There are different types of celebrations for International Women's Day.
Although we can celebrate the fact that we've come a long way, there's still much ground to cover.

I don't like to talk about Women's Day in particular.
One day is just a drop in the ocean and it doesn't change much.
Women around the world are still fighting for their rights to study,
the rights over their bodies, the rights to be independent.
This is a month of awareness and still a month of fights.
I bought this glass in Brazil and it says
Proibido pisar nos sonhos.
It's forbidden to step on your dreams.
I feel like I'm a lucky person and I recognize that privilege.
I never gave up on my dreams because of discrimination.
But that is not the case for many, many women.
In so many cultures and sometimes in their own families,
women are not forbidden to dream.
They cannot follow their guts if they dream of becoming a scientist or a pilot, for example.
In some places, they cannot even dream about having any sort of job,
as they are supposed to grow up, get married, have children and raise them.
So this month, March 2024, let's tell the girls we know
that they should never step on their dreams.
That we are all fighting for their future.
And let's also remind ourselves that this month is not only about celebration.
You're going to get a lot of roses and people saying congratulations to you.
Although it serves as a global platform to celebrate the achievements of women
across various social, economical, cultural and political spheres,
it should be more about our future.
We should focus on education and raising awareness about issues faced by women,
such as gender inequality, discrimination and violence.
We should focus on calls to action for individuals and organizations
to work towards achieving gender parity.
We need more people advocating for policy changes,
supporting initiatives that empower women and challenging harmful stereotypes.
We should focus on amplifying the voices of women together,
particularly those from marginalized communities.
A lot of laws and policies in place were created with only white women in mind,
leaving women of color unsupported.
And that is unacceptable.
There's so much to change.
Let's use this month as a symbol of a daily fight
against discrimination and inequalities.
Do your part.
Speak up.
Prepare yourself to talk better about you and about the women around you.
Together, we are stronger.
We are better.
And we're gonna get this.
