Rameses and Duya who have been known for having either red hair and blonde hair and this
obviously has caused the Eurocentrists to go crazy yes they were Nordic Vikings I tell you
I just finished my Queen TV construction as you can see I posted that and the question that came
up quite a bit was what about her hair you know someone actually posted what about her hair some
people ask the question generally but some people do it just to troll and to be really annoying
so let's touch the entire subject of mummies and why mummies in ancient Egypt look the way they do
we're gonna smash some trolls today the whole idea behind the king's guard essentially is just
to have a place where we can explore some of these arguments made by Eurocentrists and extremists and
people who come to spread misinformation fear uncertainty doubt very easy to debunk what I
don't like to do is ignore these people because it gives them too much power and I without a doubt
get them in every single post that I make you have people making false claims because they want
Egypt to not be African unfortunately it is what it is so I'm quite happy to address some of their
arguments because normally they're really bad so today we're going to look at mummies let's start
off with the way their skin looks they're dark okay every single mummy exhumed in ancient Egypt
has dark skin now one of the things that the Eurocentric scholars will say straight away is
oh well the dark skin happens as a result of the humidity and it's a partial decomposition that's
taken place uh nonsense mummification essentially halts the decomposition process something's either
mummified or it's decomposing you can't be doing both so if this mummy's been exhumed and it has
dark skin then we can assume that that is what the skin looked like now that might sound a bit
extreme but if you want a comparison here's some Asian mummies in fact mummification is not unique
to ancient Egypt we have mummified corpses from all over the world and in every case of
mummification the mummies preserve their skin color yet in the case of ancient Egyptian mummification
we have to believe that their skin color has changed due to humidity I would rather say that
their skin color is the skin color it was like it is in the case of all of the other cases of
mummification that we have at this point if you're watching the video I'm just going to kind of
interrupt myself and ask you really quickly to hit the like button if you're enjoying the video
and you're enjoying the content and you find it useful it helps the youtube algorithm and it helps
these videos to gain popularity thanks anyway back to the video let's talk about their shape next so
what happens in the mummification process is that all of the organs will be taken out of the body
and then the body will be covered in salt and this salt will draw out all of the moisture
from the body this is this happens over a number of weeks it takes for this process of desaturation
on the body to take place why is that relevant well the human body is made up of 80% water 80%
moisture so you can imagine that is where we get a lot of our volume and a lot of our shape from
particularly in the face we know that the face of a mummy basically loses about 50% of its volume
and that's obviously in all features so if someone initially had quite fleshy lips and quite maybe a
broad or bulbous nose that wouldn't sharpen the mummy it will essentially be skin collapsed onto
the skeletal features so when you see images like this which claim that ramesses had a hook nose
you can pretty much be sure that that person is just trying to be deceiving because we all know
that the actual true shape of ramesses nose would not be preserved in his mummy every mummy has a
collapsed nose because the hooking of the nose is just simply the nose collapsing onto the bridge
broadly speaking the features should be in the same place and this is why i'm happy to use the
but hoping that the mummy represents the actual face of what the person looked like when they
were alive is absolutely ridiculous and this is a desperate hope that eurocentrists and some of
these trolls will make in hope to align these ancient egyptians away from the way they portrayed
themselves and more in line with what they see as european features the irony being even these
so-called european features are represented in africa africa is very definitively diverse and
there's actually no european feature that we don't have present in africa so it's a very difficult
argument for them to make there anyway let's go on to the texture of the hair because if we look
at the hair texture some mummies have been exhumed very afro hair but some have been exhumed with
very straight hair and i would say even straight beyond the realms of what i would say is natural
even though we have lots of different hair textures now this is all to do with that process of
a layer of resin is applied and then the hair is wrapped and then another layer of resin is applied
and then the head is wrapped again so you kind of have these two layers of resin there's two layers
of wrapping now why is that relevant well i'm wearing a durag and anybody of african descent
will know it doesn't matter how curly or coily your hair is if you apply the right process i.e
get a nice pomade you comb it into your hair and you put a durag on for a couple of hours you will
take it off and you will have the straightest waviest hair that you'd like you can achieve 360
waves in a very short period of time from the most kinky and the most curly hair now let's look back
at the mummification process a resin is like wax like i mentioned earlier but much much more
significant and much stronger resin dries almost like a plastic imagine having a durag on your head
for 3 000 years when you take that durag off your hair if you've applied the resins or the pomades
your hair is going to be absolutely dead straight this is hair that has achieved a straightness by
artifice the resin is simply acting as a straightening agent for the hair and forcing
the hair against the scalp now when it comes to females in ancient egypt it's quite different if
we look at the mummy of amos nefertari we can see that her hair is in these plaits when they found
the mummy of queen t because it had been so badly damaged and exposed it was no longer in these
