Hello, what's up everyone? Welcome to the sixth video in the Bridgerton Chronicles series.
It's been a while since I owed you a video, so today I bring you the story of love.
between Eloise, the fifth daughter of the Bridgertons, and Sir Philip Crane.
So, without prolonging this introduction any further, let's begin.
The story between Sir Philip and Eloise does not begin with a love story.
On the contrary, it begins with a tragic story of sorrow and death.
The death of Marina Thompson.
Unlike the previous protagonists, Sir Philip was not a single man in search of a wife,
not in search of love, but on the contrary, he was a married man with two children.
Philip had studied botany and had graduated as the top student in his class.
and had planned to dedicate herself to teaching, but the sudden death of her older brother
He forced him to radically change his plans.
He became the sole heir to his family's lands, and therefore, to those obligations.
to take charge of the administration of one's assets, get married, and procreate heirs.
His wife, Marina Thompson, was a rather sad and melancholic person.
Philip had never really been able to establish a relationship with her, not even a connection.
since his depression had not allowed it.
In the books, Philip is described as a 30-year-old man with dark hair and dark eyes.
tall, stocky, hairy, and muscular.
In turn, Eloise is described as a 28-year-old woman with brown hair and gray eyes.
The story begins on a sunny afternoon in February.
Philip was in his greenhouse when he saw Marina walking through the forest.
The mere fact that she was out of the house was strange, so he followed her toward the lake.
There, she saw her submerge of her own will.
He managed to rescue her alive, but she died a few days later.
Philip didn't love her, he had never loved her, but she was the mother of his children, and at no point had he wished for her death.
Philip also did not exactly consider himself a good father.
It was difficult for her to communicate with the young ones, an 8-year-old pair of twins.
I didn't know how to speak to them or what to say to them, and even telling them about their mother's death was not easy.
So once Marina had passed away, he decided he had to find them a mother.
It didn't matter who she was, or whether she was pretty, well-mannered, or intelligent—just smiling and being happy would have been enough.
Ah, and how I would have wanted to, or at least pretended enough for them to believe it.
One afternoon, after Marina's death, Philip received a letter from Eloise Bridgerton.
A distant relative of Marina, who offered her condolences over her loss.
Curious about that unexpected manifestation, Philip decided to reply to the message.
Eloise used to have the hobby of sending letters to people she hadn't seen in a long time.
whether sending messages of congratulations or condolences,
I was greatly excited by the prospect of communicating with other people.
Sir Philip's reply pleasantly surprised her, for his letters bore the words of a cultured and well-educated person.
Moreover, he added a flower he had cut himself, which touched Eloise deeply.
They exchanged letters for about a year until Philip decided to extend her an invitation.
so that she would go visit him at his house, which was located in the countryside.
But not only that— in the same letter, he expressed his intentions to make her his wife.
Logically, this took Eloise by surprise.
Although she had been suspecting that Philip was trying to court her through letters.
At her age, she was already considered a spinster by society.
She had rejected six marriage proposals,
no because none of those suitors pleased him
only because he was too demanding with them and was looking for someone perfect.
Moreover, she wasn't worried about remaining single,
He was happy with his brothers, brothers-in-law, and nephews.
And as a Bridgerton, she remained respected, even though she was not married.
However, her best friend Penélope, with whom she thought she would share her single status,
She had married nothing less than her older brother Colin.
Although it was a selfish thought,
Eloise would never have thought that Penélope could marry before her,
what could even get married.
The poor thing hadn't received a single marriage proposal.
For that reason, Eloise had never considered how she would feel if she were the only single one of the two.
Yet, she loved the fact that her brother had married her best friend.
They were perfect for each other.
but now, being a single woman among a family full of loving couples,
I felt compelled to take Sir Philip at his word.
Therefore, he decided to accept Philip's invitation with the plan of getting to know him over the course of a few days.
to find out whether they were compatible or not, and thus decide whether she would marry him.
Eloise knew her brothers wouldn't allow her to go to Philip's house without even meeting the family.
so he decided to flee secretly.
