First thing you ever spent real money on?
When I was back in London I signed my first contract at three grand a year bro.
I remember my first paycheck came through bro.
Felt healthy.
Probably my first purchase.
Bought a pair of airpods and had to wait for next month for my money to come through again.
It put me in debt bro.
Gee I'll go to like my kitchen and there'll be like ---- bubbling on the side.
It looked like a like a witch's *******...
Gee and I'll be like man what's that?
Oh it's kefir.
I'm growing this.
Oh it's kombucha or something.
And she used to always make us drink it bro.
And when my brothers are like oh man no man we're not drinking this.
Top three UK artists.
Top three?
Yeah.
You're doing this to me now?
Yeah.
Okay.
Welcome back to the Mayday podcast.
I'm your host Tarell May.
And today we've got a brand new addition to the Tiger squad in 2026.
South East London raised.
Mixed heritage.
Whole family plays rugby.
Won a Super League grand final at Wigan.
Then packed these bags and moved to the other side of the world to test himself in the NRL.
He's 6'6".
An England international.
And I promise you once you get past the footy there's a lot going on with this guy.
Kai Peace Paul.
Welcome to the Mayday podcast brother.
So thanks for having me on bro.
All good cuz.
First things first.
You just moved from Nui.
New city.
New club.
How's everything settling in for you bro?
It's been mad for me bro.
I think obviously coming from Newcastle it's a bit different.
Obviously Nui was pretty chill.
Laid back.
Everything's kind of close and beachy and all that sort of thing.
But obviously moving to Sydney and Tigers as well.
Yeah I'm loving it bro.
I think city life's probably more for me.
Growing up in London it just reminds me a bit more of home.
You know later night there's things to do.
Food spots.
Probably a bit more culture as well.
You know you've got loads of cultural cuisines and stuff around.
And a bit more of the fast life.
But I think it suits me more.
What do you reckon like the biggest thing you miss besides your family?
Like back home.
Probably the food to be honest bro.
The food in England is a different level.
Some of the boys.
When I moved to Newcastle at first the boys were banging on about this Indian restaurant.
I've heard this Indian restaurant's the one bro.
You gotta go.
It's mad.
Yeah I went there.
It was horrible.
And they were telling me it was the tip top bro.
And I was like nah.
No way.
I went there and it was awful bro.
But in England.
Yeah it's very like.
There's a lot of culture there innit.
Loads of different cultures.
Where it's like African.
Obviously Caribbean.
You've got you know all sorts of cultures there.
And loads of different foods.
But yeah I miss going to like them food spots.
Where you can just pick up a plate of chicken and rice and stuff.
Like Caribbean style or African style.
I do miss that a little bit.
The food is calm.
But it's just not what I'm used to.
Yeah nah.
There's not really any like Caribbean stuff.
Nah I've been searching bro.
I've been searching.
I went to one the other day bro in Sydney.
I was on my TikTok searching best Caribbean joints in Sydney.
I went there bro.
Nah.
That wasn't it lad?
Nah.
They called it jerk chicken bro.
They just poured a jerk sauce on it and called it jerk chicken bro.
Yeah it weren't it.
I'll be honest bro.
See I need to.
I need to suss out a good Caribbean.
Because I've been searching too.
Like for African.
African Caribbean style food.
But bro in Sydney.
I don't think you're gonna really catch many many restaurants doing it good bro.
Nah nah.
I guess there's just not many like African people here in it.
Nah.
The majority of the population when it comes to like the cultured people.
Like the different cultures and stuff would be you know the Polynesians.
Yeah yeah.
I love Polynesian food bro.
Oh yeah?
Yeah I'll be eating that.
No way.
Yeah I'll be eating that.
Who Greg?
Greggy?
Greg what?
Greg Marzou?
Yeah did he show you?
Or?
Nah nah nah.
We do like culture days at training and stuff.
And some of the boys would always bring in like a plate.
Yeah.
And I'd have some bro.
It's nice man.
I like it.
It reminds me a little bit of what my food's like in some ways.
Oh yeah?
It's nice.
What's that stuff?
Taro or something?
Yeah yeah yeah.
I had that yesterday.
That's it?
Yeah.
That's crazy nah.
Not many people like like taro.
They'll usually like like chop suey the noodle thing.
Yeah yeah.
And then like the meat.
But yeah taro is like.
But then again you've got like plantains and that kind of stuff so.
Yeah yeah yeah.
It's like sort of similar kind of thing bro.
It's like a.
It reminds me of taro actually.
Yeah yeah so yeah I've had yam before.
Is that the purple one?
Uh I think the purple one's taro bro.
Yam's usually.
Orange?
On a whitey like beigey.
Yeah yeah yeah.
Is that the sweet kind of sweet one?
Nah it's not sweet.
It just reminds me of taro bro.
Have you had fufu?
I've had fufu bro.
Yeah of course.
You don't you don't um chew it eh?
You swallow it don't you or something?
Oh yeah it's like the the what's it called?
The way it feels and like it's like it's sloppy in it.
But you usually like scoop it up and put some like I don't know.
Whatever you want to put on it.
Some people like a salva leaf or something on it.
Wait what nation are you?
I'm Caribbean.
So that's African.
Fufu's African isn't it?
So you're Jamaican and that?
Yeah yeah yeah.
Well not Jamaican but I'm from a different island.
But the Caribbean's like bang and then you've got Jamaica, Dominican Republic.
I'm Antiguan and St Vincent.
I don't even know what that is like.
Two little islands bro.
There's like islands dotted around in it and they're pretty low-key them too.
I don't really know anyone who's from St Vincent or Antigua apart from my family really.
So it's quite low-key.
Yeah no 100% bro.
What do you reckon the biggest difference is from England to Australia?
The weather innit?
It's hot bro.
That's the reason I'm still here but nah I'm joking.
The weather's mad.
I love the heat.
I love going down to the beach and that but it's just nice.
You know you can just do more things when it's hot.
But you know when it's cold you're not wanting to go.
You know wake up at 7 in the morning and go for a walk or something.
But over here you know it's hot.
People all out.
Yeah coffee stuff to do.
Coffee's better as well.
The coffee's whack in England bro.
Straight out like I had coffee in England.
I was like bro what's this?
Tastes like water bro.
Yeah I don't know.
I don't know what was going on.
Yeah I heard even in England when it's like 25 degrees everyone's cheering and goes to the beach bro.
Yeah yeah like when it's on bro.
Like when it's hot in England everyone's out.
It's just rare.
Like you don't get enough heat in that country.
For like 25 degrees that's cold here though.
That's warm there.
It's different sun over there bro.
The sun's different I'm telling you.
When it's a bit of heat a bit of sunshine over there bro.
People just take the excuse to go out because that's all we get really.
So what made you choose Tigers?
Because publicly you said you loved Nui.
I think probably the biggest thing for me in the end was Benji.
Obviously I had a few chats with Benji and yeah that was sort of the turning point for me.
He's Benji Marshall for one.
