stuff given that an optimistic conversion rate from
social media is around 1%. I have literally experienced this. Okay.
Like my whole business is I post videos and I sell stuff. Right.
And I have seen so many times that the conversion rates for emails,
selling an emails is around, you know, one to 3% selling in a YouTube video,
usually between like 0.01% to 1%.
It can be literally a 10th of a percent. That's why, again,
I want you to think about those approaches, right?
Pick the one that you're choosing very deliberately because the volume is going
to be really important. You have to think about conversion rates, right?
Like not everyone that sees your stuff is going to buy from you.
And that's why I always talk about how getting the right views is so,
so important, right? Because the higher you can make that conversion rate,
the more compelling your sales copy is,
the better a fit your product is for your audience,
the higher that conversion rate is going to be. And the also, you know,
smaller audience you would have to have to actually hit those numbers.
So that's really, really important. Like, please think about this.
But going back to raising our prices, if your product is a hundred dollars,
you would only need a hundred sales. If it's 500, you'll need 20, right?
Doing the math on this, thinking about, okay, what is the size of my audience?
Who are they like mostly comprised of? What kind of person are they?
And then what kind of offer can I create that is laser focused to that
person that is perfect for them?
The thing that I want you to get here is that the path to 10K gets
dramatically easier if you have just one product,
just one at a higher price point. Again, you can mix and match.
You can do whatever you want. It's your business, right?
But really think about having at least one higher priced product and making that
the focus of like 20% of your marketing efforts.
Just talking about that literally at all will help you achieve that big goal of
10K a month in revenue. I know some of you are thinking right now, okay, cool.
I will create this higher priced product and put it out there and that will,
you know, give me the results that I want and that's not going to work.
That is really actually not going to work at all because this insecurity that you
feel this deep seated lack of confidence that you have around sales,
around promoting yourself, it is self-sabotage.
You are holding yourself back in a very real way.
If you want to quit your job and make this big bet on yourself and your own
business, like you have been planning,
like you have been meaning to do for years now,
you have to stop the self-sabotage. So I want you to think about your work.
I want you to think about the love and the heart and the soul you are putting
into it. The years that you have spent building your skills.
I want you to remember every single nice comment you have ever received,
every positive interaction,
every time someone has ever said that your work impacted them.
I want you to hold those thoughts in your mind.
If you continue to tell yourself that you are bad at sales,
that you will never be good at this, that you just aren't that kind of person,
quote unquote, or that sales has to be this gross, manipulative, bad thing.
You will be preventing other people from experiencing that same emotional
impact. You will be depriving the world of your work.
You are going to hold yourself back and you're also going to deprive every
possible person that could have ever benefited from your work,
who could have experienced joy or comfort or felt seen by your work.
They are not going to feel that because you are not going to promote yourself.
You are not going to create content. Like you could,
you are not going to show up and tell stories in the way that you could about
your work.
And that is going to hold you back because being comfortable with sales is how
you make money. It is how you achieve your financial goals.
It's how you outsource tasks and buy back time in your business and actually
spend your days creating like you have always wanted. If you ignore sales,
if you give up on this, if you decide to not be good at this,
if you think that this is some, you know,
immutable fact of your personality in the world, you will not achieve that.
And the thing is, sales is a skill. Marketing is a skill.
It is a skill just like Photoshop, just like color theory, just like composition.
If you could be good at those things, if you could learn those things,
you can achieve mastery in those things. You can be good at this.
And the 80 20 rule very much applies here, by the way,
getting just a little bit better. You don't have to be a master. Okay?
Business and marketing is a massive skill tree.
You do not have to specialize in all of it.
Getting just a little bit better can really, really help you.
And that's why the next thing that you have to do to hit 10 K a month is to get
more comfortable with sales.
So here's how you are actually going to do that for the rest of the year.
Every single piece of content that you post will have a call to action in it.
This is going to be challenging for some of you,
but it is just a single sentence. It can be so easy if you let it,
it could be the last slide of a carousel post or a single sentence in
Instagram reel or a YouTube video.
This can be something that you just do in the caption if you want.
But I think actually having it in the main content itself is kind of important
because when I explicitly do a call to action for my email list in a YouTube
video, my signups skyrocket.
Like literally you can look at my email signups kind of graph and just see
exactly when I posted a video that had a call to action. It is so obvious.
You just see it immediately. I will easily get, you know,
anywhere between two to five times,
even 10 times more signups than I would in a regular day. It is dramatic.
