Day three of our Thailand adventure. After checking out of our Elephant Sanctuary Hotel,
we headed north of Chiang Mai to visit one of the most unique places we've ever seen.
The Bua Tong Sticky Waterfall. This experience was honestly so cool. The water is incredibly clear
and it was our first time ever climbing a waterfall. Thanks to the limestone surface
most of the paths aren't slippery at all. Though a few areas can be slick where algae grows,
you still need to be careful. There are ropes along the falls to help you climb up
which makes it fun and manageable even for beginners. Most of the trail is shaded by trees
so despite arriving around noon, it didn't feel too hot during the hike. It was definitely crowded
when we got there. So if you're hoping for quieter moments or photos without people in
the background, I'd recommend coming early in the morning. Still, this spot is 100% worth the visit
and easily one of our favorite spots in Chiang Mai. We are at Sticky Waterfalls. This is in
northern part of Chiang Mai and we're going to be staying in this area for today. The Sticky
Waterfalls was cool. I just got some booboo right here. I kind of slipped like on the last leg going
up. But yeah, there's rope to help you get up but you know if there were no rope right there,
oh my god, I'll be gone. After exploring the Sticky Waterfalls, we stopped for lunch at
just a few minutes away. The cafe has a such beautiful scenic view. Peaceful, relaxing,
and perfect place to cool down after that hike. There is a small entrance fee which felt a little
unusual at first but we realized that's actually pretty common here in Thailand. The waterfalls
was nice but after scraping my knees, it's whatever. Anyway, we are here at this really nice
restaurant slash probably a resort, hotel resort slash a park. There is like 80 baht to get in here
but it's really nice and relaxing. The food surprised us in the best way. Everything was
delicious and very affordable. So we ordered several dishes to share. It was a perfect way
to recharge and fill up after climbing the waterfalls. After lunch, we drove only about
one of the most stunning temples we've seen in Chiang Mai.
This temple complex is massive with brilliant colored roofs, detailed golden decorations,
and multiple buildings spread across the peaceful grounds. Every corner feels calm
and beautifully designed blending traditional Lama architecture with colorful modern elements.
We were truly amazed by how beautiful the temples were
and the best part is that it's completely free to visit. Just remember to follow the dress code.
Shoulders and knees should be covered especially for women and always be respectful
while exploring the temple grounds.
Our last stop for the day was Dantewada Land Waterfall Park. It felt like stepping into
fantasy world. Located at the Mae Thang District about 45 minutes to an hour north of Chiang Mai,
this whimsical park blends nature with creative design. The moment we walked in,
we were surrounded by misty air, cascading waterfalls, lush gardens,
and little caves that made the whole place feel most like fairytale. The waterfalls here are
man-made but they are beautifully done creating dreamy photo spots everywhere you look. There's
also a popular cafe inside making it a perfect place to slow down, grab a drink,
and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere after a full day of exploring. And that wraps up our third
day here in Thailand. From sticky waterfalls and beautiful temples to unexpected hidden gems,
today was full of moments we didn't even know we needed.
