Royal Doulton Norfolk D6294 Blue & White 8.5-Inch Round Dessert Plate

Well that's a stack and a half of dessert plates isn't it? Very nicely bright, shining glaze reflecting on this stack of one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven Royal Dalton Norfolk dessert plates. Let's just pop one of these in the back display and pan up so we can show you it in a little bit more detail. Dessert plates, not the very old original Norfolk production. These are all D6294 factory marks which date them to after 1942 through to around 1960 and they're in very nice bright condition as you can see on the glaze reflection there. Occasional knife mark but for Royal Dalton Norfolk these are in really fine condition. Good glaze, nice and bright, no crazing or cracking. There's the D6294 Norfolk marks from Royal Dalton Crown and Lion, Dalton Group and the transfer of block prints are all identical on these dessert plates with the central Norfolk scene with the twin windmills and flying birds and then the characteristic as you get bigger and bigger on the flat where you get more and more detail in the block design around the rims and this lovely drawn blue edging that comes down almost as if it's been combed through to give that lovely characteristic edge design on Norfolk. Irregular scalloped rim. These are round versions with scalloping as opposed to the earlier RD numbered versions of Norfolk which are octagonal shaped in their design. So two distinct versions of the same pattern from different eras of production. Highlighting for you the differences in options for you. They mix and match really really well but obviously when it comes to flatware it's nice to have round or octagonal although if you are layering them on a dinner table they work really really well. The early versions with the late versions. 11 of these as we showed you are going on sale on the Vintage and Antiques website. We've got some dinner plates, side plates, some English small dessert bowls as well and a variety of other pieces coming out of this auction lot which we're finally getting around to listing after a long period in storage. And it's stored very very well and it's very nice and clean and gives you a fantastic opportunity to put a big collection for a dresser display or dinner service together with this very characteristic and well-loved Royal Dalton pattern.
