Hi friends, welcome back. In today's video I'm adding some festive touches to our newly made
over bedroom. This room is already so cozy. It's just got such a layered and interesting feel
about it. I knew that Christmas in here was going to feel really unique and really beautiful. I'm so
happy with the way that it came out, but before I get into the Christmas decorating,
I have a couple of finishing touches that I'm just kind of now getting around to putting on
the room, like these little lampshades that I've added to the sconces. They play perfectly into
kind of that sophisticated old world charm that we have going on in here, but they really help
to soften the light. Now for a side of the room that you didn't see in the reveal. I know I spoke
about it in the initial plans. I wanted to do a fireplace mantle over here as a focal point, but
the plans that I had didn't really work out and I revealed the room without it. Just a few short
weeks after that, this one popped up on Facebook Marketplace, brand new in box for only $100,
and I think it's honestly even better than anything that I had envisioned. Now of course we
mounted this to the wall to make sure that it's nice and secure, and a little trick is to use some
painter's tape if you've got a kind of a double mount like this so you don't have to measure the
distance. You do have to measure like how far up on the wall, make sure you've got it centered, but
using this method makes it so much easier. I'm so happy that we were able to find a mantle before
Christmas. I was really bummed that we didn't have it for the reveal, so if you noticed that you
didn't see this part of the room, that's why. It's not because I was trying to hide it, but it was
just there was nothing really to see over here, so I'm very excited about it. I do have an idea of
what I want to do to the inside of it because I don't, I love the wallpaper, but I want this to
be its own kind of focal feature, and the wallpaper goes all around the room so I don't feel
too bad covering up a little bit of it. So we are going to revisit that. I think though it's time to
get some Christmas decor up because it's December, and if I want to have a good amount of time to
enjoy this room dressed up for Christmas, I need to get started now. So I think the best place to
start is with the tree. Balsam Hill has partnered with me to bring this vision to life this year,
so I'm so excited. They are sponsoring today's video, and the tree that I picked out for this
room is from Balsam. This is the five foot green witch estate tree. Now I got a little bit creative
because I didn't want to do a full-size tree in here. I just, I don't want to like try to squeeze
around the tree. I want it to fit in here nicely, so I went with this tree that I think is actually
made for outdoors. Like I think people usually put these on their porches, but what I love about them
is the urn style planter base. I think that's so sophisticated and elegant and fits perfectly for
the vibe of this room. The planter base is sold separately. It does come with a standard base as
well as a stake base, some fluffing gloves, and anything you might need for light replacement.
I also got these star capiz ornaments. I used some of these downstairs on the tree as well. I was
just obsessed with the whole capiz line. I love the translucent pearlescent look about it. The
light looks so beautiful coming through it. I actually have the garlands as well, and you can
see just how pretty they are with the lights coming through. Also, if you saw our new tree
topper, it is also part of the capiz line. This whole line is just so pretty and so dainty. I'm
also using a wreath from Balsam as well. This is actually again, kind of an outdoor one. It is
pre-lit, which I love. I think I want to hang it above the bed though, and I love the versatility
of being able to use it outside if I want to next year. The thing that I love so much about Balsam
and the reason that they're a household name is because the products are so beautiful and they are
heirloom quality pieces. These are things that you will keep in the family for years to come.
I have been so impressed by every piece that I've gotten from Balsam. If you're looking to invest
in some high quality pieces for your holiday decor this year, I will link everything that
I'm using this year down below in the description box. You can use my code BHKRISTAM for $50 off of
your order of $250 or more. Let's get this tree decorated. Here's a look at some of the other
items that I gathered for this tree. It's so different than any tree I've ever done before,
but I love the way it came out. I think having a tree that's a little bit smaller feels,
I don't know, like you can get a little more creative with it and you don't have to buy so
much to fill it. I found this shimmer ribbon. It's supposed to be like a taupe, but it does
come off as kind of a pinky champagne color, but I think it's really beautiful in this room.
I've never done a technique like this with the ribbon before. Really, there wasn't a technique,
I guess, but I tied just a bit to the top and a bit to the bottom and then
tucked the ribbon in a little bit as it kind of cascades down and added some bows.
I just kind of randomly got a vision for it and I think it turned out really well. I love the
tassels. They really feel very fitting for that old world feel in here. We've got tassels kind of
throughout the room, so I felt like that was a great addition to the tree. And then, of course,
the clip-on candles are just classic. Now, these candles in particular, the little bases are so
cute, but they are kind of a flimsier metal and you do have to squeeze the center pieces in so
that your candle fits nice and snug in there. I saw some people saying in the reviews that they
used hot glue to keep them in place. I also thought sticky tacky would be great, but definitely
something to note before purchasing so you know what to expect if you're looking to get these.
I think the key to making any design feel cohesive is to use repeating elements, so using the same
ribbon in multiple areas of the room. I will also use that tree ribbon in another part of the room
and actually mix the two together so it feels really well-rounded because everything just feels
like it ties together. Another magical little detail I'm adding is this rotary candle. This is
so pretty. When Jameson saw this for the first time, he was completely enthralled.
Facebook Marketplace came through once again with this mirror. I paid $10 for this mirror. It is a
wooden framed mirror, so it's not plastic, and I love when I can find a vintage wooden mirror.
It's an amazing shape as well. A lot of times I feel like when I find mirrors like this,
they'll have a lot of chipping on them and need some repair, but this one really was just
a very lucky find, I would say. I really love traditional classic design, things that I feel
like are going to stand the test of time, but every now and again I do like to play with trends.
In small ways, like this ribbon. I've been seeing this kind of multi-ribbon thing the last
couple of years, but more specifically this year I'm seeing it, and I love it. I think it's really
fun, really easy, a great way to kind of tie your colors in from around the room,
and I've even seen people adding like lace or textured ribbon through your mix,
and I just think there's so many fun things you could do with it. Now I'm a sucker for
long drapey weepy garlands, bows, all of it, so I left mine really long because I just, I,
I love the drama of it. Thank you so much for watching. I hope that you're leaving feeling
more inspired than when you came in. Thank you once again to Balsam Hill for sponsoring today's
video. I will have all of their information along with my code linked down below. I will be doing
the library up next. We are doing a Hogwarts inspired library, so be sure to subscribe if
haven't already, and I will see you guys very soon.
