Hey girls! Are we going camping?
Are we going camping?
We are going camping very soon!
I figured, since I was getting together all the camping equipment,
I would do a new video for you guys.
Telling you, how to prepare for camping with your dogs.
Let's get to it!
Alright first, the most important thing to have when camping.
Make sure your dogs have collars that fit.
Dog tags with your name and phone number on them.
Put this back on? There you go!
Second thing you want to be sure you have,
have your dogs microchipped.
You never know if that collar could slip off,
pop off, the clip could break.
If they are out in the woods and they lose this,
how do you know who they belong to?
You definitely want to make sure they are also microchipped.
All three of our girls are microchipped.
From there, the rest of this really has no matter of importance.
This is all of the things we take when we take our dogs camping.
Dog food! Don't forget the dog food!
I usually measure mine out depending on how many days we are going to be gone.
I put it in an air tight container.
What?
The other thing I tend to do,
sometimes when you are traveling, dogs don't like to eat when they are away from home.
Sometimes they'll be just a little bit finicky.
Because we do a lot of hiking with our girls,
I always want to make sure they actually eat.
I usually bring some high quality wet food
and I mix just a little bit of it each day on their food,
so that they will eat their food.
Speaking of food, you're going to need bowls.
Make sure you have a bowl for each of your dogs.
Make sure they're clean.
This is Shelby's bowl.
This is Memphis' bowl.
This is Oakley's bowl.
Speaking of food, they're also going to need water.
I bring three dishes.
One for each of them for water.
We also bring a five gallon container that we fill with water.
I like these, because you can kind of set them on the edge of a picnic table if you need to.
They have a little spigot on them.
We fill them with fresh water every day.
We also have a two liter bottle that we keep water in, in the car.
We usually have a tendency, whenever we stop at rest areas,
we'll refill this, just so it's not warm water.
But it's nice to have this container,
because if we stop somewhere where there's not running water,
we have water for the dogs.
Another thing I tend to bring, I bring two boxes.
I bring a big one and a little one.
The little one goes in the car with us.
We usually keep their leashes in it,
some poop bags, anything like that.
The big one, I usually keep all of their leashes in.
I have a fifty foot leash, I have their retractable leashes.
Those all go in here, and they stay in the camper instead of in the car.
So whenever we go out from the campsite,
I might grab this if I know we're going on a long hike,
so that I have all the extra leashes.
But for the most part, the little one is the one that travels with us.
Speaking of leashes, you want to make sure you have leashes!
I have one retractable leash for each of the girls.
We don't use these very often.
I don't like to use them when we're on trails where there's a lot of people,
because I'd rather keep them close and have them
fifteen feet or ten feet or whatever out away from us.
Sometimes that can be a little bit harder to control them.
So we also bring their four foot leashes,
and then I also have six foot leashes that we bring.
We bring all of them and depending on what type of hike we're doing
and how close we want them to be to us,
we'll usually use either the four foot or the six foot leashes.
If we're going somewhere where there's a lot of cliffs
and we want the dogs to be close, we use the short leashes.
If we're going somewhere where it's more of a flat trail
and we're kind of safer, we use the longer leashes.
Speaking of leashes,
I also bring the walking belt.
You guys may have seen this before.
I'll try to put a link on the video
and I'll put one down in the video description
to this walking belt.
This makes it much easier to walk more than one dog at a time.
We do sell these in our online store.
So I always make sure to have this.
Speaking of fun things for the dogs,
we also bring the backpacks.
We do, don't we?
Again, this is something we don't always use,
but I always try to bring.
If it's a little bit warm out,
we won't use them just because the dogs can get overheated.
But if it's cooler and we're going on a nice long hike
or even a short hike,
we'll put these on the dogs and maybe let them carry their own water
or their own treats.
It just helps give them a little bit more exercise
and sometimes bring their activity level down a little bit faster.
Want a backpack?
I do have one for each of the girls,
but right now I only have two in my basket.
This is why I'm preparing for camping.
This is something
that a lot of you ask us about.
When we go camping and we're at our campsite,
how do we keep our dogs safe and tied down?
Because when you're at a campsite,
you can't just let your dogs run around anywhere.
I plan on doing a video of this
while we're camping.
We use a picket line.
What this is, is it's a line
and it stretches out
and each of the dogs has it's own little spot
and you take these spikes.
You can also use these for tie outs,
but we use them for the picket line.
You put one in the ground here, one in the ground here
and you stretch the line tight
and then each of the dogs goes on one of these little lines.
Right?
They're all tied together right now because I had it packed.
But we always take this with us
so that the dogs are safe at the campsite.
They have a place to be.
That way they're not getting tangled up
because if you use the tie outs
where you have a tendency to put a tie out here
and a tie out here, they tend to get tangled
around anything. Yes, these are a little bit shorter
but Memphis
just stole something out of the basket.
We don't leave the dogs tied up
to these. They're in the camper with us.
They're out hiking with us. They're in the car with us.
So they're not on it for
a permanent amount of time.
But when we're feeding them or if we're outside
and we're having a fire and they want to be out with us
this is where we keep them.
For those of you that are going to ask, you can order these
from alpineoutfitters.net
The smallest one you can order
has four hook ups on it. So it will have four
of the little tie outs for the dogs.
This one has four. You can also buy them
in different lengths for spacing in between
and different lengths for the tie outs for each dog.
