Trying to find as many interesting bottles shops as possible.
Reporting to you from Trentum Gardens near Stoke-on-Trent which is a little shopping
area but look they have they have a whisky shop. Deepa's already inside drinking something on the
lens. A lot of familiar sights. Let's go in and have a look. We've been chatting to Lee here he's
giving us a little little taste. Oh Gugadal. I like Gugadal. Yes me too. What are you drinking?
Gervan. I'll show you. So interestingly they have a few barrels here which is you said Hungarian
and so they've got a eight-year Gervan. Oh I don't even know what that is.
It sounds like a blended malt. Okay.
And Inchgauer. Soon to be a rum in that one. Oh yeah. And so these are all part of
Ochfein. And so you have you have several stores around the country? Oh yes yes got 20
stores all together. Yeah. Including one in Paris. Oh yeah. Okay let's give you the tour.
See some shelves under under stress here.
Representing the Bourbons. I think the main wall we can say is over here.
Still got a Balblaer if you need it. Let's see you're going to want to know prices. Let's see
that's 80 pounds for the 18 year old Balblaer. And the new one let's see the 15 year old is also 80.
There we go. We all know what we think about that don't we?
What are you solving? Oh they're single grain as well. Oh yeah. Gordon.
McCallands. Bunner 12. That's a that's a popular one. That's 47 here.
Revival is 62 for the new one. A nice Glendronic up there.
26 year Sherry cask. Is that also cask strength? Oh 50 percent. Yeah 50 percent that one.
239.
More of a batch strength. Possibly yeah. Yeah. A selection of Glenscotia. That's Glenscotia 18.
89. That's not bad for an 18 year old is it? How smoky is that Glenscotia then? I'm not quite sure.
That's a great deal. Okay. Yes it has got quite a coastal taste to it. Saltiness.
Which is really nice. Is it Sherried? I think it's mostly American. Yeah okay. Battery change.
Where were we? Glenscotia. We were somewhere somewhere here. Mortlach. King of Trees. What
are we looking at here Lee? It's a blend. I haven't seen that brand before. It's quite it's
okay it's uh quite unusual the fact that it's um it's coming in Scottish oak cask. Oh really
Scottish oak. On which company is is that? So it's a it's a new company but it's owned by
White & Mackay. Okay. White & Mackay. Been headlined by Greg Glass previously of Compass Box.
Ah yeah. Compass Box certainly do some nice stuff.
Bunch of taluskers. Some interesting ones up here.
30 year. What's that? 30 year Glen Grant. Nice. Get your hundred pound notes out.
Tomato. Oh a 20 year Laphroaig. That's what 4.15. Understandable.
Let's see what how much is your Ugedal here? 67 for Ugedal.
I think we can get it cheaper at Total Wine for that one. But they have good prices. Yeah. And
the you know the Laphroaig uh the cask strength. Right yeah. For some reason like we can buy that
over there for for um like 75 US dollars. That's fine. Here it's like you know closer to a 90 or
100 pounds isn't it? If you can find it at all. And I just don't understand that but.
Okay first edition. So a whole bunch of
different independent. Well these are kind of blends aren't they? So they're
are these uh oh they're single casks but they're just not they're just not named.
Oh I'm just saying seeing space size. Oh I don't know more like yeah.
Reading the small print instead of the big print. Yeah.
Let's see. So how much would a Craigallochie be? 70. So how old is that then? So 2011.
46 ABV. Oh I see they're single casks but they're at 46.
That's right. That's a wine barrel. Right. Craigallochie. Nice.
Old malt cask on a 19 year old Highland Park. Mmm tasty. 50 percent.
I've had good luck with the old malt casks. The ones that we've had a couple they've
they've been good. Yeah.
Yeah it's the Welsh one. And Darren. There's one for food quick. JP Weiser's. He's a Canadian.
Few keeps keeps chasing us.
Ah Bookers. So Bookers is branded a little differently here.
We don't like you. So Booker's 78. Yeah a bit more expensive. We'd probably pay about that in dollars
if you can find it. But it's generally over there they named the batches with a
like it's called kitchen table or Teresa's batch or something. So this is a 2017 01.
Someone will know what that batch is.
Woodford Preserve. That's the type of thing that may or may not be
that easy to get in the US. I don't know enough about them.
There's one for Deepa. A couple for Deepa. The Amaruts.
Ooh with the cabinet. Some nice Sovereigns in here. Let's see.
No not Macallan. Let's not talk about them. Ooh Colella. A 36 year Colella.
Only 740. Keep the cabinet locked though.
Oh yeah. First editions.
And then a whole bunch of little minis which are always cute to see.
Who's got the cutest mini bottle? I think the Kilhoman looks pretty cute
at that scale. But I've never seen um I've never seen old Multicast minis before. That's pretty nice.
Glenskosha. Some even smaller minis.
You want a little little Glendronic?
Nice. Good. Good stuff. And you get free tasting as well. Unlike in the US where you're not allowed
to drink spirits in the shop. Yeah it's all heavily licensed so you can't you can't get the
tastes. We've got plenty of samples here. Yeah. Very good.
That makes more sense than than Laphroaig Select Marmalade.
Yeah Laphroaig Mustard sounds right and Glenfarkless Marmalade sounds right.
Fantastic. I think at the very least we have to get a Glenfarkless Marmalade.
Should we compare it to a Smoky Marmalade? You want a Laphroaig Mustard? Right.
We're returning the favor. We brought Leah and Elijah Craig barrel proof.
Which batch is it? This is C918 to try.
Smells good. Yeah we're doing a little tour around with friends you know we have a few
different bourbons. It'll be strong I'm sure. It doesn't come across that strong. Right. It's not
to me anyway. Yeah well that's that's a good sign isn't it? Come across that strong you know.
I'm trying to think I'm trying to remember how many years the barrel proof is.
7 or 12. I can't remember which one. Oh 12. This is a 12 year barrel. 12 year? Yeah.
With water? It's okay. Leah's a professional. He can handle 65 percent. Oh yeah. Stronger the
better for me. Nice. I do like the cash stamp.
