Hi, welcome back. In this video, I'm going to show you how to draw this beautiful hyper-realistic eye
using graphite pencils. It's one of my most realistic eye drawings and I'm really excited
to share this journey with you guys. So grab your tools and let's get started.
So these are the art supplies I'm going to use for this drawing and you can pause the video
right here to note them down. So I'm already done with this rough outline and you can find all the
link is in the description. I'm using this A3 size paper from my ordinary drawing pad
and the drawing portion area is 10 x 14 inches. So first of all, I'm going to mask the edges of
this drawing using a masking tape. It will help you get straight and sharp borders for your drawing.
So starting from the iris portion and first of all, I'm going to take this B pencil and
darken the outlines of the iris and iris texture. I usually start by adding the base layer first,
but this inner portion of the iris is full of blacks and whites. So I'm going to use my 9B
pencil and further darken the iris texture around the pupil. You can also paste some
masking tape over this highlight to save it from accidental shades or strokes. You need to add
these type of faded lines in order to get this realistic looking texture and then use the same
9B pencil to fill the pupil with pitch black shade and also darken the remaining pattern or
texture inside the pupil. Now use your B pencil and lightly fill the iris to give it a base layer
and then thoroughly blend this base layer using a dry brush. Okay now take your 8B pencil and use
this back and forth stroke technique to extend this darker shade from the outlines of the iris
to the middle portion or the pupil just like this and again blend this layer using a dry brush to
give it a smooth and finished look. Okay now take your mono zero eraser and erase the shade or add
these highlights in between the darker lines or texture. This is going to be a little bit hectic
process for beginners but believe me you will end up with amazing results if you stay patient
throughout the process. You can practice this beforehand to get a grasp of this technique.
Focus on the major details and shapes first to make some guiding lines and then fill them later
with some minor details and stuff. Don't worry about the sharpness or brightness of these white
lines at this moment just focus on the overall shape and directions of these lines. Make sure
to keep the tip of your mono zero eraser clean and sharp at all times. You can do that by rubbing it
on a sandpaper or any textured surface and by the way the real-time version of this tutorial is
available on my patreon profile so if you want to see all these details up close and in real time
you can visit my patreon profile link is in the description and when you're done with all this
erasing and stuff you can use your 8B pencil again to further darken some of these black lines or
texture which you accidentally erased and then use your electric eraser to further brighten these
middle area or junction point of these white lines and again make sure you keep the tip of
your eraser sharp by rubbing it on a sandpaper or any rough surface and in the end use your 8B
pencil and fill this portion along the outlines of the iris with these type of faded lines and
texture. You can also unmask your highlight at this point and give it a proper shape using an
electric eraser. Okay now moving on to this Clara or white portion and first of all i'm going to use
this B pencil and fill the area with the base layer and then thoroughly blend it using a draw
brush. Now use your kneaded eraser to lighten the areas where required and then use your 3B pencil
to darken these shadowed areas below the upper eyelid and lightly blend them using a mini dry
brush like this. Now use your 2H pencil and fill this Clara with these arteries or veins you don't
need to copy the exact position or structure of the veins from the reference just make sure to
keep them random and branched like this and also notice that the starting portions of these veins
are darker and the ending portions are lighter or faded so keep that in mind as well and when you're
done with these base lines you can use your B pencil to further darken the areas where the lines
are thicker and use your kneaded eraser to lighten the areas where the lines are thinner just like
this and also use your 3B pencil for these darker areas in the corner portions. Okay now moving on
to the right portion of this Clara and the overall process is similar to the left one the only
difference is in the tear duct area which you can shade by using the 3B pencil after adding the base
and after blending the 3B layers you can use your 9B pencil and further darken these
shadowed areas and wrinkles in between the veins in this portion are also darker than the left
portion and they are also a little bit blurred so I'm gonna use this 3B pencil for them but make
sure you keep the pressure light then use your sharp tip blending stump and smudge each single
line individually and then use your kneaded eraser to lighten the portions where required
and also lighten the shades or highlights on the wrinkles and this tear duct portion
using the same kneaded eraser and add these sharp white highlights or shines in the end using your
electric eraser. Okay now moving on to the upper eyelid and first of all I'm gonna use a darker
grade pencil like 5B or 8B and darken these rough outlines of the eyelashes so they don't fade away
in the blending and shading process and then take this B powder from your graphite powder kit and
use it with a medium brush like this to fill the eyelid with a base layer. I recently made a video
on making graphite powder so if you don't have a graphite powder kit at this moment you can make
one at home by watching this video from the cards. You can shade the upper part by using a bigger
dry brush like this and then use a tissue paper to further blend the area to give it a smooth and
even base and then use your 5B powder with a medium size brush and darken these shadowed
portions especially the eyelid and by the way if you're a beginner and want to learn the basics of
drawing first you can join my course on Udemy. I put my course on sale for five days of every month
you can check the link in description to see if the sale is going on right now and get enrolled
as soon as possible. Okay now use your 9B pencil and further darken these portions to give them
a proper contrast. Use the layering technique to get your desired darkness instead of using
pressure technique because we need to get a nice and smooth gradient of shade along the eyelid.
