After a 12-day trip that took me through the country of Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh, followed by a 48-hour layover in Kuwait City, Kuwait, it was finally time for me to head back home to Miami. Come along with me as I fly Qatar Airways and give my Economy Class review on my way from Kuwait to Miami!
My travel day began at 1 a.m. in Kuwait City. After exploring Souk Al Mubarakiya just hours earlier, it was time for me to make my way to the airport. My boy Yousef and I crossed the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Causeway, which is the longest bridge in Kuwait and one of the longest in the world, to get there. It’s 48.5-kilometers long and cost $3 billion to build. It will link Kuwait City with the Silk City, which will be built across the Bay of Kuwait.
We had some trouble getting onto the causeway, but we eventually found our way after about an hour. We passed the port. Taking the causeway cuts the travel time to the airport from 90 minutes to just 30. I could see the Kuwait City skyline lit up as we drove. It’s such an epic bridge. At one point, I got out to look out at the Bay of Kuwait.
We made it to North Kuwait. At the bridge’s midway point is a tall structure that has multi-colored lights shining on it at night. We arrived at the airport and headed to Terminal 5, which is for international flights.
I said good-bye to Yousef, checked in, and went through security, and walked around for a bit. I saw places where you can eat and eventually made it to my gate. This airport only has 26 gates, so it’s really small. My 1-hour flight to Doha, Qatar would leave at 5 a.m., and then after two hours, I’d head from Doha to Miami.
I slept the entire way to Doha. I was destroyed! I met some guys from Kenya and then saw a random dinosaur display in the airport. I saw the iconic teddy bear in the airport and made it to gate C5. When you go through security here, it’s really intense. You have to take everything out, but it’s super legit. I had a 16-hour flight ahead of me!
We boarded a little late. I got an entire row to myself. I couldn’t wait to have some wine. I hadn’t had any alcohol in 3 days because Kuwait is a dry state. I was looking forward to eating. Qatar Airways has the best Economy Class in the world!
For brunch, I ordered the Jeera aloo with vegetable tikki, which also comes with a grilled paratha. They also had lots of beverages, but I wanted to just have some red wine. The food was really good! Qatar Airways always does really good Indian food!
I slept about 10 hours and got some chicken biryani for dinner. I’d had it on my flight to Armenia and was happy to have it again. I also had a cold salad, which was phenomenal. It contained couscous, cucumber, and onions. I loved it!
After a 16-hour flight, we finally landed back in Miami in 5:30 in the afternoon. This is the fastest way to travel halfway around the world from Miami!

There's no better airline that has this level in economy class. None.
Hey, good evening everyone. This is David Hoffman from David's Been Here in Kuwait City, Kuwait.
It's actually one in the morning right now and I'm headed back to Miami.
I have a super long day ahead of me. Super long night, day.
It's going to be like a 24-hour plus travel day.
Right now, I'm actually trying to cross the longest bridge in Kuwait.
One of the longest bridges in the world. It's called the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Seba Causeway.
And it was named after the 13th Emir of Kuwait.
This is a 48.5 kilometer long causeway.
It costs $3 billion and it's basically going to connect Kuwait City with the future Silk City,
which is a city that's going to be built across the Bay of Kuwait.
Now, we're sort of lost right now. We're trying to cross, but it's been really, really hard to get on top.
It's like this huge causeway, as you can see right in front of me.
But we can't get up there. We're just trying and trying and trying.
Once we're done crossing the bridge, I'm going to come back and go straight to the airport.
I have a flight at 5 in the morning to Doha.
Then at 8.25, I have a flight to Miami. 16-hour flight.
It's going to be really long. Did you figure it out?
Yeah.
Dude, it's been insane. We've been going around for like 25 minutes. What is this?
It's okay.
I know, I know. We've been going in circles.
You good, man?
Yeah, good. All good.
Let's do this, man. Let's find it.
Hello, David. So, finally, we're out in...
Finally.
It was actually like an hour we were looking for it. It was forever, dude.
So, we just made it. Finally, we're passing the port right here.
And here we are. And the lights never end, dude. 48.5 kilometers.
