Hello everyone! Welcome to a new episode of Fo's Slow English.
Today we are going to do a get ready with me episode.
This is usually how I get ready in the mornings before I go to work.
I take a shower and then I will apply my skincare regimen.
I will do my hair and I will do my makeup.
So hopefully you will learn some new vocabulary words and maybe some new verbs.
Before we get started, please hit the like and subscribe button.
It's your way of letting me know that you're enjoying this content.
And also feel free to leave a comment with suggestions of future videos.
I would be more than happy to cover whatever topic you would like.
As you can see, I just jumped out of the shower.
My hair is wet and I brushed it with...
It's called a wet brush.
So it's specifically used to detangle wet hair.
When I brush my hair, I always brush from the bottom.
That is the easiest way to detangle hair.
After I brush my hair, I will apply my hair products.
I use three products for my hair.
The first product I will apply to my hair is a spray.
It's called Olaplex Blow Dry Mist.
A volumizing spray will help my hair to keep some height throughout the day.
This product also helps protect from the blow dry heat.
I uncap the bottle.
I flip my hair back behind my shoulders.
And I will do my best to spray the ends working my way up to the mid part of my hair.
The reason why I want to concentrate on the ends is because this is the oldest hair.
On average, humans grow about six inches of hair per year.
So if we calculate six inches, here's about six inches, another six inches.
So this hair on the end is about three years old.
And it's been through a lot of trauma.
The next product I will use is a mousse for my scalp.
I find that this mousse will also volumize my hair.
But most importantly, it allows me to go an extra day without needing to wash my hair.
Sorry, that probably sounds really disgusting.
But I have a very busy work week.
So it's hard for me to do this whole routine every day with my hair.
This product is called Giovanni.
It's a more natural product.
So there aren't many toxins in it, which is important for me.
Because it's going on my scalp.
The scalp will absorb products.
And I want these products to be as clean as possible.
When I say clean, I mean not too many chemicals.
First, I will shake the bottle.
And then I will pump the mousse directly into the hairline.
The hairline is where I part my hair.
One, two, three.
And then I will smush the mousse.
And I'll also get to the crown of my head, which is back here.
Very beautiful.
The last hair product I will use is a smoother for my ends.
Which will provide additional protection from heat.
This is also an Olaplex product.
It's called the Bond Smoother.
I will take one pump in the palm of my hands.
I will rub my palms together.
So I have even distribution on both of my hands.
And then I will apply the cream to just the mid to the ends of my hair.
The reason why I do not apply it to the top of my head
is because it will drag my hair down.
Which then defeats the purpose of the volumizing products that I used.
I will also use whatever is left on my hands to the front piece of my highlights.
Because normally the highlights around the hairline is more damaged.
So it needs more protection.
Now I will wash my hands.
Now it's time to do my skincare regimen.
I will start by clipping my hair back so that it is out of the way of my face.
So cute.
I've already cleansed my face using a hydrating cleanser as well as a scrubby tool.
You can see that it has little rubber silicone bristles.
Which helps it to deep clean into my pores.
After cleansing I will do a toner.
I take a piece of gauze which is like a medical supply.
But you can also use it for cosmetic purposes.
And I will dampen the gauze with a toner.
Lotion P50V.
I have featured this product in one of my very first episodes of Beau's Slow English.
It's by a company called Biologique Recherche.
Which is how Americans would say it.
But in French it's Biologique Recherche I think.
I will twist the cap off and start to dampen the gauze.
Now I will gently press this toner along my face and neck.
This product has different types of acids.
Acids are important because it helps to exfoliate your skin.
Exfoliating is when your cells turn over to make new cells.
And that is how you get bright baby-like skin.
Tapping in an upward motion.
The next step is applying serums.
Serums usually come in a kind of liquid-like form.
Sometimes thinner, sometimes thicker.
And actually a fancy vocabulary word you could use to describe
the thinness and the thickness of a liquid is viscosity.
So this viscosity, as you can see, is a little bit of a thinner fluid.
It's called HydraCool Serum by IS Clinical.
I will do two pumps.
It looks like this.
It's blue.
