How's it going friends? Welcome back. In today's video I'm sharing with you a little antiquing
trip as well as kind of all of the things I've been stockpiling for my Christmas decorating this
year. I found some really good stuff so I'm excited to share that with you but first I want
to take you to Generations. They are the newest antique mall that we have in town I believe
and um you know the first time that I went there I feel like they only had a couple of vintage
booths and then some of the booths kind of seemed a little bit more like flea market like t-shirt
booths and you know kind of newer stuff but the last few times I've gone for one they have expanded
their shop and there are so many more vintage booths in fact I don't even remember if they
have any of those other booths that I was talking about that felt like they were just selling like
newer things. It is a full-blown antique shop and it's a top contender for my favorite these days
like I really find good stuff there. I love the booths that they have there if you're in Wichita
and you have not checked out Generations definitely do that. I also went to Vintage Market Days which
is always like a fun family day for us like anytime we go we don't go every year but
I did buy tickets this year and they have like food and handmade things and some vintage shopping
and so it's kind of a fun like little event to go to as a family so I tried to get a little bit of
footage from that it was super packed in there so it's hard to kind of get footage where other
people aren't in the shot where I'm like not holding people up so I'll share the the little
bit of footage that I did get from there and then I'm going to share the haul with you so let's get
to it. Since the last couple of clips were Vintage Market Days that's a good place to start let me
just show you the things that I got at the market and the first one we're going to start off really
well here I got great stuff I mean I didn't get much but like the few things that I did get from
there I really like and the first one was this lamp I was so excited to find this I have been
kind of lamp crazy lately I feel like especially being a larger room being able to put like two
or three lamps around that are obviously not your overhead lighting really helps to just create mood
and ambience in your room anyway this one I thought was just really pretty I love the pineapple
on it it's got just a pretty base I do think we need a different lampshade this is just from like
a sconce that I previously thrifted and it's honestly it's a little small for the lamp but
I do think a black shade would be good this one is just white on the inside so I think I either
need one that has the metallic gold inside or maybe a sheer black so that we get a little bit
brighter because the bulb's not real bright in this little lamp but anyway this actually looks
really cute in our kitchen so I've been keeping it in there but I don't know that that's its
permanent spot so anyway this one very excited about $14 I'm all about the lamps so then the
other thing that I got from there were all of these ornaments and I think these are so cool
um they're so unique and so different and I love them I don't know they remind me of maybe like
just something that would be on an old piece of furniture um I'm not exactly sure what they're
supposed to look like but I sure do like them they're ornate gold they are very shiny gold I
could age them a little bit but honestly I don't mind it I think especially on a Christmas tree
with lights having anything that's like shiny and will like kind of reflect light looks really
pretty so I actually got four of these and there were two different styles this was the style I
the most with this like pretty kind of leaf leafette I don't know what they call that but
yeah that pretty like leaf detail this was the other one and actually now that I'm seeing it I'm
like oh I should have maybe grabbed more of these because they did I didn't take them all
I left some for other people but I did buy most of them but this one kind of has this like basket
weave pattern to it and yeah actually this one's really cool too but anyway so I got a total of
let's see four of them is that all I got I should have gotten more no it's okay I got four of them
they were four dollars each and yeah I think these are going to be so pretty I don't know which tree
I'm going to use these on yet but a lot of the stuff that I got I kind of got with the intention
to use in the library I'm really excited to decorate the library this year so just to give
a little hint at what's going on up there and by hint I mean I'm just going to tell you what I'm
doing um I am going to be doing kind of a Hogwarts inspired Christmas up there so for anyone who's
not familiar I don't know who's not familiar with Harry Potter but Harry Potter the school
the wizard school is Hogwarts and so magical Christmas that's kind of always my thing like
old world magical it's I infuse that into everything that I do it is at the heart of my
decorating style but I want to lean into the Hogwarts thing a little bit just because I think
with the books like the old books the dark academia feel it'll be really cool so I'm trying to
incorporate more things that feel magical up there and whenever I do any kind of a theme
I always say it's like inspired by I don't want to use like Harry Potter specific things in there
I just want to use things that like give the feeling if that makes sense Jameson is starting
to really like Harry Potter like we watched the first couple with him they get a little spookier
as you go on but he was excited that I was kind of gonna try to do a little bit of that this year
so anyway that's kind of our loose theme for up there I actually just painted that bookshelf
over the weekend so if you want like little updates here and there between videos Instagram
I post over there sometimes and I just recently shared over there that I painted the bookshelf
and kind of showed the process of it so follow me over there if you want more frequent updates but
okay so while we're on the topic of our kind of you know magical Christmas I found a set of three
of these at Generations well these were so cute they are they're just made out of cardboard
but they have been like gold foiled and they're just really pretty I thought these would be
really cute I can either I love like oversized things kind of stuffed in the tree I feel like
it makes it really interesting to have pieces like that so I could use them that way or I can
use them on the shelves somewhere kind of spread throughout so I was excited that they had more