But I think his vision of the club and where he saw my game as well.
Obviously at Newcastle I think it was a good two years there to be fair.
I had fun and I enjoyed my time there.
But I probably didn't feel like I could express myself as much as I wanted to.
And Benji sort of pulled me aside.
Had a few chats and he just sort of let me know what he sees in my game.
And how he sees me you know helping out the team really.
And what I can sort of provide for the team.
So it sounded better with how I wanted to play and what I felt like I could do.
But yeah I enjoyed Newcastle as well.
Newcastle was cool.
I like the area.
You know I've got nothing bad to say about it.
But yeah Benji was probably my biggest turning point.
And obviously you know Tigers is a big club and there's a lot going on there.
Yeah because there's a lot going on in the background at Nui.
Like new coach, boys are...
What did you come last year?
Like near last day.
Yeah so yeah it would have been a massive shock.
But so you said Benji was a massive like deal for you to come to the club.
And now that you're at the club what do you reckon the biggest difference is
like between him and other coaches you've had?
Probably just how he is with the boys bro.
Like I feel like a lot of the time when I'm talking to Benji I'm talking to one of the boys.
You know what I mean?
Obviously on field it's different.
When you're on you're on.
And you know when it's time to lock him you lock him.
But off the field bro it's like chatting to one of the boys.
You know he's around us all.
Easy conversation.
You know it's just nice to have someone you can...
You feel like you can chat to.
You know what I mean?
I know some coaches can be pretty intense.
Yeah.
And a lot of boys not just me but even like younger boys for example.
I bet any younger boy at the club could...
You know if they wanted to go have a chat you can go have a chat with Benji.
Do you know what I mean?
He's just easy to chat to.
Yeah 100%.
I feel like he's different to most coaches.
Like you said he feels like one of the boys.
And I feel like that's what's gonna...
Like they unlocked my best footy last year.
Do you reckon that's gonna unlock your best footy?
Or you reckon you had your best footy in the past?
No I reckon so.
That's literally what I meant bro.
When I said speaking to Benji it just...
You know he showed me his vision.
He told me what his vision was.
And how I was gonna fit into that.
And no he just wants me to express myself.
And that's what you want from your coach innit?
You want someone who sees what your potential is.
And what you're capable of.
And tells you to go do it.
Yeah because I feel like every time I've versed you.
Like came up against you.
I'm like bro this guy's very good but very underrated.
Like not really recognizing Nui.
I feel like you get not disrespected.
But like you do a lot of things that the team, the boys will notice.
But not really the fans.
Like the 1% is that.
Like I said like kick pressures, tying in.
All that kind of stuff that no one's really gonna notice.
But I feel like you suit our game style so well.
Because you got that late offload.
You got those like silky hands.
You hit a good hole.
So I reckon like this year it's gonna be good to stand next to you.
Hopefully I'm playing.
But yeah I feel like it's gonna unlock another level to the game you already have.
Which is already great.
But yeah I feel like you can be even greater bro.
Oh thank you.
I appreciate it bro.
That's literally it.
Benji told me you know he wants those offloads.
He wants me to push that kind of thing.
And even watching last year bro you boys play.
I went **** can I swear?
I don't know if I can swear.
Yeah yeah you can swear.
But **** when you boys were on bro and I was watching.
And throwing the ball around.
It looks like you're enjoying it bro.
Obviously there's that try.
The bullet try for example.
But the lead up to that try bro was just flick flick.
You boys just like you know love to play.
And it's just it's exciting for you to watch innit.
But you know that's the kind of style which I like.
Obviously you got the foundations first.
And you got to build the game and stuff.
But I just love the fact that the boys just want to throw it around sometimes.
And they're not afraid to do that.
Yeah even like watching you play.
I feel like sometimes when you're at Nui you had your hand free or stuff like that.
But I feel like I don't know.
I don't know whether it was your coach telling you not to push the pass.
Or that kind of stuff.
But I feel like you always had it offload free.
Or you always had like a try assist line break assist ready.
But it was like you were not too afraid to play.
But it was like I feel like you were just in a shelter.
Like your coach told you nah we need you to hold the ball.
And I don't know.
Like I don't know your old coach.
But like I said Benji wants you to express yourself.
He wants you to do that.
And I feel like bro that's the best style of play for you especially.
Yeah 100%.
I think the boys are just looking for it as well obviously.
You know it was always there at Newcastle and opportunities.
But I think there came a point sort of when I thought oh maybe I should just hold that.
You know I'll just build the game and see what happens.
But you know since being here I've just felt a bit more free.
And I will throw that.
Do you know what I mean?
It's just the boys are all you know on the back of it as well.
You know Breamy's mad at pushing off.
And Happy's always looking for it as well.
So hopefully you see a few of them this year innit.
Yeah 100.
South East London.
Paint a picture of that lifestyle in Bromley.
Yeah it's alright.
Yeah I don't know it's just home.
I was born and raised in Lewisham.
Which is like similar kind of or near enough to the area anyway.
South London.
Lived in Catford.
Grew up there.
Then I moved to Bromley.
I moved school.
And yeah that's where I was before I came out here.
But yeah obviously got a lot of friends family around there as well.
You know I built like a nice group around there as well.
It's very soccer based.
It was a football.
Yeah it was a soccer.
I say soccer innit.
But it was soccer to you lot but football to me.
Yeah and a lot of football.
And yeah that's just the ends bro.
That's just where it's at.
Anyone you want to give a shout out to?
Like family friends?
Oh yeah shout out to Mumsy.
Obviously my two brothers.
Yeah the boys.
The boys know where they are innit so.
Yeah nah that's mad.
But you got like people don't notice you actually live with your brother down here eh?
Yeah it's mad.
So this year my little brother moved out to Australia.
And he's living with me now which is cool.
The one thing coming over here that I always thought was
bro this would be so mad if my whole family was here as well.
Do you know what I mean?
But having him here is just yeah it's a mad feeling bro.
He came to visit me in my first year at Newcastle.
And it weren't even hot then.
It was like sort of July-ish so it wasn't mad warm.
But he was just like bro I want to be out here.
This is mad the lifestyle and just how it is.
So yeah he made it happen.
He moved out and hasn't looked back where he loves it.
But you know the aim is hopefully.
I think big brother's thinking to move out here soon.
And obviously Mumsy's got to come with us as well.
So we'll have to try and sort that out at some point.
Nah that's mad.
Because personally I don't think I could like move to England without my family.
But like for you to move down here by yourself.
You know young kid it's pretty crazy.
And I know you like obviously miss your family and that kind of stuff.
But UK rap is massive in London.
What's your go-to genre?
Go-to genre?
Yeah it'll be UK rap or drill.
Obviously the drill scene sort of blew up when I was in school.
That's what everyone was playing.
Everyone was booming that.
And yeah if I'm listening to UK music it'd be sort of it'll be rap yeah.
Yeah and then I sort of go for a bit of US now and stuff.
But I guess that's a bit different.
I love my UK.
Who's your favourite top three UK artists?