So during a dance at her sister Daphne's house,
Eloise slipped through the crowd and left, without telling anyone, not even Sir Philip.
On his part, Philip had assumed that Eloise did not want to marry him.
given that the proposal letter had been sent a month ago and no response had been received.
Eloise seemed the perfect solution to his problems.
a substitute mother for her children, whom even the babysitters couldn't stand.
Philip was surprised to see her at the door of his house without warning.
It seemed beautiful to him at once, with its enormous gray eyes in which he could drown, he thought.
Nevertheless, Philip was a bit rough around the edges.
So the first meeting between them was not as romantic as Eloise had imagined it would be.
But what affected her the most was the fact that Philip had children.
since he had never mentioned it in the letters.
He denied not having told him, although clearly he had intentionally omitted it.
Having children was no problem for Eloise.
because he loved children, but clearly had no idea what awaited him.
Philip, for his part, was annoyed by the fact that she had arrived without warning,
since he had not given her the chance to prepare herself to receive it,
Write him a poem or prepare some flowers for him.
Moreover, Eloise's appearance surprised him,
since he had expected a less attractive woman, and therefore one more desperate to get married,
and not a young, beautiful, and self-assured girl.
She was certain she would never want to marry him.
to take responsibility for her two children, who drove away all the babysitters
and stay to live in the middle of the countryside, far from London society and all those social events.
Eloise, for her part, had found him a rather ill-mannered man.
And besides, he was beginning to consider himself a bad father, since he didn't know how to handle his two children.
However, his plan to stay in that house for 15 days
To find out how compatible they were, it remained standing.
Oliver and Amanda, the two children of Philip, were extremely mischievous and clever.
And why would they so easily accept a woman entering their lives?
So on the second day they decided to pay her a visit and warn her that they didn't want her in the house.
Eloise, who had considerable experience being the fifth of eight siblings and the aunt of nine nephews and nieces,
He found the perfect words to make them understand that he wouldn't leave.
and moreover, she wasn't afraid of them, although that wasn't entirely true.
After that unexpected meeting, Philip and Eloise met up and had breakfast together.
Philip had planned to organize a pleasant breakfast,
As an apology for his behavior the previous day,
But when he found Eloise already eating, he had no choice but to join her.
During breakfast, she told him about her encounter with the children.
And he honestly confessed to her that she was not what he had imagined.
that in reality she found him beautiful, and that she couldn't understand how it was that he hadn't married yet.
Although it wasn't the first time Eloise had heard a compliment, this one still made her blush.
Philip was not like other men; he was rougher, less refined.
Not like the common men of London, he was more... defiant.
Eloise couldn't understand how a man like him could have trouble finding a wife.
Philip asked the question, how is it that now, all of a sudden,
And after rejecting several proposals, he had decided to get married.
She replied that she had simply realized that, after all, she did want to find a husband.
Then he returned the question to her.
Philip replied that no woman who knew her children was even willing to set foot in his house.
And that was why she had invited her to come, because the children needed a mother.
Eloise then asked her what role she wanted her to play—the role of mother or wife.
Both, he replied, as though it were obvious, and she asked again,
Which one is more important to you?
To which he replied that he did not know how to separate them.
Eloise's beauty was unsettling Philip, but in a good way.
I hadn't had intimacy with a woman in a long time.
since after Marina had her children, they never shared a bed again
more than on one occasion when she did not participate.
He didn't even move; he just lay there with eyes fixed on nothing.
Philip had felt dirty and guilty,
Therefore, ever since that encounter, he never again got into Marina's bed.
Eloise's presence, beautiful and slender, was awakening in him once again the desire.
Curious after their last conversation, he invited her that same night to have dinner together in the dining room,
but when he was at the door of his room,
She found that Oliver and Amanda had played a prank on her by filling her with flour.
Eloise could not possibly let them get away with it.
So he decided to play a prank on them by putting a fish in Amanda's bed.
