Hi, where do you live?
Hi, I live in Milan.
Why?
It's comfortable, and there are plenty of things to do.
Today we ask people why they live in Milan.
Let's go!
And where do you live?
I live here behind, in the area of Piazza Ega and Aulenti.
I am from the province of Milan.
So both of you live in Milan.
Yes, exactly.
I'm in Riccione.
Milan.
Verona.
Ah, so all different spots.
Are you friends?
Yes.
And did they come to see you?
Yes, I am very lucky.
Do you live in Milan?
Yes.
How long?
For two years.
Studio qua.
Okay, so you live here because you're studying.
Exactly.
What do you study?
Studio Economia in Milan.
We live in Caravaggio.
Caravaggio
Me too.
Lurano, always in the same area as Berlio.
And do you like it?
Yes, we like it.
We really like our area.
Calm down, it has nothing to do with this.
It's much calmer.
Where do you live?
In Milan.
How long have you lived in Milan?
I am 32 years old, for 30.
Since always.
No.
We live in Sardinia.
So you're here on vacation?
Yes, we had business appointments, so that's why we're here.
No.
We're here on a weekend trip, and we're taking advantage of it to explore, to really take a good look at all the places.
Yes.
I have been adopted by this city for 30 years; I moved here for study reasons in the 1990s, when none of this existed.
Why do you live in Milan?
I live in Milan because it is a wonderful city and offers plenty of opportunities for young people.
You can truly find yourself, both culturally and socially.
So you can truly decide which environment to choose.
It is an innovative, technological, and easy-to-navigate city.
We make public transportation, green spaces, bicycles, and scooters a lot easier.
So I recommend it.
For work, because I'm originally from Monza, so from Brianza, and therefore moving to Milan was the most obvious choice for me.
Family. I don't have financial independence yet, so later on then.
Why I fell in love with the city.
I have lived for many years in other Italian cities, Genoa, Bologna, and Bergamo.
But when I finally arrived in Milan, the feeling was completely different.
Even now I bought a house and moved in, but I still moved even further into the city center compared to where I lived before.
Why do you live in Milan?
I moved to Milan for studies, and then stayed on for work.
I started a family, so I stayed in Milan.
But I would never say it in my life.
What are the differences between Milan and where you live in Sardinia?
Traffic and the environment are the main differences.
Yes, certainly the population density, then the climate, the frenzy.
So you're from Naples?
Naples, yes.
What are the differences between Naples and Milan?
Who is missing the sea.
Those accustomed to living near the sea notice these differences.
As we say, people are a bit different.
The girls from Naples are a bit more chaotic, a bit more forward—almost intrusive, if you will.
Here, everyone is looking out for themselves, much calmer.
Perhaps you live there.

Is Milan very different for you compared to where you live?
Yes, very much.
What are the differences?
It is more active, it is always active throughout the year.
Riccione is active only in summer, mainly.
There are many things to do, so many people.
I've just arrived, so I don't know.
But at first glance, yes, it is much larger, much more vivid, as you said.
It's a very different measure.
What are the pros and cons of living in Milan?
Well, the second one, in my opinion, is living in Milan.
You have more opportunities, say, both professionally and socially.
And you have to hit us hard, let's say.
There's much more... how should I put it, the countries are so far apart, I'd say, from each other.
Finding a job is also very difficult.
If you don't have a driver's license, if you don't have a car, and if you can't get around, it's very complicated.
Milan is already a bit simpler, shall we say.
It's a big city, and it's very fast to get around.
From the other side it's... let's say it's different from living perhaps in the inland.
While over here it's a bit emptier, isn't it?
They're little poems, somewhat distant from one another.
But come on, let's say once you have the job, once you've found your place
You can live it peacefully, got it?
There is more serenity, less noise, less smog.
But surely what they told them is a big city, very lively, with plenty to do,
especially for everyone's tastes, in my opinion.
Why there is such great variety of neighborhoods, and with it, precisely,
Various activities to do, various things to see.
In my opinion, from a professional standpoint, it might also offer slightly more opportunities.
Perhaps other smaller cities, certainly.
So this is also a pro.
Well, the point lately is that, up until the lockdown period,
Milan was truly a city worth living in.
It was a very dynamic city, full of energy, having changed so much in the past ten years.
Expo also did its part.
There was also a very strong process of urbanization.
Anyway, regarding Milan, I don't know now if I can do self-celebration, self-production.
I have also written a book about Milan.
Milan has given to me, has hosted me, has welcomed me; it is a very welcoming city.
It welcomed me thirty years ago when I moved here for study reasons.
It is absolutely worthy of being the subject of attention in the book.
Instead, the counter?
Well, it's expensive.
Perhaps it's a somewhat snobbish city, compared to others in Italy.
I see it like this.
It could be, so to speak, not quite human-sized.
Therefore, precisely, due to its size, due to its dynamism,
It can also slightly overwhelm, slightly press in.
So these are the drawbacks, in my opinion.
What do you dislike about Milan?
Ah, perhaps I haven't been there long enough to say something you wouldn't like.
Yes, for the moment I wouldn't say anything.
I don't expose myself negatively, only positively.
Besides, we're talking to the peculiar ones, I can't say negative things.
I mean, I have to speak well, otherwise they won't come.
What's good and what's bad is the same thing—that's exactly what chaos is.
Because on one hand it can be an advantage, because you have everything.
Whatever you feel like doing, you do it.
And at the same time it's a drawback, because the chaos sometimes
It's not always beautiful.
And thus it can be both an advantage and a disadvantage.
In our areas, on the other hand, as he said, it's much calmer.
Much calmer, so this thing here doesn't exist.
And what is the thing you like the most?
The ease of managing life.
So you always have everything within reach, 24 hours a day.
It's something new for us Italians,
So we can go shopping all night.
We can live even outside of work.
That is an important thing, because we work so hard.
And therefore, what comes after work must be easy and enjoyable.
Everything works perfectly.
You move calmly and quickly.
One thing you dislike about Milan?
This ferment of feeling obliged to force oneself to do things.
If today afternoon the aperitif, later the gym,
Tomorrow I have the appointment with the hairdresser.
It's getting a bit complicated, shall we say, meeting up.
But from my point of view, it's just trivial stuff.
When you want to, you can do anything.
One thing you don't like, or rather, perhaps something you hate about Milan?
One thing I hate about Milan?
I spent a fortune going out to dinner.
One thing I love about Milan?
The view and life in general in Milan.
One thing you hate about Milan?
All sorts of things.
Instead, something you love?
I like to walk through the areas
which have become, shall we say, the focus of attention in recent times.
For example, I really like the Nolo area,
the Viale Padova neighborhood and a whole series of establishments
and activities that are emerging in that area.
Of the areas you've seen, is there one that you particularly like?
It has been exactly two hours since I started watching this city.
I've seen the Duomo and the Gallery, and I've come down here.
Among the three, I say the Duomo.
And why did you choose Milan?
Actually, we came to visit my aunt.
And we're taking the opportunity to see the city.
We have spoken with people who live in Milan for work or study reasons.
the people who were born there.
We also spoke with some tourists.
It seems that Milan generally appeals to people.
I like the fact that it's a fairly well-organized city.
I like the fact that there are so many things to do,
But like all big cities, there are also some negative aspects.
for example, the frantic pace of life.
