In the final round of the 2026 Valspar Championship, Matt Fitzpatrick shot 3-under 68 to claim his third PGA TOUR victory.
The victory for Fitzpatrick, his third on the PGA TOUR to go along with nine DP World Tour titles, came one week after he had a one-shot lead going to the 17th hole at the TPC Sawgrass only for Young to make birdie and win with a par on the closing hole when Fitzpatrick's tee shot ran through the fairway and forced him to lay up. He missed a 7-foot par putt to force a playoff-- but there was no letdown at Innisbrook.

Dogleg sweeping right to left.
Fitzpatrick was in the bunker with
his second out to hear this for par.
OK, Papa start needed that one to go in.
Fitzpatrick after another good tee shot.
The first really good iron
swing of the day for Fitzy.
You make a three at three.
You're definitely picking up against the field.
And Fitzpatrick.
Needs it. And gets it.
That was good, so it's not a great start,
but right there 100% and you can take
it more the center of the green.
Let the wind work it.
Aggressive swing boy, I think
you can went right underneath that.
Just about anybody's game right now.
Certainly these names we just saw
Fitzpatrick one of them.
He's been brilliant out of the sand this week.
You saw that stat 8 to 9 and players
repeatedly saying this new sand is
making it very difficult to stop the
ball quickly and that one got away from him.
Very difficult putt here.
Really good.
Made that look easy.
And this is Fitzpatrick with a
four iron off the long par 3 8th.
Opportunity here to hit some good
golf shots with the wind helping
it blow over to this left pin.
See two beauties right there, wow.
Fitzpatrick whole high from
about 6 feet for birdie.
Fitzpatrick hit a beauty in here at 8.
It's so many of those over the
last two weeks in that range.
Ever dreamed that one on this?
Just feared left on him.
Still three.
A good score at the 8th Fitzpatrick
remains one under most likely it
plugs if it lands in that into the
breeze like this and up the Hill.
Sound like a good strike on a very good line.
Right at it, or he has been so good
with his iron plate this week.
He's missed some real opportunities.
These last couple of holes
to break away from the pack.
3rd here for Fitzpatrick.
See how I can control it out of this rough.
Yeah, judged it well.
Back, I mean, those save for Matt's
going to stay at one under on the day.
All pars that birdie coming back at the 3rd.
It's been a pin high machine here,
but that one took a big hop there
and down into the trampled grass.
There's that cross hand for Fitzpatrick.
Just off the green.
It's awful looking lie right there, wasn't it?
What touch? Look how fast that is.
Green is less green than.
Part 315 seven birdies here.
174 playing much shorter downwind downhill.
Good looking shot here with a 9 iron.
That's the difference Terry.
Hole high and it's so much firmer
than the very front of this green,
but a beautiful strike there.
15 we go. One of the co-leaders
Fitzpatrick on the way for Birdie.
Let me find a way to make one.
This park there Fitzpatrick was
just a matter of time.
He said it's so close and makes a big one here.
That looked good from the start.
30 footer right here.
You see that little up the hill.
At the players championships crazy how
this whole theme is kind of continuing.
That was 5 word for Fitzpatrick.
Boy, he loves it.
It's on a good line long as
it sits down a little bit.
He gave that a big twirl Woody.
Well, that is perfect.
Absolutely perfect.
What a shot we've had this wind all day.
He's kind of hit cuts to hold it up against it.
And that's exactly what he's trying to do.
Again, this is a good looking shot.
Another club twirl.
I'll just pitched about 3 yards
short of landing on the green
and didn't go anywhere,
but fortunate enough to get into the first cut.
Yeah, love this one in the air.
It's just continuing this steady play
that we saw all last week at the
players championship.
Boy, good looking shot.
Best we've seen at 17 sure was
what a shape to hit that shot.
It took enough time to get
decisive over the ball.
Now a real chance for a birdie here.
Had to look so good until that last moment
and he went down to his knees as this
thing crossed the front of the hole there.
Watch his reaction.
It looks so good.
To his knees.
Taking it low and this is right down the
middle. Absolutely perfect tee shot.
He's not even watching him.
He knows when he touches it where it's going.
119 total uphill plays about 125.
That's just a comfortable shot.
Pitching wedge for Matt.
Right in the hole.
He's to stay there.
OK, stayed on the same level as the hole.
Have a nice look uphill right to the left.
Get it done this week.
It forces Lipski to make a
birdie from the rough behind him.
All 6869 on Friday and probably the clutcher.
Love that emotion out of Maddie Fitz.
What a heck of a part and
come back after last week.
And Fitzpatrick has the win at
the Valspar Championship a week
after the disappointment at the players.
The wait will continue on the PGA
Tour for a win on this tour for Lipski,
but he battled to the 72nd hole and
that's a happy duo right there after
last week's disappointment.
Fitzpatrick comes right back the next week.
And to the 72nd hole,
takes it after the runner
up position last week.
Well, Dan, I'm alongside our champion
here at the Valspar Championship.
Matt Fitzpatrick last week.
Matt told me you were really frustrated
walking off the green on Sunday.
How were you able to channel that
frustration into the win here today?
Yeah, I think the big thing was I
felt like I was playing well.
You know I was playing well
going into this week.
You know I obviously wanted to
continue that and I felt like I
had confidence in myself to do so.
And then obviously to sort of,
you know, do that over four rounds
was was special this week.
Have to ask you about the big putt on
1813 feet for Birdie in 11 previous
times in competition you've never
made Birdie on 18.
How are you able to get that one?
On that whole specifically on 18, sorry.
Yeah, I'll be honest, it wasn't.
It wasn't an ideal putt that I felt like
I it was a nice right to left of us.
But me and my putting coach Phil
have been working on trying to have
less acceleration in my stroke and
it comes out more on the uphill as so.
I wouldn't say I was overly keen on it,
given my putting performance today,
but yeah, to get it to get it
done like that was was special.
Speaking of special,
you had the opportunity to have a
couple of special conversations
before you came up here,
one with your wife,
Catherine, the other with your parents.
What do they have to say?
Yeah, yeah, obviously both both both.
You know, so so excited.
I've not not seen Catherine
for three weeks,
so I'm so excited to get back and see her
and pet my parents are coming out
in a week or so as well so.
Yeah, it's just that it's just such
special special people in my lives and.
Yeah, just just so excited
to share this with them.
Congratulations,
plenty to celebrate your first win
since the 2023 RBC heritage and
we're looking forward to seeing you
back on the golf course very soon.
Thank you. Thanks care.
