Hello ladies and gentlemen, welcome back to Watchtiction Watch Reviews.
Today we have a watch from Vare Watches from California they're based.
This is their DS2 Arctic 39, it's a great everyday grab-and-go watch.
Priced below $300, about $239, I'll drop a link down to them in the description below
as usual so you can check them out after this video.
And let's see what's in the box.
First we'll see what's on my wrist of course.
On my wrist today is the Tissot PRX Quartz variation.
The black dial as you can see here.
A very nice sleek watch, great for everyday use and water resistant as well.
I've had this for I believe like four years already.
Pretty tough watch.
You will receive your Vare DS as you can see with an extra band as well and it comes on
a rubber band so you get two bands.
I think that's a pretty good deal for $239.
As you can see there she is in the box.
Let me get inside of the box and then we'll dig a little deeper guys.
Now here is the watch in question.
As you can see, pretty legible dial.
The frame reminds me of some old subs from the past which is pretty cool.
Not a direct homage or anything like that.
I think it's a pretty decent looking watch.
Very very thin watch in hand I must say.
The watch is crafted of solid 316L stainless steel all around as you can see there.
Let's get some basic specifications out of the way.
The watch itself is 39mm across the case in terms of diameter which is very nice for the
watch enthusiast.
In terms of lug width, we're looking at 20mm in between those lugs.
Top to bottom, we're looking at 46mm which is very nice for a 39mm case.
In terms of case thickness, we're looking at only 10.4mm.
That's pretty thin.
That's really thin I must say.
So definitely will wear pretty flat on the wrist there.
Definitely a very clean looking dial.
As you can see, we do get an anti-reflective coated sapphire crystal.
As you can see, that's a flat sapphire crystal which is very good for this price point.
And yeah, some other stuff about this watch.
The watch is obviously using a quartz movement inside the watch.
I'll go over the case finish in a second.
It's using a quartz movement.
As you can see that second hand ticking away there.
It's using the Japanese made Miyota GM12 movement which has a 40 month battery life which is
very good.
That would be more than 3 years which is pretty good.
3 years and 4 months.
So that's pretty good.
That's a long, long time to change the battery.
They do say minus 10 or plus 20 seconds per month for their tolerances which is very good.
And the movements are assembled in Hong Kong.
Now this is definitely a watch to take in the water.
It's 150 meters water resistant as you can see there.
Marked on the dial 150 meters or 500 feet which is very good with the screw down crown
and a screw down case back.
Now the case, I've seen this case before from Avera.
It's a very nice case.
Kind of comes to like an end point here.
Kind of swoops in and down which is pretty cool.
It's brushed on the actual side portions of the case and then it has this nice chain
frame going across.
Large polished chain frame going across which is very nice.
Coin edge bezel as well which you can see which sits pretty flat on the case.
The 10.4 millimeter case thickness there.
Flipping to the flank, as you can see here, you get that same brushed finish.
That chain frame coming along the top portion of the case.
So yeah, really nice case.
Very light in hand I must say for a dive watch.
Pretty nice.
But yeah, the actual dial is very symmetrical.
You get your upside down triangle.
Applied markers as you can see there.
You get an old radium kind of C3 lume there on the actual hands and the actual markers
which is pretty cool.
I'll get you a lume shot towards the end of the video.
Yeah, kind of like a matte black dial you got going on there which is pretty nice.
You have a date cut out at the 6 o'clock position.
So everything you would need for an everyday wear.
Go ahead and unscrew the crown here.
Pretty nice pop out.
Pretty solid.
I guess one position is your quick set date and there it goes in black to match that dial
which is very nice.
And then your final position, the seconds hand will come to a halt and then we can precisely
set the time here as you can see.
Push that back in.
Screw that back down and you're good to go.
Very nice crown action I must say.
Now the band it comes on is an actual rubber band with the sign VEHR, brushed stainless
steel buckle, two safety keepers.
As you can see here it is quick release and 20 millimeters.
As you can see they do state VEHR on their bands.
Case back has a nice swivel VEHR design as you can see with some basic specifications
screwed in case back of course for that 150 meters of water resistance.
Some basic specifications 15 ATM sapphire crystal and it does say designed in Los Angeles
which is pretty cool.
They are from California this brand.
So a lot of their watches are, you know, water based watches that can go diving and things
of that nature.
Now the bezel action, it's actually an aluminum bezel insert, it's not loomed but the 12 o'clock
pip is loomed.
Very minimal back plate I must say, 120 clicks to time your dives or shallow diving or anything
you want to time.
Everything does line up perfectly to that 12 o'clock position there which is very nice.
I'm going to go ahead and get you a loom shot.
Loomed up the torch as you can see we get that old style loom which looks like watches
from the past which I think is pretty cool.
Nice paddle style hand as you can see there and yeah I think for the price the loom is
pretty decent.
Planted on my 6.5 inch wrist I must say these dimensions are definitely, definitely very
nice for my wrist.
So we have 46 top to bottom, 39 across the case, 20 in between those lugs there.
Look how flat that wears on the wrist I must say and those lugs curve down.
Very very very comfortable watch on the wrist.
I'd definitely keep it on this rubber band which is very nice.
Kind of reminds me of the Barton's band a little bit.
Maybe it's made by the same company, I'm not sure but very very comfortable band I must
say.
There's a little Vair buckle there which is pretty cool.
But yeah, very comfortable on the wrist, easy to read top down, very very legible dial I
must say.
I must say this is a great grab and go watch.
It's quartz, it's good for everyday use.
Just throw it on your wrist, you can jump in the pool with it, you can go in the shower
with it and it can be dressed up or dressed down.
Definitely would look good on a leather band as well.
Now the watch does come with a two-piece nylon style band as well if you want more of a field
look I must say.
I definitely do prefer the rubber bands, I love rubber bands.
This one's a little more stiff, it will break in easily though, I can tell, you get quick
release on this as well.
You can just swap out the bands very easily.
As you can see, you just push that in, it goes right into the case there but not a bad
band as well.
It definitely goes well with the color with the actual matte black dial.
I do prefer the rubber band though, very very comfortable.
Furthermore guys, if you're in the market for a good everyday grab and go quartz watch
that you can take in the water, that you can wear in many situations, a tough rugged watch,
kind of like an everyday field tool watch I must say, something of that nature I'm getting
from this, definitely a decent pick.
I must say for the price point, you can't go wrong.
Anyway guys, there were no quality control issues on my end.
The shipping was very very quick, about 3-4 days which is perfect in my eyes and it looks
really nice.
Simple, clean and I love that case, I really do.
It's a very nice case.
They use this case design on one of their other models I believe.
They have a whole bunch of different models on their website, I'll drop a link down to
them in the description below.
This is the Verdeas 39mm, there are a bunch of different sizes I believe as well.
Definitely check them out, I'll drop a link down to them.
