Hey friends! Grab one pencil, a piece of paper, and let's map this face using Loomis.
We'll keep it simple. Let's start with the basic sphere. This is the foundation of every Loomis
head. Keep your hand light. Don't worry about perfection yet. Think of it as the cranium,
the main volume that holds everything together. Now let's find the center point, right between
the eyebrows. Mark that spot, and from there, draw a straight vertical line going down the face.
On the top, let that same line curve slightly to match the tilt of the head.
Then, add a horizontal line starting from the same center point. It crosses the brows and moves
toward the top of the ear on the right side. And now it's time for the side plane cut. It starts
right at the end of the eyebrow and curves down to meet the bottom of the circle. Since the head
is in a three-quarter angle, this cut looks more oval than round. And by the way, if you'd like to
learn the Loomis method in every head angle, from scratch to full mastery, you can grab my complete
Loomis portrait course right now. It's a detailed step-by-step program I built to take you from zero
to confident portrait drawing. The full course is currently on a big discount, so if you'd like to
join, just click the course image you see on the screen or check the link in the description.
Enroll now and make the most of the offer. On the vertical center line we drew, let's add
three horizontal guides. The first one goes near the top. That's the hairline, where the hair starts
to grow. The second one lines up with the bottom of the side plane. That's the nose line. Then we make
another equal space below for the chin line. By the end, we get three roughly equal sections across the
face. And now, the last step to complete our Loomis head. From the left side, connect the circle down
to the chin line with a smooth curve. On the right, draw a short vertical line through the middle of
the side plane and connect it gradually down to the chin as well. Now the head shape is complete
for this three-quarters view. Just add two simple strokes for a rough neck shape. Add a small circle
at the front for the nose tip. And remember, the ear always sits in the lower outer part of that
side plane. Next, sketch two oval shapes for the eye sockets. The left one should be slightly smaller
since the head is turned. Finally, connect the blue line from the inner side of the cut to the chin
on both sides. This line defines the mouth width, just like we always do. And that's it. The Loomis
head for this three-quarter angle is fully built. We're ready to move on to the details. Let's draw.
All right friends, let's talk honestly for a second. You guys always comment asking me to
draw facial details. Real time, full process, more explanations. But when I check my channel analytics,
I see most of you only watch for two or three minutes. So if I make a 30-minute video, you still
watch just two or three minutes. And that really hurts the video performance. But today, we're going
to do a little experiment. I'm making this video longer with more real-time drawing and extra
details so you can follow along step by step. Let's see if you actually watch till the end or
if those comments were just requests without action. So stay with me till the end of the video
and draw along with me step by step. And don't forget, if you want to learn the complete Loomis
method and realistic drawing from zero to mastery, go to the link in the description and grab the
full detailed course now. There's a big discount running right now. So take advantage of it before
it's gone. See you in the next lesson, my friend.