And the more tailored you make this sales pitch,
this call to action to your audience, the better your results are going to be.
And before you give up because you're like, okay, I have never done this before.
How do I write a good call to action? I am going to walk you through it. Okay.
Again, it does not have to be a scary thing. This is fun and easy.
We are literally going to make it into a game.
If you have ever played Mad Libs as a kid that kind of fill in the blank game,
you're going to love this. It's going to be so easy for you.
So a starting point for a good call to action looks something like this.
If you've been blank and you want blank, then you should blank.
Okay. Super simple, right? Oh my God.
Look at how easy I have made this for you.
You don't have to be like sad and insecure and kind of all up in your head about
it. Sales and marketing can be fun and exciting and authentic.
It doesn't have to be this like gross, icky thing.
I want you to longterm think about ways that you can change your relationship to
sales and those feelings around it. So, okay. Again,
our template is if you've been blank and you want blank, then you should blank.
If you were writing and illustrating a children's book,
that CTA might look something like this.
If you've been enjoying seeing the behind the scenes of me getting this book out
into the world and you want to pick it up for a kid in your own life,
you should check out the pre-order link in my bio. Okay.
Notice how we made that really easy.
Like that was not scary or bad or you know,
it didn't leave you feeling kind of gross.
This is what sales could be guys. Like I'm so serious. Let's do one more.
If you make handmade soap, your CTA could be,
if you have been binging these ASMR soap making videos and you want to finally
experience what they smell like in person,
then you should join my email list to be the first to hear about new releases.
And if you've been enjoying my educational videos on creative entrepreneurship,
then you might get a lot out of my longterm mentorship program.
And the link for that is in the description.
I do this myself all the time. To be clear,
you will see me like just give a sales pitch and I follow this exact format like
I just did. Again, like I really want to hammer this home. It can be easy,
right? It doesn't have to be super complicated.
And if you keep practicing this skill, your sales will go up. Eventually,
you will be so good at this that if you want to make more money for whatever
reason,
you can just post an extra reel or an extra email newsletter and make more
because you'll know how to write a really good call to action.
You will be able to make more money kind of on command.
But I know that sounds kind of too good to be true.
And there's a reason why it sounds too good to be true. It kind of is.
There is one more step that you will need to make that kind of approach actually
work for you. And it's to actually know what content converts,
to actually know what you need to post to get sales.
The call to action is not enough. The content is really,
really important or like that's like 90% of the entire thing.
There is an easy way to track your numbers that I have personally used to add
over 1,500,
1,500 new people to my email list in the past month.
It's crazy because all you have to do is just be observant.
All you have to do is just pay attention.
So every time you see a little spike in sales, I want you to write it down.
And then I want you to ask yourself, okay,
what happened right before that in your business? What did you post?
Did you post a reel that got a lot of views?
Did you send an email to your list? Did you share a behind the scenes story?
Did you do a launch with a bunch of posts in a row?
What kind of content did you post? Not just when, but also what was it?
Like what was the format? How many call to actions did you have?
What were the call to actions? Because when you know this information,
you have so much control and you will be able to really fine tune your content,
your process and make more money in the process.
You will eventually be able to post less and make more because if you figure this
out,
if you collect all of this data and then start making choices informed by that
data,
you will be able to make sure that the content that you post actually performs.
And then you're going to be creating with confidence.
You're going to be creating knowing that, yeah,
reliably I can figure out what to post to actually get results.
And then there's so much less second guessing.
There's so much less doubt and insecurity and like panic posting even,
right? It's liberating to know this stuff. And again,
you will be able to post less because your posts will actually make you more
money individually.
They will convert better for you because you have tracked this data and you
don't need fancy tools for this.
The notes app on your phone is honestly going to work fine. You could,
you know,
make some fancy spreadsheet and I'm maybe working on a thing to help you with
that. But just writing it down right now,
that works like just being a little bit observant,
having a record over time that works totally fine.
And when you combine the three things that we talked about,
the higher price offers the better call to actions and actually tracking what's
working, reaching 10 K won't feel like a pipe dream.
It will feel inevitable.
But there is one last problem that stops most creatives from ever hitting 10 K a
month. And it's that you're probably focusing on the wrong things.
So that is exactly what I designed this free live event that I mentioned earlier
to help you with. Again, it's totally free.
You are going to walk with a super clear concrete roadmap for exactly what to
focus on and when to focus on it.
The link to register will be in the description. And while you're waiting,
watch this video somewhere on the screen next, and I will see you there.
