We're still in Slovenia and we are here exploring Lake Bled.
Hey Katrina. Hi Nath. We are in Bled, Lake Bled over here, Castle Bled right there.
And we're gonna go check out the castle. We drove up here because we didn't want to walk.
It's warm, it's very, it's like summertime. I need sunscreen on but we're not complaining.
It's a beautiful day. Love it. How old is this castle? Very old. It's the oldest one in Slovenia.
That dates back to 10, 11. It's really old. 80. Yeah, very old. Let's go check it out.
It's a very steep walkway to get up to this castle but I think it'll be worth it because
look at these views.
Wow. It's worth the cost of admission just to see the lake from up here. This is beautiful.
Uh, you're right. It is worth coming up here, paying the 17 euros just to see it like this.
It's crazy. There's only a few places in the world that I think I've seen water this color.
Canada and Switzerland. This one might be the prettiest though.
Look at this teeny tiny window on the inside of the castle. Maybe this is like the prisoner's
quarters or something. That's not the way I want to look. I want to see the lake.
So as far as castles go, I would say that this one is very, very much a museum.
Don't you think? He agrees. They've done a really good job. The history of the area,
the country, obviously the town of Bled and the castle is all laid out.
This is like, this is what nightmares are made of. She sees a thing. Look at the way their eyes
look right through you. They're just like... You think that's bad? No, no, no. This one.
Wowzers. Okay then. I have a problem with the mannequins like this. It creeps me out.
I feel like they're going to come to life. Nate would like me to point out to you the
ancient vlogger gear that they used to use back in the... How do you even say
1000s back in the 1000s? Ever since we stayed in that castle in Germany a few episodes ago,
I really like suits of armor. I want to get one for the house.
Katrina has decided she doesn't actually want to eat lunch or any of the real meals.
She only wants to eat the Bled cream cake. We had one in Ljubljana in the previous video,
but this is where it originated. And so I'm trying to get as many as we can while we're
here. And we're at the castle. We have to get one at the castle. Sugar rush.
We have acquired the Ljubljana cream cake. Here we go. I'm very excited.
This is like the Tom Cruise conundrum where you can't take a bite of it without it just
literally going everywhere. But it's okay. It's probably part of the charm, right?
Excellent. It's cold. The thicker layer of whipped cream on top kind of adds to it and
like kind of cuts through the custard that's in there. It's fresh powdered sugar on top.
It's like an extra little sweetness. Fantastic. Welcome to our hotel room in beautiful Lake
Bled. We were in an attic room in this hotel right across from the lake. We don't usually
do room tours. You know, I've abolished room tours for 2024, but this one probably deserves
a very quick tour around. It's not very big, but look at this view. So let's go.
I think we scored on the room. We really did. I mean, these windows open out because we're
literally in the attic of this building. It's a bed and breakfast really. It was pretty affordable
and the lake's right there. It looks like the lake comes up to the building. It's
right now I'm showing you B roll of this cute little, it's like a two room
attic hotel space. There's a little bathroom right in the center. There's an AC unit, which is a big
deal because I can only imagine how warm it gets in the summertime and you're in the attic. This
is great. So right across the street, you can see the boats that you can rent and take yourself
across the lake. If you want paddle yourself around. Oh, we're going to do that. Aren't we?
You don't have to paddle yourself. There are other boats that you can take where somebody else is
paddling you, but I want to do it ourselves. I knew it, man. Look at that. The Island,
the famous islands right there. That's cool.
So baby ducks are cute. I love them this time of year. They're everywhere. It's so cute.
All right. We just left our hotel area and we're going to walk to the toboggan run.
I think we're going to need to come back when it's snowing too. Cause I've seen photos of it
in the snow and it looks just as beautiful, much colder, which I'm glad it's not snowing right now,
but man, look at that view. Dang. I'm out of breath. I need to go back to the gym apparently.
Too many cream cakes. Do you see this lake? Like it's really that blue. Yeah. No adjustments.
It's unreal. Crazy. It's one of those things in the world that when you see it, it's like
just looking at it is the experience to some degree. It's like a campfire.
You just stare at the campfire. I can just stare at the lake all day.
We packed and dressed so incorrectly for this trip. Well, because normally I look at like
things in the sixties and I'm like, cool t-shirt weather. And I get there and I freeze. Not here.
