Inside a Huge New Home in Summerville with Acreage

You're not supposed to be able to build a brand new, new construction house over an acre lot in the Somerville Historic District, but here we are. Let's get after it. Before we even go inside, let's just look at this 1.18 acres in the historic Somerville District, and no HOA, no one to tell you what to do. In today's Somerville market, if you want this much land, you're usually driving pretty far out, or you're remodeling something historic. And well, I gotta tell you, this is brand new. So let's go check it out. All right, guys, today we are here at this house you are gonna wanna check out, so don't go anywhere. And of course, Tasha is back with me and baby Lily. We're back. They're back. These don't come along very often. These are like a unicorn, you know? Like these don't happen very often. So right on the front porch, right out of the gate, I just wanna show you guys. So the driveway comes in right off Marion Ave. Oops, I gave it away. You blew it! Right here into this nice, big, huge, easy-to-turn-around-in driveway. You've got your two-car garage, which we'll check out here in a minute, because you're gonna wanna see what's special about that. But you also have this wraparound deck. So this is great. Now, here's one of the best parts about this home in this home site. And I say home site specifically because this is a big chunk of acreage here. All of that is part of it. So can you see like the kids playing out there, doing their bows and arrows? You know, you could, I mean, it's tons and tons of space. I can put a zip line from like here to there. That would be awesome. And you've got this part of the deck as well. So really cool exterior front porch. You got the fans out here so you guys can enjoy it in the summer. Gas lanterns. You gotta have the gas lanterns. Like, come on, that's traditional. Walk in and the first thing you see is some stairs, which you know I love. You do love a good set of stairs facing you right when you walk in the front door. So as we walk in the front door, I'm just gonna point out real quick because Tasha's blowing right past it, which is funny, tech closet and your coat closet. So coats there, you got your tech there. That's where your internet will come in. And then you can, you got shelves for storage. Sorry, I like just getting into the meats and potatoes of the house. I'm aware that you do. So right out of the gate, I just, I love the detail. I love the curb archway. I love the floors. It sets it up for this amazing kitchen. Oh, what'd you say about the floors? I like the color. I know, right? They're nice. They're a nice color. And this is real wood too. Ooh, really? Mm-hmm. Even better. So you got this amazing kitchen, which is kind of the focus. I mean, this is the center focus of the whole house. Very nice. This is a real nice kitchen. Pretty nice kitchen. Nice. So you can easily fit four people. You've got storage on this side. This is everything. I know, these cabinets, look at these drawers. And you know what? I like the style of the cabinets. It's not the shaker. It's not, this is more of a modern style cabinet. A thinner, kind of thinner line here. Do you guys see that? I don't know if you can see that in the video, but it's just not your typical white shaker that you're seeing in every single house across America. I've never seen this before, but I think this is what this is. Spice? It's a spice shelf. It's a spice shelf, yeah. That's exactly what it's for. That's ******* awesome. Isn't this awesome? So this, you've got, not only do you have a huge, powerful vent that's gonna suck anything that you're cooking on here out. That's crazy. But it does give you, they thought of this. Somebody, they must've been European. Whoever built this house was European and was like, hey, cooking is the on point of our lives. That's freaking awesome. Love, L-O-V-E this pot filler. Can we talk about this? Do you see that? That is all me right there. Like the little bit of grooves. Yeah, see that though? Why is it so big though? What do you mean? Did you see how big your six burner gas cooktop is? I guess I didn't like to look at this. I mean, holy crap, if you wanted to make it over here, you can do it. Anyways, this kitchen is fantastic. This is a really nice kitchen. Love the farmhouse sink. Love the appliances, commercial. The modern farmhouse sink. It is the modern farmhouse. But look at this, Tasha. You have a drink and ice chest down here. Nice. Totally separate from the fridge and freezer combo. And I love this. Whatever this is, more homes need to do this. It's just a centerpiece, but it's cool. You just gotta keep it neat though. That's the only problem with having something like that. Is this house really for sale? Because this looks too good to be true. Yes, this house is really for sale. So if you wanna know more about this one, you just gotta hit me up. I'll tell you all about it. But look at that fireplace. I like it. It's cool. I would actually put some tile on it just to add a little pop, right? But it's still beautiful nonetheless. Is this like a side screen porch? So yeah, this is kind of like a backyard side screen porch type scenario going on. I am very, very sneaky, sir. Well, and that's the nice part. I mean, I don't hate it. It's a little small, but. You're in historic downtown Somerville. It's pretty compressed. And I gotta tell you, you've got a good amount of privacy here. Now here's the one. I like the blue ceiling, too. The hank blue? Yeah, I don't know why, but it's giving a little pop. I kinda like it. So that would probably be my only pickup. The blue? No. What? The house. Well, I mean, you're not gonna