Out here exploring these insane pieces of ice. What an incredible experience.
Hey everyone and welcome back to my channel. I have just spent the last two weeks in Greenland.
This trip was extremely spontaneous. My friend Caroline and I booked our flights just five days
before we had to get on a plane and fly to Greenland. Our journey starts in Iceland where
we boarded the three-hour flight to Nuuk, Greenland's capital city. Upon arrival we
realized there had been a miscommunication with our accommodation for the night. We have no
communication with our hosts so we're stuck here for a little bit. What do you think is going to
happen? In time we figured it out and stayed the night in this cozy basement suite right on the
water with a great view. So there was a little bit of a mix-up last night with our pickup time at the
airport but it all worked out. The owner of the camp that we're headed to offered us a room at
their parents' place and we just had a great morning so everything's worked out. We're headed
to the camp today. We are being hosted by Nomad Greenland and are headed out to one of their
remote camps only accessed by boat. Which Teletubby are you? Po? Which one's the red one? I have no
idea. This is the uniform for our boat ride. This is Annika. She is our guide. Hi. We have what an
hour and a half boat ride? Yeah an hour and 15 minutes I would say. Out to a very remote camp
Exactly. You ready Caroline? Yeah. Okay we're ready. We're in our Teletubby suits. We're gonna go.
Let's do it. This boat ride blew my mind. It was just over an hour of non-stop insane mountain
views. Annika told us that this mountain range, the Iswa Greenstone Belt, is one of the oldest
in the world dating back to 3.8 billion years. Another fun fact, not far from the camp that we
will be staying at, the first signs of life in the form of bacteria were found in the nearby mountains.
Wild right? Greenland is already blowing my mind and it's only day one. We have officially arrived
at Camp Ketua. That boat ride was incredible as you just saw. I think we're gonna die on the next
dive because it's so beautiful. So pretty that we can't. I almost perished on this one. Welcome to
Greenland. Here she comes to get us. Here we go. Hi Jim. Hello. Time to go check out the tents.
We stayed in these tipi style glamping tents. The tents are heated with a memory foam bed that has
a heating blanket to keep you extra cozy. Each tent also has its very own washroom tent equipped
with hot and cold water, a shower, and flushable toilets. It's quite the luxurious camp experience.
Since Ketua is only open from June to September, it gets completely packed up at the end of each
season to minimize human impact on the landscape. It is 9am here at camp and it's time for breakfast
so I'm headed to the main tent to get some food. The main tent is super cozy and even has an
espresso machine. This is how we started each day and breakfast was always delicious. During our
time here, some of the days were super nice and we got to spend lots of time outside hiking and
taking in the views but the weather here changes pretty quickly so we also got to do a little bit
of storm watch. Our last day at camp was a stunner so we decided to head out onto the water to check
out some icebergs. Okay so this video is supposed to have audio but somehow I messed it up but
basically I'm just telling you that we are going to stand on an iceberg today and we need to put
on these dry suits in case we fall into the water. Okay so what are we doing here? Getting out
Okay so you gotta squat
Icebergs are unstable so we had our guide bow there to keep us safe and supervise the fun being
had. We ended the day in some kayaks. It might not look like it in this shot but we always kept a
safe distance. Icebergs can break and flip without warning and this one did. Whoa. That's a wrap for
Kitua. It's time to move on to the next camp. Just wait until you see where we are going next.
After spending four days at Kitua, it was time to move on to Nomad Greenland's second camp
which is located in the small town of Sakak in Disco Bay. There are no roads connecting towns
in Greenland so we hopped on another flight. I lucked out and got to sit in the jump seat during
our landing. I think this is mostly only offered to children but I'll take it. We were greeted at
the airport by our host Jan from Nomad Greenland and promptly boarded another RIB boat for a two
hour ride to the next camp. Before leaving Ilulissat, we floated over to check out the towering
icebergs in the ice fjord. These icebergs calve off of a nearby glacier at one of the few places
where the Greenland ice cap enters the sea. Ilulissat is also a great place to see whales.
We spotted a small pod of humpbacks on our way out. They come here to feed on large groups of
krill and small fish so it's a perfect place to seek them out especially with the epic backdrop
of the icebergs. Two hours later we arrived in Disco Bay and were greeted by the massive
icebergs that float here. Nomad Greenland's newest camp is located next to the small fishing town of
Sakak, one of the oldest settlements in Greenland. We are staying in these cozy glamping
tents here at Nomad Greenland. It's a stormy day today so let's go inside and give you the tour.
This is our glamping tent that we're staying in. When we go inside it's nice and cozy. There's a
memory foam mattress here with electric heating blankets and there is a propane heater to help
keep you warm. I've been like backing up photos and doing some work from there and then let's
go to the bathroom. These are our jackets here that we wear on the boat. We head in here. This
shower is amazing. It gets so hot and then there is a composting toilet and me. It's been really
nice having a bathroom attached to the tent versus Kiatua which is separate. I think I like this
design a little bit better. This way you stay warmer when you have to go pee in the middle of
the night. Anyway that's the tent tour. This is our home and we love it. This camp has arguably one of
the best views anywhere in the world. Even with an overcast sky and rain it's an absolute vibe.
Like come on. These icebergs float right in front of the camp and this is our view every single
morning. This adorable arctic fox kit hung around camp each day. She is the absolute cutest thing
ever. Although I think she may have been orphaned because I didn't see any other foxes around during
our stay. Hello. Just like the last camp the coffee situation is ideal. Hey I'm a Starbucks girl.
I know that's super basic but I'm here for it. Okay so right now the group is all getting ready
to go for a little rainy walk to the nearby village of Sekak. We're gonna go see the Greenlandic
dogs which I'm super excited about and just tour around the shops and check out the town. So let's
go. The village is only a short walk away from camp so Caroline and I visited more than once.
These guys are what kept us coming back. The Greenlandic dogs. They are a husky type dog bred
for pulling sleds over long distances and can live outside in the cold arctic weather which
they actually prefer. Since they are working animals not domesticated pets it's important
not to approach them. Their closest relatives are wolves after all so it's best to keep your
distance unless given permission from their handler. There is one exception to this rule though.
These cuties roam free and are incredibly playful. Oh my goodness. Oh my goodness.
Come here. Let's get a selfie together guys. Come here. Oh my goodness I'm in heaven.
Okay okay no biting the jacket. My sister's gonna kill me after this.
I gotta buy her a new jacket. Yeah get it. Staying at these camps honestly felt so surreal.
Every morning I would walk out of the tent and my mind was blown all over again. One of my favorite
moments was when Jan took us out on the rib boat to check out the massive icebergs that float right
in front of the camp. Out here exploring these insane pieces of ice with Jan. These are just so
cool. What an incredible experience. That's a wrap for the camp at Disco Bay. We're headed out
back to Ilulissat right now and apparently the weather is going to be cold like minus 50 with
wind chill so we are bundled up wearing so many layers. Let's go. Greenland has been an absolute
dream and I am stoked that I was able to share my experience with you. If you have any questions
about traveling in Greenland feel free to hit me up in the comments. I respond to everyone and I'll
also be sharing a bunch of photos and short form video on my ig as well so head over to atlina

Thank you so much for watching and we will see you in the next one. Oh it's flipping. Oh my god
a huge one's flipping. Straight ahead the one with all the cracks. It's next to the one with the
cracks. Holy. The one with the cracks. I think they're. I see the one with the cracks. Whoa it's
but now I see it. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. You see it moving still? Yeah it's like sinking.
I just want it to break in half.