Top three?
Yeah.
You're doing this to me now?
Yeah.
Okay.
See I want to go like mainstream.
I love Central Sea for example.
Yeah.
He's too mainstream now.
Like I don't.
I listen to him and his music's good.
I like more low-key rappers in it.
But number one would be someone called Clavish.
I know Clavish.
He got jumped here eh?
Oh yeah he did.
Yeah he did.
I remember seeing the videos.
Yeah Clavish is probably my one.
I love Clavish bro he's tough.
Who would probably be M24?
Yeah I know.
I like M24.
Yeah he's the man bro.
Yeah he's a feature man bro.
I love his features in it.
Like he's got good music but his features he just.
He can just change a track in it.
Great.
And number three would be.
Probably Nines.
Yeah I know Nines.
I like Nines.
Well he's obviously.
When Fire In The Booth was big.
Nines' Fire In The Booth was massive bro.
And that was like probably one of my favorite ones to be honest so.
But yeah his music is good bro.
I like.
Whenever he drops an album bro it's on repeat for days.
Yeah.
Yeah he's got mad albums.
But you have people that like you kind of know in the UK scene eh?
We're speaking about it like from your ends eh?
So SL, Hardy.
Oh yeah Hardy went to my school bro.
Yeah.
You were telling me?
Yeah.
Go on about that a little bit.
Because I love Hardy Caprio bro and SL.
So when Mendham told me about that I was like oh.
Yeah bro so Hardy.
Hardy went to my school obviously.
And I remember he's my brother's age.
And my brother was good friends with him.
Or still good friends with him.
He's gone like low key Hardy now isn't he?
Yeah he hasn't dropped in like years.
He had a bit of controversy bro with the labels and stuff.
He came out on Instagram and dropped like a.
A few sort of paragraphs saying how he was treated or whatever it was.
And that was just him done bro.
I love when coming over here that everyone loves.
You know our boys are playing Hardy in the change room.
I was like wait what?
I was like what's going on here?
Hardy's big out west bro.
Yeah no he's sick bro.
I remember actually one time I had a detention innit?
It was a mass detention.
And I went in there and Hardy he just didn't care bro.
Like he was just there at the back like that.
Just chilling bro.
Like he was just always like that.
And then the teacher was telling him off.
And he was just like oh like shut up man.
And I was a little kid bro.
I was like oh this guy means business bro.
And then yeah he just.
He was always just chill.
But my brother always said to me.
He was like oh this guy Hardy Capre bro.
Just watch.
He's gonna blow.
And then he showed me a few of like his Unreleased songs.
My brother sent them to me on iMessage.
And yeah I was like well this guy's sick.
And then when Unsigned came out.
Obviously he dropped that when I was doing my exams.
I remember around the time.
And everyone was just playing it bro.
And then now Hardy Unsigned is like one of the biggest songs in it.
Straight out like.
He's straight out bro.
He's a good guy bro.
And then SL2 like oh he's like a bit disclosed that guy.
But he's from the bands too.
Yeah so he's actually from.
I think he's from South Norwood.
Which is like in Croydon.
But one of my boys.
Who I was friends with back in the end.
He was good mates with him.
He was good friends with him.
And I think he knew him personally.
Ran him a few times and that.
But yeah.
That's cool bro.
He's him.
He's a good singer though.
He went missing too actually.
Oh yeah.
He hasn't dropped in a while aye.
He dropped a few features.
He dropped a few more recently.
But he went missing for a while bro.
And then he dropped a few like weird ones.
He came back and dropped like some real weird ones.
And everyone was a bit off it.
Like the Berlin and that aye.
Yeah it was a bit like slow.
And he came on a feature.
I can't remember what the song's called.
With Ayo Star.
This other rapper.
He dropped a song of him recently.
And he's sort of back in business again.
But when he was on bro.
Like SL was like.
It was him aye.
Everyone loved him.
Not many people know this.
But you're in Stormzy's video aye.
Go on give us a little.
Give us a little.
Yeah about that stuff.
Yeah so that was a weird one actually.
So we were just around.
It was like a normal day.
I think it was holidays.
Like we're off school and that.
So we were just all chilling.
It was on his Instagram story bro.
He put on his Instagram story like.
So he just dropped.
Well not just dropped.
But Shut Up had been released at this point.
So he was like on the rise.
Like he was known at this point.
And he put on his Instagram story.
Just one random day like.
Oh I'm coming to this park today.
Come through.
You know we're shooting a song.
Wicked Skank Man Part 4.
Me and my boys were like.
Should we just go?
Like yeah.
So we all just rocked up bro.
Rocked up to the shoot.
And it was in like a.
It's kind of like a car park.
Behind this park.
And yeah.
It was mad.
It was just a lot of hype.
And obviously it was new bars as well.
And he was just.
Yeah it was just a mad day.
I remember seeing.
I saw Zaha there actually.
Zaha pulled up in a Lambo.
I don't even know who Zaha is.
He's a Crystal Palace player innit.
Oh is he?
Oh true.
And he pulled up in a Lambo bro.
And I was like.
Whoa this is crazy.
But there's a few photos.
And like.
In front of me.
Like Michael Dapper's there.
Crepton Cohen pulled up as well.
Like there's some.
Oh yeah I know Crepton Cohen.
Some big names were there bro.
And we're just like.
I was like 14 at the time bro.
I was just like.
What's going on?
Like it was just crazy to me.
But it was a mad feeling bro.
It was Stormzy.
That's.
And then from there bro.
I think he was already on the rise.
And obviously now he's like.
You know.
He's mainstream as innit.
But back then.
Yeah that was sort of.
That was sort of the start of Graham really.
Well not say the start of Graham.
But the lift of Graham again.
Because obviously Skepta and that.
Back in the day.
JME and stuff.
They were big.
But when Stormzy was doing his thing.
At first.
That's when Graham like.
Became a big thing.
You know.
It was already a big thing.
That's when it like.
Just shot up again.
He sort of revived it for a little bit.
Stormzy bro.
He's one of my favorite.
Is he like massive?
Because he's tall aye.
Yeah he's tall.
He's wearing that red jacket bro.
Like he's like 6'5".
I think he's taller than me.
Actually he's massive bro.
Big guy bro.
Like you just.
You don't realize through in person.
He always raps like.
Oh 6'5".
Black guy.
And I thought.
Yeah yeah whatever.
And I saw him in person.
I was like.
Whoa this guy is just a big guy bro.
First thing you ever spent real money on.
Real money on.
But this is crazy bro.
So.
When I was back in.
In London.
I signed my first contract.
At the London Broncos.
I was at academy level.
So I was like.
What 16, 17, 18.
And it was obviously.
And I think it was.
What was it?
Three grand a year bro.
Which is 6k oz a year.
I remember my first paycheck came through bro.
Felt healthy.
You know what I mean.
I was like.
Yeah I'm eating now.
Do you know what I mean.
I bought a pair of airpods bro.
First.
Probably my first purchase.
Bought a pair of airpods.