sit right here and come back here. No, but it's just, I'm just saying. Well, I guess you can't come back here either because you got the door there. Privacy purposes, you know. But hey, we're in historic Somerville. You can't expect a whole lot. And the fact that this house is sitting on this amount of acreage is pretty amazing. It is nice. All right, look at this. So they've sodded this for you. This is nice. You could put a pool back here. No, Lily. This would actually be perfect for like- I don't want you to go boom, boom. A stamped patio area. All right, she wants to see you very badly. Oh, she wants to see me? Come on, girl. Let's go. Look at this. It's actual grass and backyard space, what we don't have now. Well, that's because you wanted a pool. Well, the pool was a good choice. Also, look at this. Oh, she's coming. All this great stuff all the way down there. Where are you going, girl? This way. Come on, back this way. All right, let's go finish the rest of the house inside. Let's check it out. Come on, Lily. Before we head back inside, this would be a good time to point out they've got the Rinnai tankless water heater. We have now. Which is new. And you do have two brand new HVAC units, both train, so. They have a garden back here somewhere. At least I smell herbs. I don't know why. It's probably landscaping. Or maybe it's these things. Yeah. I don't know. Something smells herby. Herby? Hey, Lily, before you go upstairs, let's show this. Come here, girl. You also, right across from your entrance, your front door, you've got this great drop zone. So, book bags, dog food, all that great stuff. Dog leashes. Maybe you're not a dog person. Huh? Is this a bedroom? Yes, so this is a downstairs bedroom. Good size. And, guess what, Tasha? No wire shelves. I'm so excited. I'm not gonna talk about that anymore. I know, I know. I keep bringing it up. I'm gonna let it go. Let it go. All right, so, full bathroom. Now, here's my only issue with this. And let me know what you guys think in the comments. Okay. And this is small potatoes. There's no half bathroom. So, that means, like, anybody that comes to your house to visit, right, who has to use the restroom has to use whosoever, you know, like, the shower's always gonna be here. You gotta make sure your shower is kept clean at all times. That's essentially what I'm saying. True. I mean, you would have to make sure your half bath's always clean, too. The toilet's gotta be clean. You can't have little skid marks on there. All right, we're going upstairs. Found you, found you. Let's go. We're going upstairs. Come on, girl, let's go. Look at this area that we are in in the historic district. Huge, beautiful oak trees. The Estee Lauder home is right over my shoulder. So, guys, as far as location goes, this is creme de la creme. When you think about people who are wanting to relocate to Somerville and they get that historic vibe feel that they're looking for but here's what most people don't understand about historic Somerville is that it's essentially all built out. There's very few parcels of land left that are like this, okay? Very few. And I gotta tell you, the large parcels usually are going for a high price point, somewhere over 250,000 an acre. So, again, finding something that's 1.18, you're so close to restaurants, shops. I mean, Hutchinson Square is minutes away. You are just minutes from all of the great parks. And then as I've been here, I've been seeing people walk their dogs up and down the road here. Marion Ave is a lively street. And the best part is no HOA, guys, no HOA. And you see this driveway I'm walking down? This is beautiful. So, if you're wanting new construction in the historic district, you're either finding a rare custom infill like this one or you're not getting it at all because finding a new construction home in the historic district is not easy. All right, back to the tour. All right, now, before we go right, we're gonna go left. But before we do that, I just wanna show everybody how cool are these wrought iron and wood stairs. And they brought the flooring upstairs, love that. But check out this little spot. What'd you do, put a little couple desks here? Have the kids learn? There's plenty of time for learning later. I just put a centerpiece type thing here, maybe a little couch. Well, a couple of chairs. A couple of chairs, a little centerpiece. Yeah, it's nice. Now, if you guys are wondering how, Ryan, how big is this house? Like, how many bedrooms? How many baths? Approximate square footage, Ryan? You don't have to wait, I'm gonna tell you. But look at this, right? You ever seen a laundry room have quartz counters and a sink and soft-closed drawers? Some people don't even have soft-closed drawers in their entire life, let alone the laundry room. This is luxury. It's luxury in historic Somerville. So, bedroom number two. Okay, so this is bedroom number two. Little bit bigger than the last one, I think. Oh, yes, much bigger. Little bit bigger. Not a little bit bigger, much bigger. Much bigger. You got another walk-in closet there, right? So we're not gonna spend too much time. You guys know what these closets look like. Good spot, space. Hey, get over here. Come here, Lily. And then another full bathroom. And check this out, Tasha. These bathtubs, these aren't like the cheap ones that they put in. They're the ones that you can survive a nuclear blast if you got inside of it. They actually do look really nice. Four, three, two, one. Yeah, they're nice. And I don't know if you've noticed this, and I'm just gonna point this out. The doors, solid wood. Not hollow-core doors. So, good stuff. Bedroom number three, Tasha. Ooh, might be getting to a hint. How many bedrooms? Number three. Uh-huh. And then closet. And then this one also has a bathroom attached to it. I know, it's tight though, right? Yeah, just a bit. It's a little tight. I mean, like, I like this. I like it a lot. I like the tile choices. But yeah, for, if you're gonna stick a kid in here, you know, maybe. It's a little, I don't know. It's just small. This is, I like that, this is. We're gonna enter the master domain. I have to make a, cause this is a little different than what we're normally used to seeing on this channel. Yeah, it's like a whole, like, area. I don't even know what to do with this. Yeah, right? This is, I like it though. Stop talking, let's show them. They're here to see. I know they're here to see, but I'm like, I'm soaking it all in as we're in the bathroom. 