My first test reel using Bytedance’s new AI video model, Dreamina Seedance 2.0. The film was made possible thanks to the Dreamina CPP (Creative Partners Program), which gave me early access to the model. I was particularly keen to test out more low-key, realistic, character-centered cinematic scenes.
Ready when you are.
Sure you want to do this?
I've done this before.
Well, not exactly this, but you know.
What are you dreaming about in life?
Uh, I don't know.
I just want, I just, I want to be happy and have a nice life and have a nice house and a dog.
And I want to be able to look in the mirror and not hate what I see.
I know I'm not the easiest person to be around.
I'm a lot, I'm too much, too sensitive, I'm too emotional, I'm too this, I'm too that.
So I became like everyone else.
Do you know what the hardest part is?
It's not the lying, I'm quite good at that now.
It's not the waking up or the pretending or the way my voice seems to pitch up a little higher when I say,
Yes, I'd love to.
The hardest part is coming home to this empty apartment, walking into the bathroom and looking into that mirror
and not knowing whose eyes are looking back at me.
When did you first learn to say yes the right way?
I mean, it's not like I was ever taught how to say yes the right way.
I just, I guess I learned it from watching other people, from, from seeing what worked for them and what didn't.
It's not like there was a lightbulb moment or something, it's just that you start to feel it, you know?
Like a shift.
And then you look back and you realize you've probably been saying it wrong your whole life.
But that's the thing, right?
You don't know you're saying it wrong until you learn how to say it right.
It's like, I don't know, it's like when you're a kid and you're told to say yes to everything, you know?
And then you realize that some things are worth saying yes to, even if they're scary.
I think it was when I realized that the word no, it was just a habit.
And breaking it, it felt like breaking a part of myself, but also like I was finally breathing.
I don't know, I just, I'm waiting for something.
I'm afraid it's gone.
Did you ever question anything?
I question everything.
I question the things that I'm supposed to remember and the things that I'm not supposed to forget.
I question the things that I think I remember, but I'm not really sure if I do.
You know, I never really thought about it before, I just assumed how it was.
But now that you mentioned it, I guess I never really had a choice, I just did what I was told.
I never questioned it, but you're right, I should have, I should have questioned everything.
I know what they say, that I broke the rules, but someone had to.
I just, I wanted the world to see them for what they really are.
They asked me how it felt to say no, to stop them.
I don't remember the faces, I only remember the feeling of the light.
I felt powerful, powerful.
I guess I just, I keep going.
I just, I don't know what else to do.
I just, I keep going.
I try to remember that it's not about being strong.
It's about being broken and then putting the pieces back together.
Even if they don't fit the same way.