And had to wait for next month.
For my money to come through again bro.
Because.
It put me in debt bro.
That was the first thing bro.
Back then.
Airpods had just dropped.
And you know.
Everyone was getting them.
I was like.
These look mad.
I dropped it on a pair of airpods.
That was me broke for the week bro.
I think for the month even.
Bro I got a similar story.
Me.
Tiny and Isaac Tago.
We got like our.
Our first pay.
And we thought we were balling lad.
We went and brought gold chains.
Like 1k each bro.
The next month lad.
Eating noodles for the whole month.
200 beans bro.
Yeah.
Hey.
Don't spend your money.
Spend it wisely guys.
Because yeah.
It's pretty crazy what you can buy.
What's something about you.
That people generally don't know.
Oh man.
I'm going to struggle here bro.
I don't know.
What about a date night.
Anything like that.
Date.
Like.
Yeah.
If you.
If you got on dates.
I know.
I know you're single and that.
Yeah.
No.
I don't really do.
Do dating.
Well I haven't really done dating in a while.
Um.
I actually tell a lot.
I've been in a few like.
What do you call them?
Situationships.
What do you call them?
But.
Yeah.
I'm still just.
Just waiting for the one bro.
Yeah.
I'm getting old man.
I turned 25 the other day.
Oh.
People call me unk now.
And like bro.
I'm being genuine bro.
People call me unk.
And then.
And the crazy thing at Tigers as well bro.
Is all the boys like.
The young G's bro.
They're all young bro.
I met.
I met some boys.
I'm like.
Tino for example.
I'm like yo.
He's 20 bro.
He's got two kids already.
20.
First one at 18 bro.
And then I'm seven years later.
And I don't know what's going on bro.
Nah bro.
Yeah nah just.
I'm waiting for the one bro.
But I'm not really.
I don't go hard at chasing.
I just let it happen.
Like someone comes along.
And wants to change.
Change that.
Then I'm open to it.
But I think yes.
It's hard dating nowadays bro.
It's scary in the scene bro.
You don't know whether they're there.
For the right reasons or not eh.
I don't know why they're there.
You don't know.
I'm going to leave it at that.
But yeah.
You don't know why they're there bro.
Do you know what I mean.
So it's.
Yeah it's hard.
But.
Yeah we'll see what happens bro.
Your whole family plays rugby.
Was that a main topic.
At the dinner table.
About talking about sports.
Oh yeah yeah.
It was sort of just.
Well growing up.
We all sort of played.
My older brother was first.
He's four years older than me.
And he's sort of the reason why.
I played rugby from young.
But he was like my idol really.
So you know.
Dad wasn't in the picture.
So he was almost like my second dad.
And he looked after me.
My little brother as well.
As well as mum of course.
Mum was.
She's amazing bro.
But.
He was like my role model growing up.
And he went.
He played professional.
At London Broncos.
And you know.
He was like the reason why.
I wanted to be like big bro.
Do you know what I mean.
So he was sort of the reason why.
I sort of fell in love with the sport.
Of rugby league.
Yeah.
It was a big talk bro.
We all just loved it.
It was like.
A big part of our lives.
You know.
A few times a week.
Obviously we're training and stuff.
But.
You know.
We go watch him play.
And it was just.
It was a cool feeling bro.
Yeah.
Now that you're like.
You obviously got a younger brother.
Living with you.
Do you reckon he idolises you a little bit?
Yeah.
I think so.
It's weird.
Because I see.
He's like my little twin bro.
He's two years younger than me.
But me and him.
Obviously we grew up.
Sharing the same room and stuff.
And so we're very similar.
But when I look at him.
I look at him now.
It's like another mate.
Do you know what I mean?
And you know.
Through his eyes.
It might be different.
But to me it's like.
That's one of my best mates bro.
With me at the same time.
But.
I like to think so.
Like he.
You know.
He supports all my stuff as well.
He supports my team.
He's.
Even in England.
He was always.
You know.
I lived four and a half hours away from home.
So they'd always drive up.
Mum.
Brothers and that.
When they couldn't come watch me.
All my England games.
Obviously you know.
The Ashes recently.
He was at every one.
You know what I mean.
I like to think like.
He looks up to me in that way.
And I can sort of.
You know.
Make him proud.
My family proud and that.
But yeah.
He was playing professional in England as well.
He played at Rugby Union.
So it's a bit different.
He played for Saracens.
His story is a little bit different.
But yeah.
That's crazy bro.
You don't realise how much.
Like time your family actually have for you.
And then when you get older.
You start realising.
Oh bro like.
They're always there.
When no one else is there.
Like you might have a few friends that.
You know.
Are there all the time.
But it's always family stuck by.
And me and Tony are in similar situations.
He's two years younger than me.
Me and him share the room.
Same stuff bro.
Like yeah.
So it's pretty crazy.
Yeah.
It's crazy like.
Your boys are always there as well.
I've got a good set of friends bro.
Who always support my thing as well.
But when I come to think of it.
And you're right.
When you get older.
You sort of realise that.
I get.
I feel guilty sometimes.
Thinking like.
I haven't called mum in a while.
It's been a few days.
She'll always be messaging me.
And she's always.
And obviously from my side.
Like I've got things going on.
You know.
I'll be like.
Just doing up life.
You know what I mean.
And training and stuff.
But from her side.
I'm thinking.
I haven't you know.
She might be upset.
I haven't spoken to her this week.
And stuff so.
But then I think about.
Every time I played rugby bro.
It was you know.
It was once a week.
When I obviously.
When I was in England.
In the Super League.
And she'd come out every weekend bro.
Without a doubt.
Every.
Even away games bro.
She'd always be there.
Yeah.
And I'm obviously.
Very grateful for that.
Got a lot of love for my family bro.
We're all like tight knit.
So.
We got each other big time.
You reckon that's the main reason.
You play footy.
Is for your family.
100 percent.
For mum bro.
Yeah.
She's the.
She's the reason why.
Yeah.
When I think about my wives.
Of why I play sport bro.
It's.
Obviously.
For myself and stuff.
But I don't even think about that bro.
I just think about straight up.
Mum bro.
Like.
Every game.
She'll call me straight away after bro.
Don't matter the time bro.
I'll play like you know.
Late games here.
You know.
The midday games as well.
And it'll be like.
Four in the morning for her.
Before I even finish bro.
I'm in my car.
And bang.
Mum's message me.
Oh well done today.
Call me when you can.
Kind of thing.
She's always there bro.
You know.
She's always waking up.
Doing this.
Doing that.
She's.
She's always there man.
And yeah.
She's my reason why bro.
I can't lie.
She's.
Single mum bro.
Three kids.
Yeah.
Three boys.
Three big boys bro.
We can eat.
But she always made sure.
Not only was there food on the plate bro.
But she's.
Always made sure it was organic.
She's very big on our health innit.
Very big on like nature.
And on our health and stuff.
Everything had to be organic.
Everything had to be.
You know.
This that the other.
She had all this.
Random.
