This is way more tough than just regular hiking. It's like your ankles and calf muscles have to
work so much harder to to keep you balanced. And my feet are completely numb, absolutely.
Oh hell yeah, such a nice view though. In winter the mountains are always like this
beautiful shade of blue. I think it's beautiful.
Holy ----.
I think I officially hate walking in snow. Yeah, it makes every step like three times more
difficult. We'll get there, we'll get to the top. I didn't come this far to not.
Shit man.
Oh my god, this sucks. Yeah, I should really get some snowshoes. I'm just sinking every single
step. Oh god. This is without a doubt the steepest, probably hardest hike I've ever done.
I mean mostly because I'm like unprepared. I think I should have had like snowshoes or
at least some trekking poles. Oh my gosh, I'm so tired.
I've come so far. I still think I've probably got like at least 45 minutes ahead of me.
It doesn't feel like I'm making any progress.
I guess I keep sinking with every step. Oh my god.
This sucks. This might be my first and last snow hike.
I'm so thirsty but my water bottle's in my bag.
And it's too much effort to take it off and I might roll down the mountain.
This really is a struggle. Oh my god, I nearly dropped the camera.
And that was the last thing that I filmed before things started to go downhill.
Very, very quickly. I'll tell you more about that including how I got there and how I got frostbite.

videos like this. So yeah, let's talk about how terrible this hike was. Yeah, I've never done a
snow hike before. I did a lot of research about it, about the equipment and the gear that was needed
and I'd read online that this mountain wasn't very hard to hike, although the sites always said
they hiked it in the summertime and they just said there's a lot of like crossbacks and that kind of
thing. I didn't think that there was going to be that much snow that it completely covered all of
the crossbacks, which means that instead of it just being like slightly steep back and forth up
this mountain, it was incredibly steep, like so so freaking steep to get to the top. I nearly turned
around a couple of times but I'd come so far that I just felt like it would be a waste. But yeah, it
was pretty dangerous. Climbing up, it was like on my hands and knees and sometimes the
snow would just slide out from under you and I tried not to lose height or like slide down the
mountain. I've got this backpack that's really heavy. I didn't have enough time to to do anything
when I got to the top. I like walked around. I was gonna have some lunch but I decided to turn
around and come back and my hands were so cold. We all know what it feels like to not be able to
feel your hands or your toes or something because it's cold but this was, this was different. This
was something else and at one point it got like, it got kind of like serious, like I felt really
like, I was like, I think I might lose my finger. I feel like I'm gonna lose a finger if I stay out
here for too long. Like it was, it was getting really bad. At one point I had to stay inside
like the only building that had a, you know, an open space that could shield me from any wind
or cold or whatever. I had no heat in my hands at all. There was nothing to warm them up so I had to
like take off my neck warmer and wrap it up in my hands and like just like breathe hot air into them.
I need to get off this mountain. And like it was so painful and at one point I started to get some
feeling back into my hands and my hand was going red-ish, you know, like it was getting some blood
back in but my left, this finger was just white, the whole time just completely white. I was a
little concerned, not gonna lie, tiny, tiny bit concerned. I didn't think too much of it. Later
though I got the feeling back and I was like, okay cool, my finger still hurts a little bit,
this should be fine. But then like a week later I noticed that the skin on my finger was just like
flaking off, like it was just peeling off so easily. I didn't know what it was at first and
then I remembered I got frostbite on my finger. Like it wasn't like full-blown frostbite, I didn't
lose my finger obviously, it's still here, but yeah it was like mild, a mild form of frostbite
which has never happened to me. It was incredibly painful and then on my way down from the mountain
I realized it was actually easier and safer in a way for me to slide down on my bum but then
at one point the slide got way too fast and I couldn't get a grip on the ground and it was just
terrifying. I thought that I was going to just slide and tumble down this mountain and hit a tree
and die. Okay yeah, it's not fun anymore. **** this. That was scary, that was really scary.
It was, yeah, it was, it was a little terrifying. Thinking about it now it's, it's making me sweat
a little. It was not fun and uh yeah, wouldn't recommend it. But yeah, all in all it was a pretty
miserable day. I got some nice shots I guess. It was a, it was a pretty wild, wild experience and
I experienced some very, very cold temperatures that I've never experienced while hiking so
there's that at least. But yeah, overall not enjoyable at all. Apparently this place is
really beautiful in summer and spring and autumn and that kind of thing, so if you would like to
go here then the way that I got here was I went to Nagahama station and then from there I caught
a bus to the trail entrance. I will put a link down below for the site that I used to get
information about Mount Ibuki. So thank you so much for watching this video, even though I'm
sure it was a bit of a bummer. There'll be another video coming up next, I'm not gonna say next week,
I'm no, making no promises because I have a lot of procrastination skills at the moment. But yes,
there'll be a video coming up soon where I'm going on a much happier trip. But until then,
have a wonderful day, week, year, month. Don't know why I said it in that order.
Yeah, thank you for watching and I'll see you guys next time. Bye!
I just swallowed shards of ice.
