I'm going to make a beautiful sunflower piece using a tool you would never expect and I'm
sure pretty much all of you might find in the kitchen. That's right, now stick around until
the end of the video to see how it worked out. I think this one is really special and the colors
I will be using today are also yellow deep, I like the name. It doesn't look like that because
I added lots of titanium white to it. We've got gold, we've got bronze as well, that's the
leftover from my latest animal, burnt umber with some yellow and white. I intermixed them,
a lighter version. This is the color that I used last week for my crazy colorful flower.
The most colorful flower ever and I've also have some leftover greens, that's phthalo green with
white, this is pale green with white and a bit of yellow. Tiny bits of paint but I don't need much,
I don't think I need much. With a hair dryer I only made fantasy flowers, not a very specific
flower but this time I'm aiming at an actual sunflower. I'll show you the consistency of the
paints, very very runny. One part of paint, I would say two parts of floetrol but I don't measure
anything and quite a lot of water. Checking if they're all runny, yes. I hope you can see that
this is not pure white. Let me spread it a bit. It's very important that the paint will glide
towards the edges. I could cover everything but I don't think there's any point in the middle
because there's going to be enough color. This is the color that I'll probably see the most so how
do I want the petals? Let's say that this is the center roughly and then the petals will be
somewhere like this. I can even do that. There we are, so what do you think? If you enjoyed this one
please let me know in the comments. I wonder if I can kind of draw them like this. Okay that's
something new. Let's try and blow them like this. Of course they'll get bigger but maybe
maybe that's that's a good idea. I've never done it this way of course. Oh this is gold.
Maybe even here. Okay a bit of that. I also have this crazy orange from last week that I'm
not sure what I should add or not. A little bit. Yeah somehow. It's honestly probably too crazy.
I don't know if I want to see that. Now the greens. Greens can go anywhere here. I am adding
a bit more let's call it cream because I've noticed there were some gaps. Okay I love this.
This is my favorite. Now there's definitely not enough white. I want to see where the middle
section is going to be. Somewhere here. I might even leave it like this. I need to block some of
paint off. More green. This one. I love it now. As usual I'm drying super quickly.
Some shimmering gold and now I'm going to analyze the patterns and decide where the petals will go.
I mixed very light yellow. I was thinking of using a pencil but then perhaps this is going
to be seen better. So I'm going to let's say sketch the petals. Definitely there's something here
that appeals to me. So I am going to use this as part of the petal's edge. I also have to decide
how long the petals are going to be. When the background is dry you can make any mistake you
want and you can easily wipe it off. And I'm going to do the same all around. These ones are
going to be shorter. That's the way I was using the hair dryer because remember the flowers
that's the angle. So we'll have short petals here and longer on this side. I want them a little bit
I think I'll have two more layers at the bottom. All right so see you once the white is all painted
around. I think they are roughly mapped out and now I am going to add some more vibrant yellow.
I'm probably going to cover every individual one especially the lighter ones with yellow.
It's so nice having that sort of imaginary sunflower in the background already makes it
way easier to paint. It's not going to be very vibrant yet because that's the first layer. I've
decided to actually use a bit of orange and brown to add darker areas because I think we are going
to see way better with this option. And later on of course I am going to add more shadows in places.
Just enjoying this peaceful application. I don't want the image to be too clear in a way. I want
something quite subtle so I'm not going to outline all of them very clearly. Probably not.
I'm adding a small amount of burnt umber in between some petals just to see some shadows.
Burnt umber is not so red. See like here now we can see that this petal is actually behind the
first one. Do you see how nicely the petals are separated now with the darker color in between
some shadows. The one thing I don't want to do, I don't want to make the edges really pronounced
so I'm trying to show this part and this is going to be sort of fading into the background.
I am almost finished with the petals. They do need some stripes because that's the pattern
in real life. Cute stripes. Sunflower is ready I believe. Time to add a stem. I've got the same
poured acrylics I used here. Okay this is dark so the main stem will go here because this is the
greenest darkest part. They are thick those stems and this is one of those little leaves coming
from directly from the head of the sunflower. I think I've said it many times but I love
painting on a poured background because the shapes of the background are already guiding me.
That's it. I might leave it like this. I left this line because it should be here but let me
let me curve it a little bit. Something like that. I do have some yellow and the petals here.
Might use it. Some highlights. I'm really happy with the partially abstract element of this
painting really and now that leaves me with the midsection and I have to look for some tool
maybe some pattern that will help us create the midsection. I would like to see some textures
well not only pattern and look what I came across in the kitchen of all places. This is a silicone
pastry brush but it's also used for basting meat, spreading oil on the pan and I'm going to use it
to dab some paint. It's got very interesting endings how we can create some little dots all
around just like this. Dab dab dab. Nice circle. I love the fact that the circles are not perfect
and we do get a little bit of texture as well. So I'll continue and apply this all around. Maybe
I'm going to buy another one and actually cut it in half to to be able to get into small areas.
So one circle is going to be darker and then I'm going to change the color and then apply my dots
in the in the middle. That was burnt amber. Now burnt sienna. I washed my lovely brush
and I'm going to add a couple more here in between to get some depth and another color.
Layers always look good. Look at those marks. All I want now is yellow ochre.
Thanks to this brush everything was very soft. This doesn't only create some little dots they
are almost kind of 3D. Not super big but just quite soft on top of the painting. That's even
better. This part should be even darker. That's what I think. I'm not 100 sold on Mars black here
but if I use raw umber. Let's have a look. That's the difference. Much darker. Let's try this and
I can always add some black on top. Oh look sunflower seeds. Yes sunflower seeds.
One of the best things ever. Who's a fan of sunflower seeds as well? I wonder. Let me know in
the comments. Maybe it's just me. The last things I am fluffing it up a little bit more
using a very thin brush. I was about to say I finished and then I realized yes there was
quite a lot of gold in the background and I didn't add any golden dots here. I have to and
that's a perfect perfect color for a couple of those little dots. You can't even tell the
difference but at an angle you'll see. I will wait a couple of days and then time for varnish
and you can have it if you go to my website abcreativeofficial.com. Honestly I'm very proud
I hope he's going to find a loving home. I don't have space in my lounge
so you can grab it quickly from my website. There we are. So what do you think? Let me know in the
comments what kitchen utensil I should use next. I'm only half kidding and don't forget to check
out my Patreon for extended versions of my tutorials and you can own this beautiful flower
or any other of my original art when you head over to my website abcreativeofficial.com. Also
I would like to wish all of you a wonderful happy Easter. See you all in two weeks time.