During dinner, she asked Philip if the children were aware of his marriage proposal.
to which he replied no, something she seemed not to agree with
but preferred not to say.
However, by his gestures, he noticed it.
so he asked her please not to comment on the upbringing of his children
until she decided whether or not she would marry him.
Eloise replied that they needed more attention and love.
something they did not receive from him, despite explicitly asking for it.
That bothered Philip, who replied that she didn't know him.
Eloise was annoyed by the comment, but decided to let it go.
Philip, for his part, was becoming increasingly aware
Eloise was the exact opposite of Marina and precisely what he needed.
intelligent, with original ideas, bossy
and she was desperately wishing with all her might that he would accept marrying her
and were made responsible for the house and its children.
Ella, for her part, was increasingly discovering how attractive Philip seemed to her.
After dinner, Philip took Eloise to see the family portraits.
where she had the opportunity to see the faces of her grandfather, her father, and George
my late brother, who had died in the Battle of Waterloo.
Philip explained to him that when that happened, he was only 21 years old.
and that Marina was actually George's fiancée, not hers.
On the other hand, he did not want to talk about his father.
And he appeared tense when Eloise asked him about it.
He also saw a photo of Marina.
Eloise remembered her childhood, when they were both little girls.
Marina had dark hair and blue eyes.
And since they were the same age, they were always seated together at family gatherings.
although they were very different.
While Eloise enjoyed playing and running after her older brothers,
Marina preferred staying and reading the same page of a book over and over again.
Philip was quite uncomfortable seeing Marina's portrait.
what made Eloise wonder whether he had ever loved her,
if he had already been in love with her when she was still his brother's fiancée,
She missed her.
Eloise decided to tell him that she had lost her father when she was still a little girl.
How difficult it was for his brothers, and above all for his mother Violet,
who was still pregnant with Hyacinth.
After that, they went to the greenhouse where Philip showed her his plants.
and some of the experiments on which he was working,
And for the first time, he found that someone else besides himself genuinely cared about what he was doing.
That night, under the shadows and surrounded by plants and flowers,
Philip couldn't help it and kissed her.
And she kissed him back.
The next morning, the twins continued with their revenge.
They put a rope in the middle of the road,
causing Eloise to stumble and strike herself forcefully.
This prank enraged Philip and made her realize that something was wrong.
because he seemed to be holding back so much in that situation.
This led her to have a discussion with Sir Philip.
that left her alone, making the excuse that it was not advisable for her to be with him due to his anger.
By this point, Philip was already convinced that he wanted to ask Eloise to marry him.
He would kneel before her and beg her to marry him and become the mother of his children.
He was aware that he was doing everything wrong and didn't deserve Eloise's acceptance.
But the truth is, I never truly wanted that life for him.
Everything had always belonged to his older brother George.
He was the one with charm, the beloved son.
He always knew what to say and what to do in every situation.
Everyone loved and admired him.
Philip, on the other hand, was quieter and more reflective.
He had always pictured himself as the gruff and eccentric uncle who lived in Cambridge.
locked in a greenhouse conducting experiments that nobody would ever care about.
But George's death had changed everything
and had been forced to assume responsibilities that had never been his to begin with.
The only thing saving him from that situation was having his children.
those whom he loved unconditionally.
Yet he still couldn't help feeling like a failure.
He did not regret being a father, but he thought he had not been born for it.
He was disappointing them.
I didn't know how to deal with them, and so, in many cases, I preferred to flee.
But the night before, after the attack on Eloise,
She was surprised at how well she handled the situation in front of her children.
so now he felt that in some way she was bringing peace to his life.
And that was what finally convinced him that he needed Eloise to marry him.
She, for her part, was beginning to feel strongly attracted to him.
despite his occasional strange distant behavior.
His smile and his very informal way of behaving drew her toward him, and she couldn't help it.
And just that had stopped her from returning to London yet.
The following morning, Eloise decided she would spend time with Oliver and Amanda.
So he took them swimming in the lake.
But the walk was interrupted by Phillip,
Who, furious, pulled the children out of the water, claiming he had forbidden them to come.