than one first off and the price was really good I got all three for 12 which I feel like was a
pretty good price for these guys so these will go up in the library at least that's the plan
now I've also been on a mantel clock kick and I found another one this one is not like a genuinely
like vintage clock but I love the style of it it's got all this ornate detailing I love the black and
the like kind of brass mix that it has going on and it was only $15 so the reason I picked this
up is because I thought this would look good if it fits it might might be too tall but in the library
at the top for our like Hogwarts Christmas I don't know that was my vision for it will it fit there
will it go there I don't know but anyway I think it's probably made out of a resin or something
and it's like got a painted finish this is not like a like a wooden carved piece or anything
like that but I think for 15 bucks it's got the vibes so then I also got this little like urn
planter it's quite small I love the urn style planters and vases though and my my thought was
to put a Christmas tree in it this one's way too small I had Luke run up to the attic on his lunch
break today to help me get down like a Christmas box so I could put a little tree in here and
unfortunately I didn't realize that I didn't have the right size tree in there so I'll have
to look through the rest of my boxes to see if I have one or if I need to buy one but probably a
tree that's like more so you know yay big would be good in here this was $12 I love that it's you
know a cement style planter and kind of has some aging on it so we need to find the right tree for
this this tree's entirely too shrimpy but you get the idea okay so then also while we're kind of on
the subject of the bookcase I got a set of these and I thought these would be really cute to kind of
put up in the top of the bookcase almost as pillars like to almost look like pillars on
both sides I think they're too tall to fit in the area that I wanted to use them in
but I still think we can use them somewhere they are obviously like candle holders but I just I
liked the style of them I thought that they would I don't know just kind of give us that
architectural feel inside of the bookcase so that's why I picked these up I got the pair for
$25 I don't know that I would have normally picked these up not that I don't like them but I don't
really oftentimes use these like bigger candle holders but I do think we can use them in other
ways or again we don't have the right size tree here but I think this could be a really cute
stand for like little Christmas trees to style so you know I feel like we can definitely do
something with these I don't know I tend to like symmetry in certain areas like the bookcase is a
good place or like on a buffet or something I tend to kind of like symmetry I think it's a little
easier to style that way and so I don't know that's kind of what I was thinking when I bought these
and then I also picked up this little like Christmas candle again I don't really use
candles this size but I thought this one was actually really pretty and it was 40% off of
five dollars so it's got all this like pretty gold detailing and the red color is deep enough
that it kind of works with like the colors that I go for for Christmas the next find I actually got
at an estate sale several months ago I was so excited to find this so this is a department 56
let's see it's the Christmas classic department 56 it's Christmas day said Scrooge I haven't
missed it so um this is obviously just one of the pieces in the collection that had scenes from a
Christmas carol on it and you know for our Dickens Christmas we've got to have a Christmas carol
themed things so anyway I love the scene on this and I just they only had the one so it's not like
I was able to get you know multiple of these to actually use in my table setting but really nice
to use like in the china cabinet or hanging on the wall something like that it was six dollars
I don't remember if this was a sale day very well could have been but either way I was more than
happy to pay six dollars for this whether or not it was on a sale day I love the little scene on
here I'll try to give you like a nice close look uh what is that like a little Nestle's milk shop
in there anyway love this find and um I'll be keeping my eye out maybe I'll be able to like
collect more of those pieces over the years this is the only one that I have found thus far but
now that I know they exist I'll be I'll be looking and collecting also at that estate sale I found
this little ornament that is so cute it's a little paper mache dog he's just like a little
gentleman I thought he's so cute I love the detail on his jacket and he's got like these little
glasses on he's just adorable I actually went on to look these up because I was like I need
a set like this would be so cute if they had a whole set of these especially if they're just
like these little like gentlemen and their little suits anyway I went on to look so these are from
Louis Nicole and oh it says it was made in 1983 we've got a little tag here the one that normally
is sold with him the little cat is like not dressed up in like old timey fancy clothes
so I didn't really like that one as much and I couldn't find any other ones but I sure think
he's cute so anyway I don't remember what I paid for him it was probably just a couple dollars but
I don't I don't have the price anymore so we don't know for sure about him but while we're on
the subject of ornaments I actually got quite a few ornaments when I was over at Generations the
other day this one I think is one of my favorite ones again I thought kind of for the library tree
this one would be good I got it for I guess I paid seven dollars for this guy I must have really
liked it I do though I think it's coming off it's got a little bow at the top and it's got kind of
this I don't know like are we seeing a theme here with the things that I'm picking they all have
these really pretty like leaflet designs and yeah I don't know I clearly like have a thing I'm going
for this year but the cute little tassel on the bottom I love the tassel I just love finding
unique ornaments like this I always when I find them wish that like there were at least like
I don't know three of them or something but that's okay I also grabbed this so for the library tree
I like last year I used a lot of like book page looking decor so I have some star garlands that
look like they're made out of book pages and I use those on the tree I also used paper like
