Hey guys it's Mel here with Mel's Outdoors and I'm gonna do a beginner's guide to the compound bow.
I know the compound bow can seem very complicated. I know it did to me when I first started shooting
so I wish I had a video like this and so that's why I'm doing a video like this for you if you're
a beginner. Alright so this is my compound bow. I got it from Bass Pro as a ready to hunt package.
You can see I've got some custom items on it. This is the top cam right here. These are limbs.
This is the sight. This is a three pin sight. It's a hunter setup. This is an arrow rest.
This is a whisker biscuit type of rest. Came with the bow. This is a string stop.
As you can see it stops the string. This is the bottom cam. This is the cam protector by
Hedog Archery. This was an add-on that I added to my bow. I feel like it's an extremely critical
add-on to have. I think everyone should have it on their bow. It protects your delicate cam and
string so that whenever you set your bow down it protects it. Then you have your stabilizers.
I use Wickstick stabilizers. They're really cool because they come in like all these different
color options. This was their muddy girl option and then I got the purple sticker
and then I put like some purple weights on the end. That was my choice. I think it looks awesome.
What stabilizers do is they keep your bow steady so whenever you pull back
you know your arm has a tendency to go all over the place. What it does is it
adds weight to the front and back so that it stabilizes your arm. That's the most basic way
to describe what stabilizers do. We have our quiver. This is the quiver right here.
As you can see it says PSE. This came with my bow and it attaches to my bow and what a quiver does
is it holds your arrows. This one's a hunter setup so it's actually attached to the bow.
Some bows you're going to see they're not going to have a quiver. That's probably because they're
more of a target setup and they have like a hip quiver or somewhere else they keep their arrows
not on their bow. The arrow goes in between here and it's called a knock again so you can see
your arrow fits in right there and it sits into the whisker biscuit rest like that.
If I were to pull back I line up the peep sight with the sight so these two things line up
together. It's like this okay so here's my peep sight and here's my sight and when I look through
it I make sure that it's even and that's how I know that I'm going to be accurate.
So the peep sight is critical. This is my release so it attaches to my wrist like that
and what you want to do is make sure it's locked and you know it's locked with your fingers behind
it. Always keep your finger behind it when you pull back don't go like that because then it'll
release that's dangerous. So my fingers behind it I'm going to pull back and then I put the string
on my nose I look through the sight and the peep they're completely lined up and then I aim.
So there you have it guys this is the beginner's guide to a compound bow. Just doing a beginner's
video on the bow.