Another thing we tend
to bring, which Memphis already found
We don't give the dogs rawhides very often
but I tend to bring rawhides every so often
when we go camping. Just because
if there's a lot of commotion or other people
around, it will give them something to do. Something to
chew on while they're laying. Like if we're having a fire
or something. Just kind of gives them something to do.
I don't usually give them to them very often.
These ones are actually buffalo rawhide.
You can't have these yet. These
are for camping. Another very
important thing. Poop bags. Don't forget the
poop bags. Don't forget the poop bags. Always
clean up after your pets. Be a responsible
pet owner. Keep them
at the campsite with you. Keep them in your pocket
when you go out hiking. Be responsible.
Furminator.
Gotta bring a brush. You know.
Because they shed all the time. So you might as well brush
them while you're outside. Another thing we tend
to bring. We bring a couple toys.
We always bring at least one of Oakley's babies.
Memphis stole the rawhides again.
You can't get into that.
We always tend to bring at least one of Oakley's
babies because it helps her out a little bit.
Then we bring a couple other toys that we just throw in the camper.
Something that smells like home. I mean
not that they're uncomfortable when they're
camping, but it's just one more thing to help
make them think they're at home.
Calming treats.
If you have a dog with anxiety
these can do wonders.
I have different calming treats and I have different
calming sprays. This one is
a stress reduction. It's an all natural
calming treat. We've given them to Oakley before.
They work to a point. You know they
help her calm down a little bit.
These are all natural. They're not something
that the vet gave us. These are
pet naturals of Vermont
calming treats. Grooming
wipes. These are great
for if you're at a campsite where
there's a lot of dirt and a lot of sand.
You definitely want to have some of these so you can wipe off
your dog's feet. If you're camping in
a tent or if you're camping in a camper or if you're camping
in an RV, a little tiny
dust busters
are really nice to have. I do have a dust buster.
We keep it in our camper.
Same thing, to suck up the dust
and the dirt that they bring into the camper.
When we had a pop up, we had one with us
in the pop up. If you don't have power
where you're at, just make sure you bring a little broom
with a dust pan. Sweep up the sand.
Towel. Don't forget to bring
a towel. Towels are always
nice because if you take your dogs out
swimming or if you decide to get them
wet for some reason, give them a bath
I don't know, while you're camping
towels are nice to have so you can dry them
off. We usually have, at least
bring four or five towels with us
and a line to hang them on.
Last but not least, one of the things
I consider to be most important
when camping is Kong toys.
Each of the girls has a Kong toy
and some peanut butter. Yes, this is a
five pound tub of peanut butter.
We go through a lot of it when we go camping.
These are nice while you're in the car.
You can put some peanut butter in them and give them to your dogs
and it will help. Just give them something to do
while you're in the car. While you're at the campsite
if you need them to kind of be a little bit distracted
because there's people walking around or other dogs
put some peanut butter or something
that they enjoy in one of these. Gives them
something to do. Sometimes
at night if they just need to calm down
a little bit. Just gives them something else to do.
Usually our dogs are exhausted by night time.
I tend to use these in the car and when
we first get to the campsite. Yeah?
There's nothing in it. I just washed it.
There's nothing in it.
These are a must have while
camping. I need to find the other
two because right now I only have one.
And a lot.
One more thing you should bring. Don't forget to bring
some treats. You know your dogs are going to want treats
while they're camping just like they do when they're at home.
Our dogs get a treat
every time they go outside and go to the bathroom.
We always try to bring treats so that
every time they go to the bathroom they get a treat.
Every time they come in and out of the camper they get a treat.
Something else I just
thought of that we have in our camper.
I know some of you tent camp. Some of you pop up camp.
We also have a baby gate in our
camper that I think you've probably seen in our past
camping videos that we actually put up
in front of our door just in case the door
doesn't get shut all the way. There's a baby gate blocking
you know like if somebody goes out the door and it doesn't
swing shut right and it doesn't latch and it wants to reopen
we have a baby gate for extra security
so the dogs don't get out.
I'm pretty sure that's all I remembered.
If you guys have any questions about camping or anything
else when it comes to camping
with your pets leave a comment down below.
I'll try to remember to put a link to the
Alpine Outfitters to the picket line. I'll try to
remember to put a link to some of those other things I said
I was going to put a link to. I'll remember when I go back
through the video.
The girls will be going camping for four
days. We're actually
going to Ohio.
Hopefully we'll get a lot of footage of them out on the trails
and in the camper and hiking
hiking hiking. Want to go camping?
Want to go camping?
Memphis isn't really sure what that word is yet.
Want to get in the camper? Go for a ride?
Want to go camping?
Shelby is always up for camping.
You like camping, don't you?
So anyway, I hope that helps some of you guys.
A lot of you have asked every time we put
up camping videos how we prepare for camping
with our dogs. So hopefully that will help
you as you prepare for camping with your
dogs. Camping is a wonderful wonderful
activity to do with your dogs because you're
both outside, you're in nature
there's so many places to hike, so many
things to see, so many new smells
so many smells
Our girls really love it
and we do too. We have
fun, don't we? We're actually going camping
twice this month
soon. Dude, we're going camping
twice! So anyway
thanks for watching you guys, thanks for subscribing
stay positive, dream big and we will
see you on Wednesday.
Goodbye!
Go love a snow dog!
Good girl, good girl!
Come and join the adventure!
Into a Siberian world!