And then I will pat it into my pores.
Pores are on your skin that are like holes.
And it can absorb dirt and also skincare products.
So I'm patting.
After I pat the products onto my face and neck,
I will rub it onto my hands so that it does not get wasted.
Next, I will apply a vitamin C serum.
The reason why vitamin C is important to have in your regimen
is because it will help to reverse sun damage and it will brighten your skin.
If you have dark spots or dark patches,
you will need a vitamin C serum to brighten your skin.
This is also an IS Clinical product.
It's called ProHeal Serum.
This comes in a dropper form.
The viscosity, remember that word, is more fluid-like or more liquidy.
Almost like water.
I will squeeze the top of the dropper and drop five droplets into my palm.
That was many different ways to say drop.
So I said dropper, which is the tool.
I said I will drop the liquid into my palm.
And the name of what's coming out is called droplets.
So five droplets pat into the skin.
And the rest goes on my hand.
If you drive, you will notice over time that the back of your hands
will start to age quickly because of the sun.
So usually people neglect their hands and it doesn't quite match their face
if someone takes really good care of their face but not their hands.
Next is a product by the brand SkinCeuticals called P-Teox.
This product is meant to decrease wrinkles.
This also comes with a dropper.
And this serum requires about five drops as well.
One, two, three, four, five drops or droplets.
Droplets are, I think, the smaller version of drops.
Pressing into my skin and also into my neck, especially my neckless lines.
Neckless lines are usually something that you're born with.
But as you age, it will get worse.
So I like to preserve my neck by applying all of my products to it.
So far, we've done a hydrating serum and then a vitamin C brightening serum
and then a anti-wrinkle serum.
I'm going to apply one more brightening serum.
It's called SkinMedica Even and Correct.
I will be applying this to specific areas on my face where I have hyperpigmentation.
This is a fancy word for dark spots on the skin that were caused from external factors or trauma.
I had some dry skin around my mouth and because I did not repair it fast enough, it turned dark.
So I'm going to reverse the darkness now.
Because of my genetics, being that I am Asian, I am prone to hyperpigmentation.
I only need a tiny bit of this serum, tiny,
and I'm going to apply it where I have these specific dark spots.
This is also known as spot treating because I'm not applying it all over the face.
I have a dark spot here, here.
I also have some around here and here and a little around my nose.
We are done with just the serum stage.
Next is the cream phase or stage of my regimen.
I have many different eye creams.
Today, I feel like applying a stem cell eye cream.
It's called SCBI, stem cell eye firming cream.
Does anyone know what firming means?
If you do, leave a comment below so you can teach your fellow students.
I only need a little bit.
There's a saying in English, a little goes a long way,
meaning when you use a little bit of a product or whatever it is,
it will spread much further than you think.
So you only need a little bit.
I will tap this under both of my eyes and also on the top.
And then I like to do a lymphatic drainage technique
so that I can decrease fluid in my face.
I am prone to, remember that word,
I am prone to looking puffy when I wake up.
So first, I will pull my skin.
I will then glide my finger in, pump, pump, pump and go around.
And I just need a little bit more cream.
So I'm going to again glide my finger in, pump, pump, pump and go around.
And I usually do this three times.
And the reason for pulling your skin taut,
taut means a little bit tight, but not too tight.
But the reason for pulling it taut is so that you do not cause wrinkles onto the skin.
So pull taut, glide the finger in.
The pressure should feel like you're petting a cat.
You're basically pushing fluid to the inner corner of the eye,
which is where your lymph node is.
That is like a trash can for the fluid, which will then drain the fluid down.
So glide, pump, pump, pump and around.
Let's do that on the other side.
So pull your skin taut and glide, pump, pump, pump, go around.
Glide, pump, pump, pump, go around.
And glide, pump, pump, pump, go around.
By the way, if you haven't already noticed,
I work in the beauty industry,
which is why I have a passion for hair and skin.
Throughout my years of working in this industry,
I have heard many clients ask,
is eye cream even worth it?
Or does eye cream work?
Please apply eye cream because the skin around your eye is very thin.
And later on in your life, it will be very hard to reverse the wrinkles.