Oh, we're close to the equator. Yeah. The sun is hitting different here.
I like chairlifts. Um, yeah. No, I think it's fun. It's also panic inducing when you look
down and realize if you fell, you'd be severely injured or dead. But it's a means to getting to
the top of the toboggan runs. This one is not that bad. Some of the ones we went on in Switzerland
were a little sketchy. We did a whole vlog on all the toboggans in Switzerland and nobody watched
it. So you should watch it right now. I'll link it in the description. It's fun. It was,
I thought it was fun. See the lake behind us. Oh, look at the lake. It's behind us.
Selfie sticks are stupid. Oh my God. But for something like this, I don't care.
Look at, you can even see like how green and aqua color it is even far away on the camera.
Made it to the top. We're at the top. And now we're going to go down on the toboggan.
Okay. This is really fast. I'm actually shocked how steep this is.
Man. I was thinking like I'd go no brakes, but I think I would perish somehow. This lake,
I cannot believe how fast and steep this thing is.
Some of those drops on that was kind of intense. I'm like, I'm not going to break. I'm going to
go full speed all the way down to the bottom. The first drop, I swear to God, it was like this,
like over the edge. It was fun. Like I'm like shaking from adrenaline. It seems like a hazard
of some sort, right? Like, and I thought Switzerland was like, you know, the epitome
of like toboggan runs. And this was just like blew it out of the water. This was shorter, but
crazy. I'd do it again. All right. So we're going to head out for an early dinner tonight.
I'm okay with that. We're like getting old to eat dinner at six o'clock. Oh,
you got sun today on your face. I got too much sun today. Oh no. We live in the land with no sun.
So we're not prepared. They're so fast here. The way they like bring the food out. I'm still
enjoying my bread, but I'm very excited. More sausage. Another cream cake for dessert. I'm
trying to eat as many as we can. So this is, I think the third one in Slovenia, second one in
Slovenia. So I thought dinner was awesome. Oh my God. I am so full, but I got another sausage
and a cream cake and there's bugs everywhere. The bugs are attacking. Ah, horrible. Um,
the hell is wrong with you? Anyway, we're just walking around the lake. Sun is set.
It's beautiful out. It's quiet. It's peaceful. And we're going to go to the island tomorrow.
There it is. We're going to go see the island tomorrow. Maybe row a boat out there. It's like
one of the things you have to do when you're at lake blood is go out to the island and see
the church. We're going to wrap it up for tonight. Cute drone shots.
The sun already went down and it got better.
Hey, good morning. Nice day. It's beautiful out. We are, what are we doing today? We're going
zip lining. I think we're going on the longest zip line in Europe today. We are, but first we
need food. We need food. Yeah. So we're up and Adam. It's like super early for us. I think it's
11 AM. How is that super early? I know you hate being out this late, but we're going to get some
food and then we're going to go zip lining. I've never been zip lining. I'm very excited. It'll be fun.
I just found the cutest dirtiest cat I've ever seen.
Dirty kitty cat. He's just chilling in the dirt. Doesn't care. Watching the lake. Looking at the
duck. What's up, buddy? That's not running on his nose. Living his best life.
It's not Slovenian food, but it's okay. Lunchtime.
Action cam back on because we're doing action-y things. We are. It's going to be fun. All right,
off we go. Zip line adventure awaits.
Maybe pull your knees closer to your chest. Like that. Ready? Enjoy. Bye. Bye. There she goes. Yeah.
Lift your legs, cross them, and I'll let you go. Thank you. Ready? All right. Okay, so this line
We survived. No zip lines broke. That's good. That's a plus. It was fun. Look at the landscape
that we get to walk through too. This is just so beautiful. I'm never leaving. Actually, you're
leaving tomorrow. I'm such a Debbie Downer sometimes. Um, I think it's time for some more cream cake.
I'm just gonna put that out there.
That's pretty cool. We saw that when we ate at the Chinese food restaurant, the floating Chinese
food restaurant in Amsterdam. That's pretty awesome. I'm extremely happy. These look fantastic,
and they have a little tulip on it. A little piece of Amsterdam here in Slovenia. The ratio of cream
to custard, I think, is more on point here than it has been. Like the first one we had, it was
very small. Now it's like, not quite 50-50, but maybe 60-40, which this is the OG, so gotta go
with this one. It's good. This is probably has the lightest custard that we've had so far. It's very
almost like fluffy, not so dense. The whipped cream is super light and marshmallowy pillowy.
