We’re hitting the trails in Moab, Utah for the 2nd Annual ZR2 Red Rock Rally, where Chevrolet ZR2 trucks from across the country come together for an unforgettable off-road adventure.
Day 3 of our Moab wheeling takes us onto 3D Trail. The trail starts out in a sandy wash with some fun, fast-paced sections before climbing high onto a mesa. As we make our way up, we’re rewarded with incredible views of Moab while tackling rocky ledges, steep climbs, and technical obstacles that keep things exciting, including some big wheel lifts along the way.
From sand washes to technical rock sections, this trail delivers a little bit of everything that makes Moab off-roading so iconic.
Whether you’re here for ZR2 builds, Moab trail runs, off-road tips, or just the chaos and fun of wheeling with friends, you’re in the right place.
What's going on guys? We are back with another video. My name is Armando and in today's video
it is day three of the Red Rock Rally and I am here with the Red Group and today we're going
to be doing the 3D Trail. The trail starts off easy with a steep sandy descent that drops us
right into a fun fast-moving sandy wash. So we are in the lead truck here with Mike and we are
using the official Red Rock Rally sponsor Trails Off-Road for mapping. If you've never known about
Trails Off-Road you can see here on the screen it works with CarPlay and Android Auto and what's
really cool about it it has waypoints letting you know what is coming up next. So you can see there
we have the S-turns coming up and that is exactly what we are doing. As you can see coming up there
it's kind of a tight little S-turn coming up which is really cool and this is all along the entire
trail. It shows you waypoints of all the different obstacles upcoming and you don't have to really
guess what you're going to come across next. So if you're interested make sure to go check them out.
I do have a discount code for 25% off an annual membership that is code outlandishoverland make
sure you guys check them out. This is where 3D starts to change. The sandy washes turn into slick
rock obstacles as we begin our climb up onto the mesa. We got this nice little steep hill climb.
I'm sure on camera it probably looks pretty mild hill but if I were to guess it's probably I would
say 18-19 degrees of pitch and the other thing is it's also wet and slippery. As you can see there
Mike is kind of struggling a little bit to get traction there from all the rain that's happened
last couple days and he is up. One by one the rest of the group made their way up the hill.
If you missed out on the fun of the 2025 Red Rock Rally you won't want to miss this year's event
happening October 16th through the 19th. You can find out more information on our Facebook page
under the events tab. The link will be in the description below. If you aren't subscribed make
sure to hit that subscribe button and the notification bell that way you don't miss out
on any more future videos. Well after some already fun trail riding we have pit stopped here for
lunch off of the 3D trail. This is kind of the main overlook that you can do
and highly recommend checking it out because the views from this one are beautiful.
After taking in the views it was back to tackling more obstacles and seeing what the ZR2s can really
do. Yeah give me a little bit of a bump coming up that yeah there you go. This was the hardest
mandatory obstacle on the trail. It may not look like much on camera but this hill is steep and
has a few dips in the slick rock that make this climb more challenging. Yeah.
While in the process of walking up the hill we had a little incident.
Got high centered on this rock so he is working on and don't don't give it any gas.
Pulling him out. Should be an easy small little tug backwards.
You guys didn't even hook it up. Oh my goodness.
And he is done. That's all that's needed. That noise you just heard was Mike hitting his lower
rear shock mount on a rock. We were able to back him up and reposition him so we can get
up the obstacle without getting hung up.
Owen was the first one to take the harder line up this obstacle. That's one of the best parts
about these trails. There are often multiple ways up each with its own level of difficulty.
Good job.
As you saw there Shane's ZR2 wasn't actually engaging the lockers even though the dash
showed they were activated. Because of that we decided to take the easier line up the obstacle
and make it through.
He's on a rock on the slider.
This next obstacle might not look like much but it puts the truck in a very uncomfortable
off-camber position lifting the rear driver's side wheel several feet off the ground.
You got to get his back tire. I of course had to run over and snap the picture just to show
how high these rear wheels are being lifted off the ground on these ZR2s.
Now you're gonna start climbing. I hope the pictures are cool.
Yeah you want you're gonna want to go a little bit passenger because you have a rock sticking
out there and I don't want that catching your wheel. There you go. Yep. This was the final
obstacle before reaching the last lookout of the day with even bigger and more impressive views
than the one before. So you're gonna want to put your tire because you're gonna nail
that rock that's coming out. So you're gonna want to put your driver tire on this rock.
No because you're gonna hit the ledge that's coming out. So if you want to back up for me
just a hair and then yeah drive up on it. There you go. Thank you. You're welcome.
So you can go that way. There is a ledge sticking out that you're probably gonna nail.
So yeah just give me driver up here. Just like that. There you go.
Give me your driver tire right here. So keep coming. Turn a little bit more.
All right just like that. Straighten out and go up that. You're good. That's gonna come up.
It's right here. This was the final obstacle before heading back to camp for the night.
Gearing up for the hardest trail of the Red Rock Rally, Poison Spider. Little did we know
the weather conditions were going to be much worse than we had anticipated.