Then use your knead eraser and dab it lightly on the areas where the shades are lighter just like
this and then use your mono eraser to add these small shiny hairs and blurry skin texture starting
from this upper left side. Again you don't need to copy each and every minor detail here just
focus on the position of the bigger details first and then add the small or minor details in between
them. This middle portion is a little bit blurry so you can add these type of thick hair or skin
texture using a thicker tip eraser like this one. Some portions like this area above the eyelid are
in focus so you can add these type of sharp and tiny hairs using your mono eraser. Just make sure
to keep the direction of hair in mind when adding them. Okay now the eyelid has these type of extra
sharp highlights which you can add using a gel roll pen but I'm going to use this electric eraser
for this purpose because the gel roll pen gets dull when you preserve the drawing with a fixative
spray in the end. It almost ruined my Morgan Freeman drawing so I don't use it now. Also you
don't need to be very precise when adding these highlights because 50% of them will hide behind
the eyelashes. Now use your 8B pencil and darken the eyelashes. Darken each and every single hair
individually and don't rush towards finishing the eyelashes because it's the most important part of
the drawing. Notice the shape of each hair from the starting portion is curly and ending portions
are faded and also some of the hairs are misaligned and at random positions so keep them in mind as
well. And in the end use a tiny brush and smudge the ending portions of each single hair to give
them a blurry look just like this. Okay now moving on to the lower eyelid and first of all I'm going
to darken these rough outlines of the eyelashes and fill the area with the base layer using B
graphite powder first and then use your 3B graphite powder for the areas which are slightly darker.
Now use your 5B pencil and darken these specific areas like wrinkles and shadows of the eyelashes
etc and lightly blend them using a thicker dry brush like this and then use your kneaded eraser
and pick up the extra shades in these areas which are highlighted. Now for the sharp highlights and
skin texture I'm going to use this thicker tip eraser first and add these thick and blurred
highlights in these left portions. And for the areas near and in between the eyelashes I'm going
to use this mono zero eraser to add these type of sharp white highlights or texture. Keep in mind
the position and shape of highlights in a specific portion like this left portion has these tiny
hairs as highlights and this middle portion has rough skin texture as highlight. So if you have
a blurry and thick skin texture you can add it using thicker tip eraser and if you have a sharp
texture you can add it using a mono zero eraser. And if you need extra sharp highlights or hairs
in between you can add them using electric eraser or gerry roll pen. And when you're done with the
skin texture and highlights you can use your 8B pencil to darken the eyelashes. If your eyelash
outlines are faded in the shading or erasing process you can use a B pencil first to make a
rough outline and darken them later using your 8B pencil. Keep in mind the starting portions of
these hairs are thicker and curly and the ending portions are thinner and faded. And in the end use
your sharp tip mono zero eraser and add these highlights or shines on the hair. And don't
forget to add these extra sharp highlights here in this portion between the eyelid and iris. And
with this last step we are done with this hyper realistic eye drawing. It takes so much time and
efforts to create these tutorials so please leave a like if you enjoyed this one. It helps me a lot
as an artist. So if you want to get the real-time tutorial of this drawing you can visit my Patreon