She'll go to like my kitchen.
And there'll be like.
Shit bubbling on the side.
This like.
It looked like a.
Like a witch's.
Gee.
And I'll be like.
Mum what's that?
Oh it's kefir.
I'm growing this.
Kombucha or something.
And she's always make us drink it bro.
And when my brothers are like.
Oh man.
No mum.
We're not drinking this.
Drink it now.
All the supplements and that bro.
And.
You know.
You look back on it then.
It's like.
Oh man.
This is.
You know.
This is jarring man.
This tastes nasty.
Like what am I.
And then I look on it now.
And I'm like bro.
It was always us before her bro.
Like she always put us first.
You know.
Obviously.
Didn't.
Like we didn't grow up with.
Loads of money for example bro.
But.
Mum always made sure like.
Even though it was more expensive.
And stuff bro.
It was always.
As I said organic.
And.
She's always making this.
And making this.
And just for.
Me and my brothers bro.
To make sure.
Obviously we're healthy.
But.
Yeah.
She's just.
Yeah.
I can't.
I could go on forever.
Everything was just us first innit.
That's crazy bro.
Your mum's like switched on like.
Not many people know about that like.
Kefir.
Kombucha.
Organic.
Bro it's pretty crazy bro.
She made it all herself bro.
Yeah.
Especially like.
You were younger back then like.
Yeah.
Technology wasn't really a big thing.
It's crazy.
Your mum and that.
She's big on it bro.
Yeah.
Shout out mumsy bro.
That's.
Hundred percent.
That would have helped you.
Get to where you are now bro.
Yeah.
Nah that's amazing bro.
Not many people know about your culture.
Like.
Even for myself.
I didn't know much about your culture.
Go through like the.
Nationalities you are.
Oh so.
Obviously I'm English.
And Caribbean as well.
I'm from Antigua.
And St Vincent.
They're just two islands in the Caribbean.
I'm Faroese.
Which is.
Quite low key.
It's the Faroe Islands.
So like.
In Scandinavia.
We're like sort of Denmark.
Norway and that.
It's just a small island.
Called the Faroe Islands.
My mum's.
Dad was from there.
My granddad was from there.
Or my grandpa even sorry.
He grew up in the Faroe Islands.
I think that's where I get my hype from innit.
He was big.
Mad tall.
Like a viking innit.
Bro those people.
Vikings they all.
Like that area.
Yeah yeah yeah.
Big guy bro.
He was massive.
I never got to meet him sadly.
But that's mum's.
Yeah.
And then.
I'm French as well.
So mum's.
Mum's mum.
Is French.
Yeah.
Or she's not fully French.
I think she's.
Half or something.
So.
English.
Caribbean.
French.
And Faroese.
But then when I do.
I did like a DNA test one time.
And.
I'm hardly even English bro.
Like.
It's like.
8% English.
I'm Nigerian apparently.
Which is Africa.
Completely different.
And then the Faroese gene was like.
25%.
So.
So yeah.
And then.
Must be where I get my hype from bro.
Because my little brother.
He's got.
The most percent.
In Faroese.
And he's bigger than me.
Yeah.
He's like another level up.
Damn.
So it's.
It must be the gene that gives us the hype.
So you're a full.
Fruit salad.
But.
Not really many people know about bro.
I don't even know any of those.
Besides English and French.
Yeah.
What do you reckon.
You most identify with.
But.
Out of those cultures.
Oh.
I'd probably be just.
English and Caribbean bro.
Yeah.
Cool.
Obviously to know where.
What's inside me.
Was.
But.
English is.
Obviously where I grew up.
Yeah.
You know.
It's my home country.
That's my.
That's my place.
And then obviously the Caribbean.
Yeah.
That's where my dad was from.
So.
Yeah.
That's where.
You know.
My culture.
I guess my culture is probably.
Caribbean and English.
Yeah.
Be between them two.
Nah.
That's crazy bro.
Freaking.
Man.
I'm gonna have to do my research on that.
I didn't know any of them.
I don't think a lot of English people would know bro.
To be honest.
Like Faroe Islands is small bro.
They know the Faroe Islands.
But they wouldn't know I'm Faroese.
I've heard like a few.
People say.
Antique.
In like.
Songs.
Yeah.
But.
That's about it.
Yeah.
Nice.
Pretty low key.
It's tiny bro.
I think the islands like.
You can drive from one side to the other.
In a few hours bro.
It's that small.
Yeah.
That's crazy bro.
You played a grand final at Wigan.
While doing your sports science.
At UCL.
Is that it?
That's crazy.
Tell us a bit about that.
When I signed at Wigan.
I signed a four-year deal.
And part of the deal was.
Because mum was big on like education.
And I was like.
I want to get out of this bro.
In my head.
I was like.
I just want to go.
You know.
I can't do this school thing no more bro.
I hated it.
I hated school.
But.
Mum was like.
No you need to do a degree.
And when I was in the meeting.
Like negotiating.
And I was hoping she would mention it.
And she's going.
He wants to do a degree though.
Like he needs to.
He needs to be part of it.
Like oh yeah yeah.
They had like a link in it.
They got me like a link with.
It was our nearest uni.
Which is called UCLan.
And yeah.
I was doing that alongside it.
I did it.
My first two years.
I was doing sport and exercise science.
At this uni.
And then it was.
It was COVID at this time.
So it was pretty easy to like.
It was all online.
I could catch up on.
Lectures and stuff.
And then in my third year.
They.
They're like.
Oh we want you to come in twice a week now.
And it was like during training days.
And you know.
You know how much you get out of a training day bro.
It's like.
I know.
I think my team was sort of like.
You know.
I couldn't.
Be missing.
And at this point.
I've broken through.
And I was playing every week bro.
So like.
I couldn't just.
Be missing two days of training bro.
Early in the week as well.
So I just.
I put it on hold for a bit.
Haven't visited since.
But I'll probably.
I'll probably carry on doing that at some point.
Further down the line.
But yeah.
I'm just sort of getting my.
Finding my bearings really bro.
But.
And in terms of wigging the grand final.
Yeah that was pretty mad.
It was a.
Actually I lined up against your brother bro.
Oh at Catalan's.
Oh no wait.
He was at Catalan's wasn't he?
Yeah he was at Catalan's yeah.
So I lined up against him.
And that was.
That was a mad feeling bro.
It was.
It was my fourth year at Wigan.
And my last year before going to Nui.
So in a way it was like.
That ending you sort of dream of innit.
Like my last run out with the boys.
And I got a GF.
But yeah that was pretty mad bro.
Running out Old Trafford.
You know it's a big.
Big stadium.
That's where United play.
So.
Yeah.
I haven't heard noise like it.
And you know what the UK fans are like as well bro.
They were screaming.
Yeah.
I remember being on my line.
Defending at one point bro.
And I'm looking.
And I can't.
I'm just seeing my.
Like my.
My half.
Evan.
He was trying to say something to me.
And I genuinely couldn't hear it.
Like it was that loud.