There's like 30 minutes, right?
Yeah.
So, it cuts the time from like 90 minutes to 30 minutes.
Yeah.
Wow. Wow, dude. Look at this.
So, crossing this bridge is epic. It's so long.
We've been on it already like 10 minutes and it feels like nothing.
You can see the skyline over here to the right.
We have the windows down. The wind's hitting hard.
You know, we're crossing the Bay of Kuwait.
Yeah. And Kuwait, you know, you can show them.
Wow. Right there?
Yeah.
We are seeing another Kuwait, you know. See?
This here is the Kuwait city.
I guess if it takes you about an hour and a half to get to the next part of the bay,
it separates the country because the country is very small.
You know?
Wow. So, it is the other half.
Two stops, you know. One here, on the right, on the left.
Like this.
So, you see both sides.
Yeah. And in the future, they'll put the gas stations.
Okay.
Gas stations, cafe like this, you know.
They are just opening right now.
Oh, yeah.
Newmont, Firefront.
I mean, basically, if you get on this bridge empty gas, you're done.
Yeah.
You don't make it. You don't make it.
All right, guys. So, actually, North Island's closed.
All the bridges are closed for some reason.
I think it's because it just opened, and they don't want to have it open at night,
especially when no one's there.
So, we're going to get off really fast.
I'm just going to literally see.
Whoa. Whoa.
Look at this.
We used to build this thing.
We're the longest in the world and one of the longest bridges overseen.
The cars are like black.
Thank you. Thank you.
Let's go.
So, we made it to North Kuwait.
And from here, we have to do a U-turn.
Or we can keep going to which island is this?
Popiat.
Or there's also a road.
Kuwait Farms, you know?
Kuwait Farms? Okay.
The farm was full.
There was, you know, a hard time to go two hours like this.
And now, it's easy, yeah?
Safe route.
On this side, it's super windy.
It's crazy wind.
His hair's flying.
My eyes can't even, like, I can't even be here because my eyes hurt.
They really hurt.
Wow, a lot of wind.
And over here, we have the moon.
Perfect, dude.
What a great day.
Incredible.
Kuwait, we did it.
We did it.
Inshallah, we see you guys again.
Inshallah.
So, this huge, I guess, whatever this is, the structure in front of us is lit up.
This is the center of the bridge.
Wow, look at this.
Blue, it changes colors.
This is awesome, man.
This is how you always know.
Cutting to the Bay of Kuwait.
Airport time.
20 minutes.
20 minutes?
Yeah.
That's what it says?
There's two terminals here, Terminal 5 and Terminal 4.
Terminal 5 is only Kuwait Airlines.
They fly to, like, 40-plus nations around the world.
So, we're in New York, Paris, Switzerland, Cairo.
Awesome.
So, Terminal 5 is international, everybody.
Yeah.
100%.
Awesome.
Okay.
Qatar Airways, the best airline class in the world.
Are you ready for another adventure?
My God.
I've flown on Qatar Airways this year, like, one, two, three, like, eight times.
Oh, that's what it's like, huh?
No, but eight times across the pond, like, across from Miami.
I go back.
Taking off in two hours.
Got a one-hour flight, two-hour connection, 16-hour flight.
My man.
Hello.
Thank you, thank you.
Nice to meet you, David.
Nice to meet you.
Welcome every time.
Kuwait.
So fast, huh?
I know.
48 hours, right?
Yeah.
He's about to cry.
All right, guys, so we checked in, went through security, went all the way through, walked
around a little bit, walked around for, like, 20 minutes, all duty-free, saw some places
you could eat, then made it all the way to my gate, went through second security, went
through, got here to sit down, and now I'm chilling.
So, Kuwait International Airport opened in 1979.
They're actually building a second one right now, which will be the main one, and it's
going to be huge.
This one's very small, as you can see, just, like, 26 gates.
That's it.
Very, very compact.
The next one's going to be really, really big.
And, yeah, guys, I have a flight to Qatar.
It leaves at 5.
It's 4.10 in the morning, so 5 a.m.
You know, one-hour flight.
