Tarp and Bivy Camping on a Creek

Well hey friends, welcome back to another episode. Jordan here, West Coast Wild Campers. This week's video we're hiking into a lake and we're going to set up my tarp and my bivvy. We're going to get our camp on. Stay tuned. Well I found a nice little flat spot right here. I'm going to pin my tarp into these roots and just hang it over. In the summertime I camped just over by that downed tree there and it was really nice. I'm just going to clear this area out a bit. I brought my drone. I'll do some drone shots in a bit. So on one end of my ridgeline I just got a loop. I'm going to feed it around the tree. I'm going to put a little bit of rope through the loop and then I just put a stick through it and pull it tight. So I've wrapped my line around the tree. I've got what's called a I'm going to feed my line through the little hook here. I'm going to pull my tension really tight and then I'm just going to wrap it up through that little hook, little bite there and then from there I'll do a trucker's hitch. I'll run my line over some line. I'll make a loop and then I'll pull the line up through that loop. Pull it tight and then boom. Then when I want to take it down I just pull on this, undo that, comes loose really quick. Really awesome. I got a new tarp. I got the Winter Camo 10 by 13 Defender tarp from AquaQuest. They've sent this to me to use in my videos and I'm really grateful for it. I want to give a shout out to AquaQuest. They make the best tarps in the world. This thing's sick. We're going to get this set up and we're going to get to camping. I'm probably just going to do a simple A-frame setup while my tarp's set up. I'm just going to set up my chair and relax for five minutes and drink a pop. Thanks for tuning in folks. Cheers friends. Yeah I got a beautiful little spot here. Lots of coverage. I got one end of the tarp just pinned back so I can still see the good view here at night. I'll just pin it right down to there and good to go. A nice view here. Cheers. I'm gonna get my chair or my table set up and get going on my bivvy and my bedding. Then I'll probably fly my drone and then we'll probably get a fire going and have fun you know. Get to camping. So I've got the new AquaQuest hideaway hooped bivvy. I'm gonna get this thing set up. Takes three stakes at the head end here just like so. Just like that we're set up. Tons of space. I've got my X-Ped Ultra 7R air mattress. We're gonna get this pumped up somewhere around here. I got a little flex tail pump. I've got my Zedlite foam pad. This just helps prevent punctures for my air mattress. Yeah nice little vent there. Also quite a bit of room at the head end so you can put you know a sweater and stuff some gear. This is the One Wind Solstice down top quilt. This thing slides over the air mattress and it's got these clips. I cinched up the the foot end and it's gonna be just like a top quilt. This area here will clip in. There's all these clips and it clips right in. Pretty awesome. I got a Nemo Filio pillow with some shock cord on it. That just will strap around my air mattress too so my pillow doesn't roll away when I'm sleeping. It's really handy. Boom we're all set up. That is cozy. Yeah thanks for tuning in folks. Just chilling under my tarp. That was my first drone flight on a camp. I'll plan on practicing a lot more and hopefully getting some epic footage for you guys. I almost crashed into a tree so I had to put it away. Yeah I'm just looking at my weather app here. It's three degrees celsius right now and it's a low of minus three tonight and at seven o'clock tomorrow morning it's supposed to start snowing but I've got to be out. I'm setting my alarm for 6 a.m. I gotta be up and out of here. I got some stuff to do tomorrow so yeah pretty exciting. Three kilometer an hour winds this weekend so that's really nice. No wind gusts. I've got my corner pulled back but then I'll just pitch it down to there at the end of the night. I'll pull that down and just chilling hanging out. Taking a page out of Kevin small plots with Kevin. It's one of my favorite YouTubers. He does all sorts of stealth camping. Had to take a break from the buns. Too much bread you know. Real low wind though. Between three and five kilometers of wind. So I can handle that. It's been a while since I had a campfire. I'm pretty stoked. Round two. I just walked uh quite a ways from my camp and I'm just hanging my uh food up in this tree. I'm out at this little shelter here. Somebody made a little uh driftwood spot. It'll be a beauty little spot actually to do an overnighter in. Next winter I'll come out here and do an overnighter. Possibly this summer even. Big tree down right here. Oh that's us. You can barely see us with the camo tarp. Well tucking in for the night. We'll uh check back with you in the morning. Good night folks. Well I was just about to crawl into sleep there and I freaking popped my air mattress. Right there. I teared it. Thankfully I got a patch kit. I'm gonna patch it up and I'll get back. Well folks I hate to say it but uh I popped popped a hole in my air mattress. I put a little uh I put a patch on it just in the meantime so I don't lose any more um down insulation. But uh it's it's sleek in air and that patch isn't gonna wear them enough to go home and patch it. Dang it. Oh it's 10 30 right now so I'm gonna get packed up and head home.