It was so loud.
It was like roaring down bro.
And it was.
It was a mad experience bro.
Grand final was cool man.
It's crazy like.
During the year.
There's barely any fan base.
And then once like.
The finals come.
It's like everyone just rocks up out of nowhere.
And yeah.
They got their like mad chance.
Yeah.
All that stuff bro.
My brother reckons like.
England's got like.
Their own chance for it.
They like roast.
Like it's bad with the roasting bro.
Like it's like.
Race you with that aye.
Like bad yeah.
He reckons like.
It's worse than NRL.
I was like.
Bro you can see it.
Even off field aye.
They do like bro.
Fenders and that old people aye.
You know what.
Like the culture in England bro.
Like it's sort of.
I think it's sort of.
It's big in soccer anyway.
Like you watch soccer games bro.
They're chanting.
They.
I see them on bro.
I see them on Twitter bro.
I'll be on my Twitter.
And I see.
I can see fans.
Writing lyrics going.
Yeah we're singing this next game bro.
Like they're.
Yeah yeah yeah.
Like they're.
They're pretty brutal out there bro.
Like I've been at games before.
Because like.
You'd be on the sideline bro.
And you know.
Over here for example.
You're on the sideline.
And it's just.
It's just noise.
Do you know what I mean.
Or we just scored.
You're on the sideline.
You're just you know.
Not much noise.
But over there bro.
You got these.
These guys who are drunk bro.
They're passionate as a goal.
They go.
And you *******.
Messy.
You *******.
Luckily I never had no racial ---- bro.
Like.
I don't know how I feel about that bro.
It would go.
Yeah.
I wouldn't like that at all.
And I don't like being.
-------.
Rinsed either.
Yeah.
I'm just.
I'm trying to ignore it bro.
I'm not looking forward to that.
I'm looking at the corner of my eye bro.
And then one.
One of them starts screaming it bro.
They all jump on.
Like they're.
They're savage over there bro.
UK fans are savage man.
But.
What's cool about it bro.
Is you can go to a game.
There'll be 5k supporters.
And they'll be loud as.
Loud eh bro.
There'll be 5k supporters bro.
And they'll have drums.
They'll have bells.
Like some.
Yeah.
They just.
They know how to chant bro.
Like it just.
I don't know.
It sort of adds like.
Fuel to the fire bro.
Like when you hear them.
You know.
It's pretty cool bro.
It's a mad experience but.
UK bro.
It's the ultra.
Bro even like.
Soccer games and that.
Like they won't let.
The opposite team.
Sit with their fan base eh.
It's like.
It has to be mixed.
Otherwise they'll like.
Punch on and that eh.
You see videos bro.
Like the.
The crowds like.
Screaming at each other and ---- bro.
That's crazy.
There's things in.
In um.
They're called uh.
What are they called again?
Firms.
Every like.
Some teams have a firm.
I think it's called and.
There's people that just.
Go there to fight.
What?
Yeah yeah yeah.
I think it's firms.
Yeah yeah.
So like.
One of.
One of the boys.
I went to school with.
Used to be part of.
I think it was a Charlton firm.
And he literally.
You just like.
You're in a group of.
People that go there to fight bro.
Yeah yeah.
And he comes to school.
He comes to school with like.
Black eyes and ----.
And sometimes he's like.
Yeah bro.
------- got in his scrap.
Last weekend bro.
It was ******* mad like.
They just go there to fight bro.
Yeah yeah like.
West Ham Millwall bro.
That's a.
What's it called?
A rivalry.
You'll never see anything like bro.
Really?
Yeah.
Like there's.
There's like.
Police have to be.
On the streets.
And stuff after bro.
Like it's pretty.
Yeah.
When there's games like that.
That you got like.
It will just get out of hand bro.
But it has to be police properly.
Because.
They're just.
Drunk.
And angry.
And they want to just.
Beat up the other fans apparently bro.
Yeah it's crazy.
Get a load of the players bro.
The fans get it too apparently so.
Yeah it's mad man.
So when you moved over to Australia.
Obviously NRL and Super League.
Are very different.
What was the biggest gap.
You found between.
Super League and NRL.
I'll say for me.
Just the speed of the game bro.
At the end of the.
Super League is physical bro.
Like it can be physical as.
You got these big guys.
Especially when you're a young boy as well.
You got these big middles bro.
Who like.
Bit loose.
They just want to take your head off bro.
And like.
It can be.
It's a very different game.
Over here it's just fast.
I won't even say it's more physical bro.
I think it's just more.
Like when you're on the back.
It can just.
The game can just change like that.
That momentum.
Like you lose a ruck bro.
They're flooding through.
Yeah.
You know what I mean.
And it's just quick.
You got to get off straight away.
In Super League bro.
Like I remember.
I went back last year to watch.
Oh your brother would have been playing.
I watched the grand final versus Wigan.
Yeah.
And I was watching the game.
And I was just thinking.
Oh this is slow like.
Slow eh.
You can just dive on.
And take the piss a little bit more.
But over here bro.
Like you got.
You know.
It's depending on the tackle.
But you got a few seconds max.
And the refs.
You know.
Six against and that come in.
And yeah.
I'd say it's just a lot faster bro.
That's what I would say.
Right.
Even when we came over.
For the test match.
When you just pumped us.
Three or two nil.
Right.
Like the rules all like.
Way that you can go downtown.
You can leg lift.
You can have like five people in a tackle.
You can lay there for ages.
I always say to my brother.
I go.
Bro like.
Is it slow?
He goes.
Yeah.
Because.
That's how we get like mad line speed.
Because we'll like just send four people.
They'll win that ruck.
And then the next ones just fly off.
And you can do that all game.
Like you can be offside.
He goes.
Whereas NRL bro.
It's like real fast.
And yeah.
Like you said.
With one.
If one ruck gets blown.
Bro.
Because people are just flying.
Yeah.
But he reckons.
Even.
Like you said.
The physicality is weighted.
Like he reckons.
It's more physical there.
Which makes sense.
When you're.
Getting when.
Three people flying off the line.
Every tackle bro.
That's what it is bro.
Like it's.
That bit slower.
So you can just.
People just lock and load.
And you get guys flying out from DC.
Yeah.
Like it's ruthless bro.
You get people just.
Flying out cause.
You know what I mean.
Like they just pin you in the corner.
It's brutal over there bro.
It can be.
It can be mad.
And obviously some of the boys.
That go over there as well.
Some big bodies that go over there bro.
So.
Bro you can.
Bro you can do.
Way more stuff.
But.
They got like.
The UK people.
I remember playing them when I was 15.
Bro they're.
They're not normal like.
Like they're actually.
There's something wrong with.
Some of them like.
Like straight up like.
Like they'll fly like.
Runner.
Flying elbow.
Like bro.
It's like they're trying to fight you.
But like.
Yeah just like.
Britty innit.
Yeah.
Like digging their head on the floor.
And stuff like.
They just.
Yeah.
It's just sort of in their.
In their like.
Veins and DNA bro.
