Energy prices continue to rise, and PECO is proposing a rate increase next year. If you're looking to save on electricity or natural gas costs, consider switching to a third-party energy supplier.
Energy bills include two main components: supply and distribution, also known as delivery.
While utilities like PECO handle distribution, customers are allowed to choose their own third-party supplier for the supply portion - a move that can result in savings of up to 30 percent.

As energy prices are rising, consumers are seeing an impact on their bills.
It comes as PICO recently proposed a rate hike that will go into effect next year.
But there is a way for consumers to pay less, and that's why we turn to our Nidia Han,
who's here with the details, where we can go saving with 16UC.
Yes, we can all take control of our energy bills.
Our electricity and natural gas bills have two parts,
the supply side and the distribution or delivery side.
To save money, choose your own third-party supplier.
You can save up to 30%.
Every state has an official website where you can instantly compare plans and shop.
As energy prices continue to soar, every penny counts.
Even a savings of 3-5% can be significant.
So 3-5% can make a real difference.
And for a lot of people, that's enough to make the switch.
It's real easy.
So you go on PAPowerswitch.com if you're in Pennsylvania,
and there are sites for New Jersey and Delaware as well.
On PAPowerswitch.com, put in your zip code, then you'll get this page,
where you can see what you're currently paying, the price to compare.
For Pico Energy, that's 11 cents per kilowatt hour.
Then you can choose the term length, how long you want your plan to last.
Some savvy consumers shop and switch regularly year-round.
They can switch their plan every 3 months or 6 months or whatever it might be,
because they want to make sure they're getting the most savings
out of their electricity and natural gas.
For price per kilowatt hour range, put in a max that's less than what you're paying
with your default supplier, which again, in this case, is 11 cents.
For rate options, I suggest fixed, so the price doesn't change.
Under Terms and Conditions, I click No Cancellation Fee, Enrollment Fee, or Monthly Fee.
And for pricing terms, I want the long-term plan price,
not the introductory price, and not the new customer price.
As you click, you'll get your options on the right side, the supplier offers.
Once you make the switch online, how soon does the switch happen?
It's usually within the next billing cycle.
And look at the possible savings per hour example.
Enrolling in a fixed 3-month plan, the estimated monthly bill goes from $77.17,
if Pico is your supplier, to $55.23 if you switch to a third-party supplier.
That's a monthly savings of nearly $22, and there are no fees.
We've put links to the PowerSwitch websites for PA, New Jersey, and Delaware on 6abc.com.
Back to you guys. Just make sure you read the fine print.
Well, and Christine and I would like for you to sit down with us and map it out.
I don't care.
We have Excel spreadsheets.
I'll sit down individually with you.
Why, thank you.
Thank you.