The pastry on top is fresh, crunchy, but it's just, man, it's tough to eat. That's the only
complaint of this dessert. It's really, really good. Hey Katrina, this bear loves me.
I'm a Lakewood.
We have this boat rentaled right across from our hotel,
and this is our lovely vehicle for the next one to two hours, depending on how long it takes Nate
to row us to that island, all the way over there. The boat, after I will push the boat,
then Maggie will see the island, she will navigate. No, of course not. Maybe.
Slow down, okay? Yep. Thank you. Bye. Row your own boat, they said. It'll be fun, they said.
I could really use like a little power engine on this thing right now. This is a lot of work.
I've been busy zip lining all day, looking at a lake. You're doing great. Yeah, I bet.
I'm just back here on the boat, being rowed out to the island. Nate's doing a great job.
I think he hates me right now. He's hating life. It's starting to rain on us. We might
die in the middle of this lake, but wow, what an adventure.
We'll get to the island eventually. Cue the drone shots.
I feel like this island seemed closer than what it really is, that people were like, yeah,
it takes about, oh, five, ten minutes to row out to this island, and I know we've been
messing around a little bit, but we are not close yet.
We made it to the island. Barely. Barely. The last hundred meters was the worst part,
just trying to get the boat to the island and dock and not hit other boats. I don't know how
they just rent these to random people and expect you not to sink and crash. Mr. Nate, professional
boater. Why are you zooming in? Whenever you ask somebody to take a photo, they start to
go like this on your camera, and I'm like, don't. Do not zoom. I'll crap if I need to.
So stupid.
All right, current status, surrounded by tourists walking up stairs.
We are one of them. Actually, they're walking down the stairs. They're coming right at us.
We're going against traffic here. Yes, we are. Beautiful, though. Old stairs. What's up with
this island, and what is this building? A church? The island's very old. There's a church that's
built on here dating back to like 745. That's a long time ago. And then it was like renovated
in the 1400s, and there's a bell tower in it that you can go in and you can ring the bell,
and it's supposed to be for good luck. They charge you to do that, don't they? Of course
they charge you to do anything here. So yes, you will pay. I got all the good fortune I've ever needed.
Somebody just got good luck. Yeah, I think it's like 12 euros for good luck.
There's some ice cream, a little gift shop. I'm not seeing any cream cake, and if there was cream
cake, I probably would get some cream cake. You're crazy. I mean, you know, probably never going to
be back here, so I have to like eat as much as I can. I got cream cake ice cream.
I want to get some.
This looks better than the cream cake.
Ice cream's better than the actual cream cake. Wait. No, it is. Confirm. I think I want cream
cake with ice cream like on top of it. Right? No. Yeah. No, this is good. This is my favorite
thing I've eaten on this whole trip. Are you serious? It's really good. That's some of the
best ice cream I've ever had. Are you being serious? I'm dead serious. That is so good.
Well, they said that Slovenia was like a sleeper on ice cream that like don't knock until you try
it. Everyone goes, oh, Italy. Oh, you gotta get the ice cream and gelato in Italy with Slovenia.
This is awesome.
Hey, buddy. He's like a cat. He knows the sound of the treats.
Can I pet you? How do you think you pet a duck? Carefully. I want to pet you. It doesn't hurt.
It just scares you. This is how you pet a duck. He's way too smart. That's how you feed a duck.
That's what I meant to say. This is my duck friend. His name is Bernard. It's Bernard the duck.
He loves me.
There is no try, only do. Katrina is very upset with me as I was trying to pull her from the
island. So she said she will row us back. I'm just trying to turn it. Nice work Katrina. Nice
work. I know you're doing a great job. But I'm better at this than you are, so I win.
Debatable. How is it debatable? It's debatable. How did you feel about Lake Bled? I love Lake
Bled. Highly, highly recommend. It could get crowded in the summertime, but god there's so
much to do here. Like the water. You can take little day trips. You can just look at the lake.
Swim in the lake. Zip lining. There's hikes. There's all kinds of stuff. And I would
highly recommend this lake to everybody. Do you like Bled?