snowflakes I like playing into like the paper aspect of the library and so when I found this
little ornament I thought it would be really cute for that tree up there it's got like a little
little horn on the front and a bow I paid 125 for this guy and then actually these were totally
outside of what I would normally buy but I got these these were from Hudson Hudson Antique Mall
oh let's see yeah so these were four dollars for the whole set so they're like a dollar apiece
normally I wouldn't probably go for like a feathery look like this but I don't know I
guess I was thinking like owl feathers kind of reminds me of Harry Potter I don't know I feel
like I feel like it's gonna fit and give just like a fun texture to the tree if we don't end
up liking it and don't end up using them that's fine but I think I'm gonna try to work them in
you know we're setting the scene and yeah so that's why I picked these up a little bit different
for me now these I actually got last year I don't think I did a Christmas haul maybe is why I didn't
share them but either that or I just forgot I don't know I found them in a bag and I don't even
think I actually used them last year but for Jameson's room I like to use like vintage toys
or like wooden toys in there for his like Christmas decor so I found this little wooden
truck so I thought this would be cute just to kind of decorate in there with my initial plan
was to stain these but I haven't done it so I don't know if I will and then I got a bunch of
these little little cars and again I was initially planning on staining it these could also be fun
if like maybe he wanted to paint them I don't know I don't know like how old these are but I
really like this one with the wood grain I think that one's so cool it like looks like that on both
sides for these little guys I thought I can just glue a little bit of like string so he can hang
these in his tree I think I got them all for like a couple dollars they were not expensive
I don't remember exactly um this one actually looks like oh it was in the Christmas crafts
section of whatever store it was purchased from possibly like Hobby Lobby or something
says it was $1.99 originally hopefully I didn't pay much more than that for it so that's a good
idea you could go to like Hobby Lobby or something and look at their little crafting section and get
little wooden toys to decorate and make ornaments out of or just use like in your kids rooms or
grandkids rooms or or just if you like to have a vintage toy tree you don't have to be a kid to
have a vintage toy tree I think they're really cute oh this isn't particularly Christmas related
but I do think it it's like I actually had it holding that Christmas plate I found one of these
little easels for only seven dollars these are normally more expensive now this one does seem
like it's lacquered and a lot of the ones that I've seen have a really beautiful patina on them
like the ones that are more expensive and this one is like a bit shinier but it's still so pretty
and seven dollars was a really great price for this I like to use these for like displaying plates
or books or whatever just kind of depending on this one this one's probably going to be like
for a plate you could also do like a framed picture in this um it's not a very big space
here but you could definitely put something kind of little in here um so anyway that one wasn't
necessarily Christmas but I do feel like I will be using it for Christmas the last ornament that
I found was this little Santa I just thought he was really cool very like vintage looking
I think it was two dollars for him so it's got this little I got this from Hudson Antiques
and he's really cute I do need to change he's got like this little green hook
up here so I'm gonna change this out for something probably like a gold or like a
bronze or something maybe black okay and then the very last find is quite an interesting one
actually I've never seen one of these before taking I'm using it as a display which it's great
but I found this it says that it is a copper vessel slash candlestick it's a big candlestick
like I'm like would you use like an entire I don't know what kind of candle fits in this
because it's huge but I thought it was so cool it is clearly patinaed for a long time it doesn't
even look copper oh it is copper I guess look at the bottom you can see my thought when I saw this
was it would be really cool to put like use as like a a small Christmas tree base so
something like this you know I mean I kind of feel like it's hard to figure out the scale
because this is so tall that you really want kind of a taller tree but you also have to be mindful
of how small of an opening you have to kind of base your tree in but I thought that would be a
really unique way to use it I also I had ornaments just kind of set on here I feel like you could
style this in many different ways and I just thought it was a really cool piece so I paid
$14 for this again I was like that's such a good price for this and it's got kind of all of this
detail and just a beautiful patina to it I should look this one up I haven't tried to look it up
yet but I mean it's definitely shaped like a like a really big candlestick so I don't know
all right I'm sure there are candles out there that fit this let me look it up here while we're
while we're talking um I always just use google lens if I want to find out more about something
that I have and nine times out of ten I can find something similar so now the thing is will it pick
up on the fact that this is not a normal scale candlestick or will it just assume it's a small
candlestick um it's a Persian style engraved candlestick made of 10 copper pretend copper
or brass yeah there is one on here oh my gosh that person's selling theirs for 160 dollars
okay most of these are sold overseas like they're not here that one is being sold for 850 but it
doesn't look exactly the same um wow okay okay so the one that was is being sold for 160 huge
antique ottoman or persian candlestick okay so other people had like plants in them okay so
that's a cute idea putting like a potted plant in it so anyway I just feel like this was such a cool
find and I think it'll be really cool to try to put a tree in if I can figure out like the scale
and then you can put ornaments down here if you want to or I don't know leave it blank it's however
you want to do it but anyway so let me know if you've ever seen one of these before because I
have not and I feel very lucky that I spotted it and snagged it up for 14 bucks so I think that
concludes our haul for today I hope you guys enjoyed I'm really looking forward to like