Basically, you're going to try to sleep for an hour, get there, have a two-hour connection,
take off, and luckily, I got the whole back row, so I'm going to be able to, like, relax
in the back.
Really good.
economy class Qatar Airways.
The best in the world.
Hey, how you doing?
Thank you.
Thank you so much.
Very good.
Well, guys, I passed out, and I woke up awake.
I got to sleep.
So tired.
It's 6.20 in the morning right now.
I have exactly two hours before I take off.
8.25 to take off.
Yeah, this is Qatar.
Qatar.
The gateway to the world.
That's a nice one.
Where are you guys from?
India.
Nairobi.
Oh, Kenya.
I heard India.
This is really funny.
They have, like, a T-Rex here and one of the flying birds, but I don't think this is Jurassic
Park.
This is, like, some dinosaur display.
Random.
This airport is huge.
Huge.
Like, it never ends.
The teddy bear's iconic, you know, symbol of the airport, and you go through here.
I'm in C5.
C5.
Where is it?
Oh, it's right here.
Miami boarding?
Pre-boarding, sir.
Pre-boarding.
So, we just made it here to gate C5, and just so you guys know, when you fly Qatar Airways,
when you get here to Qatar, when you're going to your next flight, you have, like, pre-boarding,
and you have to go through security, and security's, like, really, really intense.
I mean, you have to take everything out.
Laptop, drone, everything.
The laptop cover off.
I mean, it's super, super, like, I mean, legit, but it's a little too much.
But, yeah, so I'm here.
I'm sitting in zone one.
Just waiting to board the flight.
Got a long one.
Got a long one ahead of us.
If you've never done a 16-hour flight, get ready.
They're intense.
But, this is, like, my eighth this year.
Not so bad.
Gonna keep going.
Thanks, dude.
We're now boarding.
It's, uh, we're actually boarding a little late.
We're supposed to be boarding at 7.30 to 7.50.
We're supposed to take off in 40 minutes from now.
But it's good.
I think we'll still take off in time because this flight's basically empty.
When I checked in in Kuwait, they told me the plane was half empty, so I got an entire
row in the back.
And when I got there right now, somebody was sitting next to me, so I was like, damn, you
know, I'm not gonna have an entire row.
This is crazy.
So, I waited.
As soon as they said, like, on the announcements that the entire plane was full, I went looking.
I found four rows.
I jumped on one.
This is 29, A, B, and C.
So, I've got three seats to myself.
I can, like, lay out, watch movies, eat.
I'm gonna actually drink a wine right now because I was in Kuwait and that's the driest
day.
I haven't had alcohol in, like, three days, but I don't really need it, but I really want
one right now.
It's like I really need a wine just to, like, sleep well.
I miss, like, 10 plus hours on this flight.
It's a 16-hour flight.
I have endless entertainment.
Amazing food.
Staff is really nice.
I mean, you can't beat Qatar Airways.
They're the best, best economy class in the world, guys.
I mean, I say it every time I fly them.
I just believe in them.
There's no better airline that has this level in economy class.
None.
All right, guys, I'm gonna watch Godzilla, King of the Monsters, have a wine, eat some
food, and pass out.
And they pass out.
One thing I love about Qatar Airways economy class is they always give you a menu for your
meals, right?
All right, so after a super, super, super long flight, we're here in Miami.
It took 16 hours, roughly like 15 and a half.
I mean, they sped up a little bit.
It was a super long flight.
I mean, the only way to do it is with Qatar.
If you're flying from Miami to Asia, anywhere in Asia, you have to go this route.
I mean, it's the fastest way.
16 hours and you connect, unless you go through, like, Dallas and then go to, like, I don't
know, Japan, China, somewhere like that.
But yeah, I mean, super long day.
I mean, we started off in Kuwait.
Saw the longest bridge in Kuwait.
Then I traveled for basically like 30 hours almost, something like that.
I mean, I don't even know.
I don't know how long it's been.
I just know that right now it is 5.30 in the afternoon here in Miami.
Qatar Airways cannot be beat.
You have to travel with Qatar Airways when you travel from Miami to Asia.