And it's better to prevent now for the future.
So my answer is always yes, eye cream works.
Since I am going out into the sun,
I'm going to apply a sunscreen that also has a moisturizer.
I'm going to use another IS clinical product called Extreme Protect SPF 40.
This product has only physical sunscreen in it.
What this means is it will protect the sunlight
from going into the skin by blocking it.
It's like a shield.
There are other types of sunscreen that have chemical in it.
And chemical is not always a bad thing.
But I prefer fully physical sunscreen.
I'm going to pump a little bit of this because a little goes a long way.
Remember that saying?
And I'm going to apply it in an upward motion, up.
And then I pat it into my skin.
Don't forget your hands.
Okay, that is the end of my skincare regimen.
I forgot to mention earlier that my voice sounds a little bit nasally,
which means it's coming from the nose because I was sick over the weekend.
So I am getting over a cold.
That's a good phrasal verb.
Usually on a work day, I will do minimal makeup.
Which means I will not do eyeshadow, eyeliner, and I will just keep everything basic.
I normally do not apply foundation, which is an all over color to even out skin tone.
But I will apply some concealer.
I like the Dior Forever Skin Correct.
For anyone who has similar skin tone as mine, you could try the same shade called 2N.
I will start by dabbing under my eyes.
My under eyes are very dark, so I like to have full coverage.
Then I will dab this around my eye, a little bit around my nose as well.
It's amazing how much more awake I look after applying concealer.
Next, I will curl my lashes with an eyelash curler.
The brand I like to use is called SUQQU.
Can you see?
Probably not.
My friend, who is a celebrity makeup artist who works with a lot of Asians,
likes to use this brand.
Sometimes, if I have time, I will heat up my eyelash curler with a blow dryer
so that I can curl my lashes faster.
But today, I will show you how I curl my lashes without the blow dryer.
First, I will clamp.
Clamping is this action.
I will clamp the eyelash curler at the base of my eyelash line.
I will lift my skin up a little, wiggle the eyelash curler to the base,
and then I will clamp, clamp, clamp, clamp, clamp, clamp, clamp, clamp, clamp
all the way up.
So I'm doing this.
Do I look more curled on my left eye?
Now, I will do my right eye.
My favorite mascara lately is by Milk Makeup.
My really good friend gave me one because he works for the company
and I couldn't believe how well it lengthened my eyelashes.
Also, it kept it curled and it volumized.
It's called Kush High Roll Mascara.
I like to start by wiggling this wand at the tip of my eyelashes first.
I will wait 10 seconds in between my next coat.
Now, I will go towards the base of my lash line.
Voila!
Next is the eyebrow pencil.
I use a brand called Mario.
He is a famous makeup artist.
I will glide the pencil up.
I also really like how this pencil comes in an angle, angle,
and the color or the shade matches my natural eyebrow color very well.
It is an ashy color, meaning it has more of a cooler undertone.
Like blue, green, those are cool colors.
And also, it is very easy to apply.
About six or seven years ago, I had microblading done, which is an eyebrow tattoo.
Biggest regret of my beauty life because they did a very bad job.
So I will have to blend the bad microblading probably forever until I decide to get it removed.
So I'm going to do short strokes in my eyebrow to create the appearance of having a straighter brow.
I will use the spoolie, which is this tool, and comb the eyebrows and the pencil so that it blends.
Can you tell the difference?
Then I use a eyebrow...
It's like a gel that will keep my hair combed in the direction that I want.
It's a brand called Refai.
It's like an eyebrow glue.
I will comb it on just to the hair, but not on the skin.
Then I use a spoolie similar to this spoolie, and I will comb my hair to the outward direction.
We're almost done.
I will do the blush.
Today I'm doing milk makeup blush called Work, and I will glide this on my cheek and pat.
Last step is blow-drying my hair.
I will be using a Dyson blow dryer.
First, the normal blow-dry attachment, and then I will use the round brush attachment.
All right, I am done.
I look much more presentable, and I hope you learned something today.
Feel free to leave me a comment with any questions.
If you want to ask me about your skin or your hair, I would be more than happy to answer.