Eloise said there was no reason not to let them come if the children knew how to swim.
That, added to the memory of Marina's death due to that incident at the lake,
Phillip was plunged into a lake of memories that moved Eloise.
Who, confused, caressed her face.
Phillip placed his hand over hers and brought it to his mouth, kissing it.
Then he placed it on his chest, wrapped his arms around her waist, pulled her toward him, and kissed her.
Desire overwhelmed them, but Eloise decided she couldn't take the next step yet.
No, not like that.
That same night they had dinner together, and Phillip shared his concern with Eloise.
because of feeling that he did not know his children well enough,
To which she replied that there was still time.
But when it seemed everything was going splendidly, something happened.
Anthony, Benedict, Colin, and Gregory burst into the house hurling all manner of insults,
And in the blink of an eye, Phillip was pressed against the wall.
With Anthony's hands around his neck and Benedict's hands gripping his arms.
He wondered at that moment why Eloise had forgotten
the not-so-insignificant detail that he had four brothers,
But he couldn't blame her when he remembered that he had actually mentioned it in his letters.
Logically, Eloise had to intervene in that situation in order to get him released.
Pulling Benedict by the hair and threatening Anthony,
although with the black eye and the imagination of those four, it wasn't easy at all.
After this, Eloise had a conversation with the eldest of the Bridgerton brothers.
Who informed him that the only solution to this entire situation was that he marry Sir Phillip?
since being alone with him for such a long time without a chaperone would bring disgrace upon her.
Eloise wanted to get married, but at the same time she thought it was too early for that.
They had only known each other in person for two days; she needed more time to fall in love.
Anthony told him that the only way he wouldn't force her to marry Phillip
It would be if this were a man who abused her and made her suffer.
Eloise immediately denied it, and with nothing more to do,
She accepted her brother's conditions and would marry Sir Phillip.
He also confessed to him what had motivated him to come and meet Sir Phillip.
It was the fact that Penelope and Colin had married.
He had felt happy about that news and loved the idea of Penelope becoming his new sister.
But she couldn't help feeling that now she would be the only spinster.
That one speaking to Anthony, who decided to give him a week.
so that he could also meet Sir Phillip and decide whether he was a good man for her or not.
That same night, Eloise moved her suitcases to Benedict and Sophie's house.
which was near Phillip's.
The latter went to visit her the following day.
They talked about the fact that they would now have to get married.
Phillip spoke about it as if it were a business.
What annoyed Eloise, who undoubtedly expected a marriage proposal a bit less... blunt.
Although clearly, Phillip was not known for being the most expressive or romantic man.
After that, his older brothers appeared,
Yes, Eloise announced that Phillip had proposed to her.
It was at that moment that he understood what she desired.
He took her hand, and with Anthony's permission and the excuse of speaking in private,
He took her to Sophie's office,
where he told her he would clarify her doubts and show her that once married, they would adapt very well to each other.
And then he kissed her.
He confessed to her that she seemed beautiful to him.
and that the first thing he had thought when he saw her was that he could drown in her blue eyes,
and in all of it.
He caressed and touched her until she moaned with pleasure.
The following day, it was the Bridgertons who visited Phillip at Rodney Hall.
where they met Oliver and Amanda.
At that dinner, Eloise asked Phillip if he had ever been in love with Marina.
and if he had felt passion for her,
to which he replied no.
Then, it was he who asked her why she had decided to flee London.
And she told him her reasons, insecurities, and fears.
Four days later, they got married.
I went to a private ceremony at Rodney Hall, Phillip's house.
next to the greenhouse.
The Bridgertons welcomed Amanda and Oliver as two more members of the family.
Even Violet had insisted that they call her grandmother.
That day, they spent their first night together,
He confided in Philip about his childhood.
and the mistreatment he received from his father,
who punished him with blows and whippings, leaving scars on his back.
Married life didn't start off on the best of terms.
