One quiet evening, a little boy sat beside his grandfather under an old banyan tree.
There was a strange curiosity in the boy's eyes. After thinking for a moment, he asked softly,
Grandfather, what is love? The old man did not answer immediately. Instead, he smiled gently,
held the boy's small finger, and slowly walked with him toward an old mango orchard nearby.
After a few moments, the grandfather stopped and said,
My child, walk through this orchard and pick the best mango you can find.
But remember one rule. You must keep moving forward. You cannot turn back.
The boy nodded and started walking. Soon, he saw the first mango. It was beautiful.
Golden, shiny, and perfectly ripe. For a moment, he almost picked it.
But then a thought came to his mind. Maybe there is an even better one ahead.
So he kept walking. A little further, he saw another mango, even bigger and more colorful.
But again, his mind whispered, If this one is good, maybe the next one will be even better.
With every tree he passed, his expectations grew higher. And with every step forward,
the good mangoes behind him quietly disappeared from his life.
He kept walking. Maybe the sweetest fruit was still waiting ahead.
Maybe destiny had saved the best for last. But when he finally reached the end of the orchard,
the sight in front of him was strange and disappointing. There were no beautiful mangoes
left. Only a dry tree stood there, with small, damaged fruit hanging from its branches.
The boy looked at his empty hands. All the best mangoes were now far behind him,
and he could not go back. Slowly, he walked back to his grandfather. His hands were empty,
but his heart was full of confusion. The grandfather looked at him and said softly,
My child, this is love. Many people keep searching for the perfect person.
And while they search for someone better, someone more beautiful,
someone more perfect, they lose the genuine hearts that were already there.
The boy stood silently. The lesson had touched him, but his curiosity was not finished.
After a moment, he asked, Then what is marriage?
The grandfather smiled again. This time, he took the boy to a nearby cornfield.
Golden corn plants were gently dancing in the evening wind. The grandfather said,
Now walk through this field and choose one strong corn. But remember the same rule,
keep moving forward. And this time, do not come back.
The boy began walking again. This time, however, he walked more slowly.
Soon he saw a strong, healthy corn. It was not the biggest. It was not the most perfect.
But something about it felt right. For a moment, he looked ahead,
wondering if something better might be waiting. Then he remembered the empty feeling from the
mango orchard. So he gently picked the corn and returned to his grandfather.
The grandfather looked at the corn and smiled proudly. This, he said, is marriage.
In life, relationships are not built by endlessly searching for something better.
They are built by choosing someone, and then nurturing that choice with patience,
loyalty, and care. Because every next tree may look greener, but it does not mean it was meant
for you. Real happiness does not come from searching the entire world. It comes from
turning the small world you have chosen into heaven. Many people spend their lives chasing
perfection. A better partner. A better opportunity. A better life. But while their eyes remain fixed
on what might come next, they slowly lose what was already beautiful in front of them.
Love is not about finding someone flawless. And marriage is not about finding the best
person in the world. True love is about choosing someone with an honest heart,
and then building something meaningful together. Because in the end, happiness does not belong
to those who keep searching forever. It belongs to those who recognize value,
commit to it, and turn what they have into something priceless.