Like a lot of teams.
Will just teach that from young like.
On the floor.
Stick an elbow in his neck.
If you can or like.
Dig your head into him like.
There's just.
It's just how it is bro like.
That's just how.
Some of the UK boys are.
But they're just.
A lot of.
A lot of our game.
Or the game in UK.
Is just built on.
Being tough bro.
Yeah.
And being like.
Resilient than that.
And just not.
You know.
Being a dirty cunt.
Being like.
Someone you don't want to play against.
So.
Yeah.
But then you get those guys like.
Bro watch.
Bevan French.
Holy bro.
He's ridiculous bro.
Like the game's slow but.
Like how does that guy.
I don't know.
Like if.
It feels like.
He has so much space.
And time or.
I don't know.
Like.
Because I think.
He does fluky stuff.
But then I'm like.
Bro he does it every week.
So it can't be fluky.
Yeah.
He's probably.
Genuinely the freakiest player.
I've seen bro.
Like.
He's just.
Good at like.
Manipulating people.
Bro.
Like I don't even know.
How to explain it.
But like some of the dummies.
He does bro like.
He'll skip across the line.
And.
He does that dummy.
He flicks a ball at me like that.
And people just jump at that.
And he just goes straight through.
Obviously.
When I was coming up.
In Wigan.
Looking against him.
And he's looking at me like that.
And he just goes.
Mink.
Just takes off.
And I'm like.
F**k.
Gone.
Bro's missed ball.
Like.
Even though.
Some of his missed passes.
And that bro.
He don't even look.
On the week.
On the weekend.
He threw.
Like a free cut out pass to the wing.
Without even looking.
Score.
Or even when Penrith.
In the World Club Challenge.
Bro.
He just.
Even kicks on the first and that.
And gets it back.
All the time like.
Yeah.
He's um.
He's freaky bro.
He's just like a.
He's just a footy player bro.
Off the cuff.
Yeah.
Bro off the cuff bro.
Like he'll just.
You give him a cue.
He'll just take it.
And he's just.
Athletic enough to get there bro.
Yeah.
He's a good player man.
He's.
He's ridiculous.
The Ashes Series in London.
50 members of your family and friends.
You said that was a pinnacle of your life.
Yeah.
Go through that a little bit.
Yeah.
I mean it was.
It was sort of.
Two in one for me.
Because.
Not only was I playing in my.
My hometown.
My country.
I was playing in my hometown as well.
And it was weird for me.
Because Wembley was one of them stadiums bro.
Like.
As a kid.
I'd go out with the family.
Mum would take me and the boys to go watch.
Like a rugby game for example.
And I'd be sat in a crowd looking down like.
You know like.
I think I watched.
I think I watched Sonny Bill play there one time.
I think it was um.
It was the.
The New Zealand versus England.
I remember.
And I love Sonny Bill growing up.
Yeah.
I remember being up in the crowd looking down.
And I was thinking.
Oh this is crazy.
And then.
It was when I was walking on the pitch bro.
Like.
The day before the game.
He went there.
You know like.
I was just looking up.
And I looked up where I was actually like.
The area where I was sat.
And I was like.
I was up there.
A little kid.
Like.
Watching down.
And like.
You know.
In disbelief.
Like looking at you know.
Sonny Bill.
Oh my god.
That's.
And then.
I'm going to be playing there tomorrow.
With my family looking down on me.
My friends and that.
It was.
It was crazy bro.
It was even better being in my hometown.
Because.
Obviously everyone's local.
Yeah.
And I had people messaging me like.
Tickets da da da.
And I'd.
I had like teachers bro.
Like people at school.
Teachers at school.
It was just crazy bro.
Like.
The love and support I got.
Obviously in my hometown was crazy.
But.
It was more just the fact of.
People that I hadn't even spoke to.
Or seen in.
In years.
Where they're just watching me bro.
And I.
Didn't even know about it.
It was just.
Yeah.
It was a proud moment bro.
Obviously.
School I wasn't.
Didn't go.
As I planned.
Obviously.
We went down to Australia.
But.
Still proud nonetheless bro.
Having my friends and family there as well.
Was crazy.
No.
100 percent.
And.
Like.
You know how there's like.
Pinnacles.
Like.
For.
Boys like me.
Playing.
New South Wales.
Playing for your country.
Is that like the highest achievement?
Playing for your country?
100 percent.
Yeah.
It's one of the things that.
As a little kid.
If you're involved in a sport.
You want to play for England.
Yeah.
You know what I mean.
Like we haven't got like a.
New South Wales over there.
So like.
England is the pinnacle bro.
It's the highest.
Accolade you can achieve.
In terms of rugby league in England.
So.
Yeah.
It was.
I remember.
I put the jersey on the first time.
In the world.
And that was cool enough.
I think this time around.
I've obviously a bit more.
Established and stuff.
Yeah.
It was just.
It's just proud bro.
Like.
It's emotional.
Like standing there in it.
And I'm looking up.
And I'm seeing like.
My mum.
My grandma as well.
Like she's real like.
Proud.
The English and stuff.
Singing the national anthem.
I'm looking up.
And I'm seeing my friends.
And my.
Mum and that bro.
It gets.
It's a weird feeling bro.
I can't.
Really explain it.
Like.
It goes fast.
The national anthem bro.
I'm just thinking about a lot.
I'm looking up singing.
I'm thinking about.
Everything that's like.
Sort of led to that point.
You know what I mean?
It's just.
Yeah.
And obviously.
Having mum there as well.
Seeing me.
You know.
Play for my country.
Represent my country.
And.
In front of so many fans and that.
It's just.
Yeah.
It's crazy bro.
Yeah.
And I think the best thing.
For those like.
Ashes test is.
Like boys like you.
That play in there.
And are all.
You all get to go back home.
You know.
Be around your families.
Friends.
Yeah.
Get to be in camp.
With you know.
Boys you kind of grew up against.
Grew up playing with.
That kind of stuff.
So.
It's mad to see like.
How much.
Pride you all put into that jersey.
Yeah.
And yeah.
I reckon.
Like for the world cup coming.
But.
He's going to be another.
Another team.
Because.
Which pool are you guys in?
I don't know which pool.
We were in.
Your pool bro.
Oh.
Is that the one where.
Only one goes through aye?
Yeah.
So you got.
Samoa.
PNG.
Yeah.
You are in our pool.
And someone else.
And then.
And then we don't play you.
Yeah.
I know yeah.
Yeah.
I think Tom is in there as well.
Yeah.
Yous do.
Yous got Tonga.
PNG.
And I think France.
You play.
I don't know if France is the warm-up.
Or is it.
Is that a pool game?
I'm not so sure.
That's a pool game.
Oh yeah.
We got three.
Yeah.
And then.
Yous go through.
Like one from our.
Goes through.
Like one of each.
And then.
Two go from that.
Aussie and New Zealand.
Yeah.
So it's going to be crazy bro.
World cup.
And.
Hopefully we can both make it.
Yeah.