48 inch by 24 inch tiles. Is a tub. Forget your towels. Look at this tub. It's amazing. You got those soft closed drawers. I know you don't like the brown. No, I'm not a fan, but I love the bathroom. The bathroom's great. You got your toilet closet there, but look at the shower, Tasha. Let's just talk about the shower for a second. You got huge three piece glass set up. So it's see-through, which is fantastic. You do have your octagon tile on the floor. I love the vertical, the vertical tile. Yup. And then of course, my favorite thing in the world, rainfall showerhead. If you've never experienced a shower with a rainfall showerhead, I don't know what you're doing with your life. Like you need to, you need to get it together because- What is everybody doing with their lives? It's amazing. Nothing. It's a game changer. All right, moving on. Let's go Tash. All right, I'm going. Come on, baby Lily. You want to see this too. Ooh, closet number one. Hallway, we get this. Okay, yeah, but just show me this. Like what, what's your thoughts? Like- I like it. You like the doors that open out into the- I like that there's a door that shuts you and you have like a whole hallway thing happening in here. I don't know. You do? I don't know why I like it, but I do. Opening these doors, I don't know. Like, cause I'm standing next to you and you're hitting me in the face with a door. Well, I mean, don't stand in front of the door. Oh yeah, that's right. Duh. I'll try not to. I mean, you can walk in here. Yeah, you got a little bit of walk in. This is enough for me. That's all I need. Or maybe this- This is not enough for me. No, this is for you. That's for me. Yeah, there's a little, little hallway closet. This is, this is tiny. So this is a his and hers, but it's like- It's crazy though, because there's a lot of space in that bathroom. Like empty space. I'm aware. Like they should have just shaved off a little bit from the bathroom. It's a, it's, you never usually hear me say that, but I will say that they should have shaved off a little bit from the bathroom. This is a nice house. Ooh. This is- Oh, this is not a true bed. That is not a true bed. This is a staged home, Tasha. I just sat on- It is staging furniture. You just sat on a mattress, air mattress. Air mattress. What did you find there, girl? All right. Thank you. So, what do you guys think of this home? Well, we got to talk pricing, because we haven't talked that. So let's go downstairs to that beautiful kitchen. Let's talk pricing. All right, guys. So we just got down here to tell you about the pricing, and Tasha goes, we forgot the garage. Dun, dun, dun. Let's go check it out. Let's go check it out, because I did tease that in the beginning. I was like, you guys are going to want to see this garage, and why? So again, let's just point something out. Massive driveway, okay? So if you're somebody that's okay with parking your car outside, you have plenty, plenty of parking space. You want to put a motor home here. You've got a motor home parking pad. You want to put a boat here. You've got the space for it. Now, it's a two-car garage, detached garage. The only thing I would say this is missing is a frog. I really think this could have benefited from a frog, just because of the location that we're at, but I do want to show you this. This is pretty incredible. These are 20-foot ceilings for the garage. Now, I know it's hard to see, because you can't really get an idea, but these are huge ceilings. Huge ceilings. And that's awesome, because you could put a car lift in here. You could put a three-car lift. So you could put six cars in here if you wanted to. Again, don't know what, if you own six cars, but there's always those options. Now, the other thing you could do, Tasha, because we don't have a whole lot of storage in that house, because that was the one thing I was like, man, where are you going to put everything? You could do a walkable storage system up here. You could build it up. So definitely some options when it comes to this home. And you're not in an HOA. That's the better part of this. You're not in an HOA. So if you want to build another unit, you want to put a, maybe you want to put something down there. All you got to do is build it. You still have a ton of backyard space. I think it's fantastic. This is four bedrooms, four full baths, two car garage, right? So here's the best part. Not only are we in this historic district, but you are in DD2 schools. Nice. So again, if schools are a big issue for you, you are doing good. You're zoned Somerville Elementary, Alston Middle, and then Somerville High, which is fantastic. Now, you're probably like, Ryan, just get to the damn price already. Okay. So to be here in historic Somerville, three minutes from shopping, all the best things. You can walk to Hutchinson Square from here. Guys, we're so close to Azalea Park. So close.
