The new chapter officially begins! This is my first motovlog from Costa Rica. Despite rolling into the country with a broken suspension, I was determined to make the most of this incredible adventure. Hope you enjoy the journey!
Welcome to Costa Rica. This is where I spend first night straight after the border. I came to this
hotel because I was absolutely exhausted because you know what happened yesterday before the water
crossing, right? I blew my shock. Yeah, so you see we've got oil everywhere, everywhere.
And it's very, yeah, yeah chilly. You've got a lot of oil all over. I'm so sorry this happened to you.
So now we're bumping like a yo-yo. It's not fun but that's okay. We know what to do chilly. We've
done this before. We did in 2017 in Tajikistan. So my plan for now is to get to San Jose
on pavement, the easiest route I can take. We will see some stuff on the way but
sticking to the pavement, generally speaking. And in four days my mom will bring me my old
B&W shock from Poland. So I'm gonna switch it to that one. She's gonna take this one to Europe.
I will have it rebuilt and then in a few months I'll switch it back. That's my plan.
The only thing I'm really sad about is I won't be able to see this beautiful coast
of the Pacific Ocean. You know I was hoping I'm gonna take this route and we're gonna do a lot
of off-road and we're gonna see the beautiful beaches but it's not gonna happen now. Maybe
later or maybe I will see it with my mom and my sister. We're gonna drive a car.
Let's organize ourselves first. I'm heading to the bank now. This is the first town near the border.
Bank should be somewhere here but I really don't see it. It's Sunday so it will be closed
but they should have an ATM. Yes they do. Yeah, yeah you better go because I can't guarantee my turn.
Not too bad yet, not too bad. But you see like how I'm like boom boom boom
bounce bounce bounce and then we so it's like like we're on the ocean on the boat.
Oh my god. Thank you.
I wanted to show you the American money. It's plastic, see? You can wash it
but it says 10 million. It's actually not the million it's it's actually
10 000. See? Because million in Spanish is a thousand so this is like ten thousand
and this is twenty dollars.
Oh my god.
Yep, we got to the lake. That is beautiful. I've got a feeling in my brain. Okay let's keep going.
We'll be sort of, yeah not sort of, we'll be riding around the lake now.
The temperature is a bit lower. 27. I'm happy with that.
So apparently close to here there is a campground.
So let's check this one out first. Bienvenidos Fontana de Azucar.
Want to camp? Yes please. Continue for 800 meters. Oh chilly, bumpy. That's okay.
We're doing just fine.
Oh this is a big hill. Maybe we're gonna have a nice view if we're going so much up.
Further? Oh my god, how much further? And at the end, right.
All right, we made it. You have arrived. Yeah, let's just stop here.
Right, we're in. Chilly, what a beautiful view will be ahead of us. You're gonna love it honey.
Hey look, look at this. Isn't that insane? Look at that.
I think it's a premium spot. Look at this volcano. So apparently this volcano is not active
and tomorrow morning the sun will be rising from there. So we're gonna have, well we should have
an epic drone shots tomorrow. Tomorrow. We're cooking healthy today. Risoni. This is, you know,
rice with chickpeas. Got it in Nicaragua. And veggies. Standard. Risoni.
Agua. Fire. Pasta on fire. Stay. Stay. Oh no. So I'm not sure what happened to my pasta rice
made out of chickpeas. But it just like, it got like this. So I'm not sure how to
cook it now. We're just gonna wing it. These are the veggies I'm gonna add. We all know what it is.
But what is this? I have no idea. Looks like a coconut. But I'm sure it's not. I mean, I don't
know. I'm not that I'm sure. I just don't know what it is. But regardless, we're gonna chop it
and we're gonna add it. Let's do it. So I peeled this coconut looking like vegetable. It doesn't
taste like anything. So I reckon we're supposed to cook it. Not supposed to eat it raw. So yeah,
let's do that. And it's quite soft. So I don't think it needs much cooking. My cooking took
unexpected twists. I turned it all into soup. I just mixed it all. Added some spices that I had.
Okay, let's try it. I don't know what to think about it. Hold on. I'll make sure there's a
volcano in the background. Here we go. We're doing it. It's just a very nice thick soup.
And that coconut looking like vegetable tastes like sweet potato that is not sweet. I really
like it. It's like, it's like it's thickened with cream. But there's no cream. So it's vegan.
But it's got this creamy texture. Yeah, maybe next time I wouldn't put so much of it in the
soup because it's really thick. But just a little bit to thicken any soup that you have. It's so
good. I'm very happy. Very happy with that. And the view is what can I say? Five star view.
It's nearly six o'clock. Everyone is gone because this place is actually very popular
for a picnic. So a lot of local people come here on Saturday and Sunday and today's Sunday
just to have the picnic just to hang out here for a day and then they're gone.
Chile. They're all gone. I'm here by myself with Chile with this beautiful view. How cool.
I guess it's time to get ready for bed. I woke up at 5.30 today, hoping I'll be able to film this
killer sunrise over the volcano. But clearly this is not happening. The sun is up and the clouds
are low. That's okay. We have time. We actually have a lot of time because we're not going too
far today. So I'm just going to wait for a little bit longer. Maybe it will clear up and we'll have
a beautiful shot with Chile. Because this is such a special place. I love it. This is who we are.
He's hiding today. Doesn't want to say hi. Julio, I've got a carrot for you, mate.
Carrot? Come on. Come say hi to me today. He's so lovely. No, it's too early. He's still sleeping.
He's like leave me alone. Fair enough. I'll come back later. I'm all packed up but I want to say
goodbye to Julio because maybe he's now in a better mood. Hi Julio. Uh-huh. Now you know me.
How are you, mate? Oh, you are so sweet. Look at him. He's so sweet. What did you eat?
What did you eat? I can tell you were eating. You can't hide this.
Oh, he's like a doggie. He's so sweet. Okay, look what I have for you, Julio. Look what I have.
I have a leftover from last dinner. Julio. Julio, here. Don't stick your head out there.
Don't stick your head here. Come back. Come back. Come back. Here. Have a carrot. Oh,
you don't want my carrot? You don't need carrots? It's there, mate. It's just there. Julio. Julio,
you're out of control. It's there. Julio, here. Here. And? You like it? I guess you're not a
horsey so I don't know if you're into carrots. Julio, come here. Come here. Look. This is a
carrot. This is where it goes. Oh, no. It went down. Julio, Julio, the carrot went there. Julio,
it's there. There. Go get it. I'm sorry, mate. Maybe one day you're going to find it.
It's in your garden. Oh, you are so sweet. I'll fix my hair. Wait, wait, wait. Hold it.