Hopefully yeah.
Then that's us bro.
Yeah.
We'd line up against you.
Now that I know you as well.
It'd be weird playing against you bro.
Yeah.
It would be aye.
I hate playing against the boys bro.
Weird innit.
Yeah.
You don't want to be like.
Dirty and that.
But at the same time it's like.
Yeah.
Just the game bro.
You know what I mean.
It's all love at the end of the day.
But it's like.
You know.
We both want to win.
Yeah.
100% bro.
Our country.
So this is going to be.
It'll be interesting bro.
Yeah nah.
That's what.
I'm looking forward to the world cup.
If I can make it.
But then I'm like.
Because there's so many boys.
That's probably going to wait.
Play world cup this year.
It's like.
Oh.
I don't know.
Let.
Or let me just go play on the other side.
I don't have to run at the boys bro.
Yeah.
Nah.
It's going to be crazy bro.
Yeah.
What does the best.
Version of Kypie's 4.
Look like from here.
In rugby.
Probably just.
I feel like when I'm at my best bro.
I'm just more.
Pretty calm.
Collected but.
You know.
Running hard.
Like offloading.
Just being difficult bro.
Yeah.
I mean that's the main thing for me.
Like I'm.
Pretty awkward build innit.
I'm not your average rugby build.
I'm just long.
And like.
I think when I can be a bit of.
A bit sort of unorthodox.
A bit hard to handle.
And just a bit awkward.
I think that's sort of when I'm at my best.
Offloading.
Like just being.
Annoying really.
Yeah.
I think that's.
I think that's probably me when I'm at my best bro.
That's what I can really think of.
Then what about off the field you reckon?
Probably just when I'm locked in bro.
Like in routine.
Recovering.
Like obviously I eat well as well.
But.
Yeah.
When everything's like.
When I'm locked in.
Recovering.
Doing my ice season now.
I've got like a set routine.
Sort of when.
When the season starts.
There's obviously things I want to do.
Like I've sauna most days and stuff.
Yeah.
Obviously ice is after every training session.
But yeah.
Off the field when I'm at my best.
It's yeah.
It's just when I'm.
Locked into my routine bro.
And.
And yeah.
It's probably where I play my best rugby.
When I'm sort of fresh.
Back at that.
Last one.
If you could go back to.
Kyle Pierce Paul when he was 19.
What would you say to him?
That's a deep question bro.
That's a good question.
Um.
When I was 19.
Well I guess I won't.
I won't over here yet.
At that point.
So one thing I'd say is just.
Go NRL.
Yeah.
I think.
I was sort of contemplating it a little bit.
Um.
When I was obviously in.
Contracts and stuff.
Because I thought.
Like you know.
I'd already moved away from home already.
And.
You know.
I was already.
Obviously already be hard.
Being away from the family and that.
But.
I guess this was another step.
And I was obviously thinking.
I could.
I can either.
Like stay at Wigan for example.
And.
You know.
Still be close to my family and.
And.
I guess.
Not step out of my comfort zone again.
Because I'd already stepped out at that point.
But.
I think it was just.
Yeah.
Step out of that comfort zone bro.
Like moving out here was.
The best thing I ever did.
Um.
And.
Yeah.
I'll just say.
Don't be afraid.
Take the leap bro.
I remember I had a teacher at school.
His name was Mr Jones.
And.
I was chatting to him a lot about my rugby.
Because he was obviously real.
Real interested in it.
And he was.
Played rugby as well.
And.
One thing he always said to me is.
You know.
You can only go.
Down from the top.
He said aim higher.
If it doesn't work out.
You know.
You go down.
You've done the top.
Do you know what I mean?
So.
That's one thing I always sort of think of is.
The NRL is obviously the pinnacle of.
Of rugby league.
Yeah.
And is deemed as like the best.
The best league in the world.
Yeah.
Always test yourself.
Because Mumsy was the same.
She told me from the beginning.
Go NRL.
Like.
Even when I was contemplating it.
She was always big on just.
Go.
Step out of your comfort zone.
Give it a go.
And what if it don't work out.
It don't work out.
But.
You'll regret it one day.
If you don't give it a go.
So.
Yeah.
Just for me.
Step out of your comfort zone.
Don't be afraid to.
Step out of your comfort zone.
And try new things.
Yeah.
Don't be afraid to fail.
I guess.
Yeah.
Everyone fails bro.
But don't be afraid to fail.
If you never tried it.
Then.
You'll never know innit.
100% bro.
Me and Tony always say like.
Your biggest.
Losses is probably your biggest lessons.
Like people look at it as a.
Like I might have failed.
But.
I kind of look at it as a.
Bro it's a lesson.
And I've.
I've had many fails.
In my life.
But.
Feel like they're lessons.
I can teach.
You know.
My kids.
Other people that are close to me.
And all that kind of stuff.
I want to kind of go back.
Just.
Wrap it up.
Do you reckon it like.
I don't.
You know some people in Super League.
They never leave to come to.
NRL.
Then like you said like.
Do you reckon most people think.
NRL is the pinnacle.
Or do you reckon some people just.
Think Super League is the pinnacle.
That's why they don't move over.
Or they just.
They can't like leave their family.
And that kind of stuff.
Yeah.
I wouldn't say it's because.
People don't think.
Like the NRL is obviously.
You know.
Probably the top.
The best place you can go.
When it comes to Rugby League.
I think it's probably more just.
Being comfortable in it.
Like a lot of people.
Where I'm from.
Also know where I'm from.
When I moved to the.
To the north.
To Wigan.
A lot of boys.
They're all happy bro.
They're real happy.
They're like super happy.
You know.
They've got their.
Their missus.
Their house.
Their girl.
You know their girlfriend.
They got.
Uh you know.
Dogs and that.
And they're just.
They're happy.
That's their life bro.
They're happy just to.
You know.
Go for a walk in the park.
In the local.
And stay in their hometown.
They're real proud bro.
Yeah.
A lot of people.
Especially Wigan.
Where I found.
Everyone's real proud.
To be a Wiganer bro.
And real proud.
To be from that area.
I think that's sort of the.
Maybe the reason.
Why some people.
Wouldn't move out.
Is because.
They're just happy.
Being around family.
And they're happy.
To just do that.
For the rest of their life.
And that's.
That's fine.
Yeah.
Everyone's different isn't it.
But I think for me.
Coming out here.
Especially.
I'd already moved from London.
That was a big step for me.
And then.
From there.
It became easier.
Because.
Yeah.
I was.
I was sort of.
Used to being away from home.
And.
Being in an uncomfortable situation.
In a new sort of area.
So.
Yeah.
I would say.
That's probably the main reason.
A lot of boys.
Don't.
Well not.
Don't want to come out here.
But.
Yeah.
They respect the league.
Highly bro.
NRL is respected.
Big time.
It's just.
Some of them.
Would just be happy.
Just to chill there.
And do that for the rest of their life.
And.
That's cool.
That's us for today brother.
Appreciate you pulling up.
And being real with it.
