The Interceptor collects this plastic waste before it enters our precious oceans and destroys the marine life. This eco-friendly, potentially world-saving innovation was developed by The Ocean Cleanup. The Ocean Cleanup is a non-profit foundation founded by the Dutch inventor, Boyan Slat. The Ocean Cleanup works with communities, governments, and companies to strategically place The Interceptor at the most optimal locations in the rivers. Here, it can best utilize the river's currents to guide itself and collect the waste in optimal conditions. The operation is a continuous and 24-7 autonomous process where The Interceptor can keep collecting the waste even when the dumpsters are being emptied. This helps in achieving most efficiency and also cleans the river faster. Its 50 cubic meter capacity allows for efficient emptying cycles. Currently, The Ocean Cleanup has deployed two interceptors.