Phillip had not been with a woman in eight years.
so that once Eloise adopted her surname,
He simply kept her in his bed every single night.
and disappear into his greenhouse every day,
leaving her in charge of the house and the children.
Clearly, a marriage was not just about sex,
but Phillip seemed not to understand it,
and when Eloise, after discovering that the nanny was hitting the children on the knuckles,
He tried to explain it to him, and they ended up in an argument.
They parted ways for the remainder of the day.
While the discomfort was passing.
Phillip decided to go see his children,
And thanks to that, he discovered the nanny hitting them with a book on their backs.
She kicked him out of the house immediately.
And he went in search of Eloise to tell her she was right,
But he found that she had already left.
Eloise had decided that she wanted to talk to another woman,
someone with experience in marriage
and since Daphne and Francesca were quite far away,
He decided to go see Sophie.
but when he arrived at his brother's house,
He came across an unpleasant surprise.
Charles, the young son of Benedict and Sophie
He was seriously ill with a fever that would not go away.
His health condition was so critical
that the doctors found no solution other than prayers.
Phillip, who had thought that Eloise had run away again,
He arrived at his brother-in-law's house to discover that situation.
and since there were no other alternatives,
He proposed to Benedict that he give him a tea made from willow bark.
to lower the child's fever,
something he had learned during his years of study.
The next day, the child awoke miraculously better.
Phillip and Eloise returned home.
During the journey, Phillip confessed to Eloise that he had thought he had abandoned them.
To which she replied that she could never leave Oliver and Amanda.
That ignited a faint spark of jealousy in Phillip.
No, because I wouldn't want Eloise to love her children.
only because he wanted to know that she would return for him as well,
because she had just discovered it, because she loved him
that he also loved.
Beyond sex and passion,
beyond the wonderful mother she was to her children
And how good she was at managing her household,
I loved her as a woman, and barely understood it.
Phillip disappeared throughout the entire next day,
and when Eloise finally found him,
He was sitting facing Marina's portrait, staring at her intently.
At that moment, he told her everything he had experienced with her.
during their marriage,
Only what had been felt
how she had decided to take her own life on the only sunny day of that winter
and the guilty feeling he experienced when thinking that he had not done enough to make her happy
and didn't want to repeat the same mistake with her.
But all his fears were silenced
Days later, they shared a outing together,
accompanied by Oliver and Amanda.
In the end of the day, the children told Phillip
that that had been the best day of his life,
what undoubtedly made him grateful for having brought Eloise into their lives,
so he carried out a search using letters
that they took her to her room full of flowers
and a petal-shaped sign with the words "te amo."
Only at that moment did he tell them what the children had said.
but he also insisted that with her he couldn't choose just a single day,
because all of them, each and every one, were perfect when together.
Eloise and Phillip had three more children,
Penélope, who was born one year after the marriage,
Georgina, who was born the year after Penélope
and Frederick, who was born three years later.
But the story of Phillip and Eloise does not end here,
Well, yes, okay.
because, as in all the stories of the Bridgerton brothers,
There is a second epilogue,
the same one that appears in the ninth Bridgerton book, Happily Ever After.
The Epilogue of Asir Phillip with Love
It is not starred by Phillip nor by Eloise,
but one of her daughters, Amanda.
In this, they recount in the first person
How the eldest of the Crane sisters marries a young man three years older than she is
Who does one fall in love with at first sight?
Although she says no, since she doesn't consider herself a romantic.
Moreover, we get a brief glimpse into the relationship between Eloise and Phillip.
who seem as in love as the final chapter of their book,
about how Phillip's relationship with his children improved,
for how little Marina meant to them as a mother
due to his absence, even though he was still alive
and how Eloise literally saved them all.
Well then, kids, this would be the end of the story
from the fifth Bridgerton sister, Eloise
and how he fell in love with Asir Phillip.
Now we'll have to wait for Netflix to adapt the book into a series.
to see how many changes they can make to it.
According to my calculations, and if the fourth season is the one with Benedict,
The fifth would be Eloise's.
What did you think of this story?
Which brother would you like the next video to be about?
