Hi everyone it's Lia What do you do when you're home alone What do you like to do What do you do when you're not studying Lately I've been doing my own nail art I also play chess and read books I also study languages That makes me feel happy This kind of behavior that makes you feel so good is called a hobby What are your hobbies After watching this video today you'll be able to describe your hobby in Korean Please watch until the end My first hobby is self-nail art It's been five months since I started nail art and when I'm doing nail art time flies by It usually takes about two hours If you make the design more elaborate It can take up to three hours This is my first nail art These are the nail arts I've done so far Shall we take a quick look What's the most beautiful thing And ta-da This is the new nail art I did today Pink color It took about an hour and a half How about it It takes time but once you're done you feel great I never really cared about nail art before But I tried nail art for the first time in Vietnam From that moment on I was hooked Completely hooked But before starting self -nail art I thought a lot I really thought it over Whenever I begin something At first they put in tremendous effort But soon they get bored They get bored Their passion fades away I was worried I might not use the nail art tools later I'm having fun with it now I don't regret starting Back then I used to change my nail art design once a week But lately I've found it a bit bothersome So I get my nails done every two weeks or so Doing nail art has its benefits We call these benefits advantages Advantages Doing nail art at home instead of going to a salon saves you a lot of money—much cheaper Another great thing is that you can do it for friends or family too I first tried it on my mom I also did it for my friends next How was that I’d love to do your nails someday too My second hobby is chess Chess I've been playing chess for four months now Four months Playing chess clears my mind of distractions When playing chess my focus becomes incredibly sharp I first started chess through Duolingo I learned the rules of chess through Duolingo I bought two chess boards I bought two actually But chess is still really difficult It's still very hard Honestly I feel awful every time I lose I feel extremely bad I actually played chess seven games last night I played seven games I played chess on my phone before bed but I lost five games straight I felt really sad and down But hobbies are meant to be enjoyable after all I occasionally attend chess gatherings At the gatherings I play chess with others I play either one-on-one chess or team chess People are incredibly skilled at chess I want to get better at chess too I'll practice more from now on Promise The third hobby is decorating diaries—known as "dakku" in Korean It's been a year since I started doing DAKU Doing DAKU makes my eyes happy You'll need stickers when doing this kind of customization stickers And the sticky notes and tape— I need a lot of tape too Stick on the sticker and also attach the note I started my DAKU collection in 2023 That means it's already been two years Anyway at first I was worried this sticker might be expensive But in Korea you can buy them cheaply at a store called Daiso Whenever I go to Daiso I always buy stickers Stickers are one thousand won each Daiso always has new sticker arrivals So many cute new arrivals These are Christmas stickers I bought at Daiso When doing a daku I think carefully about where to place stickers and memo notes Sometimes that part takes me a long time I listen to soft music when doing daku It's truly soothing I also play musical instruments I love the ukulele I first started two winters ago I taught myself by watching YouTube videos Learning something on your own is called self-study in Korean You can say "I learned ukulele through self-study " I taught myself to play the ukulele The first song I learned was by Coldplay This is one of my favorite songs Do you have an instrument you really love I sometimes work out at the gym and I study a language every day Honestly I don't do it much just a little at a time I also have plenty of hobbies I'd like to try someday A hobby I'd like to try I'd like to learn swimming and also take up the violin Will you have time to learn I hope you do What do you find most healing or joyful Now tell me about your hobby How about you try saying it just as it is here My hobby is collecting cute things It's been two years since I started doing daku Doing daku makes me feel happy It calms my mind I'd like to try playing the violin someday That's all for today Thank you for listening to my podcast today See you next time Goodbye