plaits and i'd imagine that it would have been in these plaits to begin with so what we're having
or seeing the effect of on queen t is the effect of what we call a braid out didn't have any wrapping
around the hair the hair had been taken out and the braids had likely been loosened as well and
you can see some clues of this in the picture where the resin you can still see applies to what
now this is another process that women can go through to achieve a certain look so if women
want wavy hair and it doesn't matter actually if they have straight hair or if they have afro hair
if they want to achieve that wavy loose curled look then they can do a braid out which is
essentially putting plaits in your hair taking the plaits out and then your hair has taken on
this kind of wavy shape and format and you can get lots of examples of braid outs you can see
videos of them being achieved on youtube it's a very common hair style now this is essentially
what we're seeing in the mummy of queen t her hair would have been in these braids as a part of the
female mummification process in ancient egypt but as a result of being exposed to the elements
the plaits have been taken out and now you're left with the braid out of the hair the only
thing i would say and this is what i said in the initial video is that she would have been
someone who had looser curls and i say this just based on the fact of the length african people
people who achieve really long hair tend to be the people who have kind of the looser curled hair
so once again going back to nubians they're able to achieve this length of hair much easier than
people who perhaps have much more kinky or tightly coiled hair and this is why i suggested this is
probably a more realistic look for what queen t look like as opposed to having really tightly
coiled hair someone did actually put me onto this so i looked into it further and it's really
interesting to look into but anyway initially let's talk about hair color so a lot of people
think africans have black hair and that's not actually true it's very rare to find black hair
in africa we have very very dark brown hair to medium brown hair most africans i'm not speaking
for all by the way some africans have blonde hair we're not talking about extremes let's talk about
in general if you look at the african population people who even have very dark brown hair can
spend a day in the sun and they can come home with quite brown hair quite medium brown hair so we know
that the sun damage causes our hair to lighten now the reason that's quite irrelevant is because
your hair's pigment is actually made up of two forms of melanin eumelanin which controls black
and brown hair or which actually gives us our black and brown hair and pheomelanin which gives
us red and blonde hair now eumelanin is dominant so as a result of being dominant when you have
eumelanin or a lot of eumelanin present your hair is going to be either black or brown but that
doesn't mean that you don't possess pheomelanin eumelanin is also the most biochemically unstable
form of melanin that we have in our hair so what does this mean well when you go out in the sun
and your hair lightens from dark dark dark brown to maybe a more medium brown over a number of days
this is happening because the eumelanin in your hair is being broken down now it can be broken
down by uv oxidation that takes place and any kind of oxidative stress that your hair goes through
your hair will break down in that order so the black pigment will be stripped first and then the
brown pigment will be stripped and then the red pigment will be stripped and then eventually you'll
be left with the yellow pigment so that is the order of biochemical degradation that takes place
in your hair so when you go out in the sun your hair turns brown you now know the reason why now
why is this relevant when queen tea was exhumed queen tea had quiet brown hair they found her
now you have to understand queen tea's mummy was one of the most mistreated mummies that
they've actually ever found it wasn't found in a sarcophagus tomb raiders had already been in
the mummy had basically been quite badly abused as a result of this her hair had been exposed
to the elements for some period of time and as a result of being exposed to the elements when
they found it was brown and actually the people who exhumed queen tea's hair even noted the fact
that the reason the hair was brown wasn't likely not because it was brown in life but because it
had browned due to the fact of new melanin being biochemically unstable and the hair being exposed
to high degrees of oxidative stress so that explains their hair color let's talk about
more extreme cases we have ramesses and via um who have been known for having either red hair
and blonde hair and this obviously has caused the eurocentrist to go crazy yes they were nordic
vikings i tell you ridiculous utterly ridiculous going back to this idea of the biochemical
instability of eumelanin the eumelanin has simply been stripped from their hair um shake hands to
the op was actually present when ramesses the second was exhumed and he said there was nothing
strange about him he was essentially had black skin and he looked as any 92 year old who has
been mummified would look now i want you to think on a logical basis now which 92 year old do you
know who maybe was blonde in life has preserved their hair color at the age of their death i would
say none of them this shocking yellow color that you see here none of this is natural this is clear
telltale signs that essentially it's gone through this process of the eumelanin being stripped away
and then being left with either the red or in an extreme case of you are the the blonde that sits
underneath if you just expose your hair to any kind of oxidative stress such as putting peroxide
in your hair you will get the blonde hair in the same way that people walk around with blonde hair
so this is what you're seeing in queen t the brown wavy hair is a result of nothing more than
eumelanin biochemical instability and the process of mummification which applied resins to the scalp
and the process of a braid out basically which would have caused the hair to take on this wavy
texture it's quite simple i look at these mummies and i see africans and there's no reason why you
that's the end of this video i don't have much more to say than that if you enjoyed this
