Dr. Joe Dispenza explains how the body resists changing familiar patterns, creating a physical struggle when attempting to break old habits and emotions. Discover how to navigate this uncomfortable void between the known and unknown to consciously rewire the brain.
And unfortunately, we gotta have the crisis,
the diagnosis, the loss, the betrayal, the shock.
You know, finally we would get knocked to our knees
and we're just like, ow, this really hurts.
I think I'm gonna have to change.
Ugh.
And the hardest part about change
is not making the same choice as you did the day before.
And get ready, the moment you decide
to make a different choice,
is I don't care what habit or what belief
or what emotion you wanna change,
the moment you say I'm not gonna complain
because happy people don't complain,
I'm not gonna judge, I'm not gonna make excuses,
not gonna feel sorry for myself
because that doesn't make me happy,
that's not loving to me.
5% of the conscious mind, yeah, let's go.
95% says, it'll last 10 minutes.
We just need a little traffic,
we just need a little scrolling, whatever.
No, he'll just default right back to that character again.
You say, I'm not gonna do any of those things,
body's going like, okay, yeah, right.
You've been feeding me all this suffering all this time,
you're just gonna stop, are you kidding me?
Let me help you out here.
Let me start sending information to the brain
for you to remember the things that you suffered from.
And all of a sudden, the war's gonna begin.
Body's gonna tell the mind, you're a loser,
you'll never change, it didn't work last time,
I hate Dr. Joe, it's your mother's fault,
my back, all that stuff.
I need a brain scan, something's wrong with me.
You know, all of that stuff, you know what?
I want you to know that's when you give up on you.
I want you to know that's the end
of your belief right there.
Because the belief then that people have
is I can't meditate.
They say, I can't do this, it's too hard.
And they excuse themselves from change.
Because the moment the body is telling the mind,
come on, suffer a little bit, come on.
Tomorrow's a better day.
You got all these reasons to suffer,
look at this person next to you,
you don't like them anymore, all of that.
And if you believe in that thought,
you accept that thought, you surrender to that thought
without analyzing it, it slips by your awareness,
you're gonna make the same choice,
you're gonna demonstrate the same behavior,
you're gonna create the same experience,
feel the same emotion, and then people say,
oh, this feels right, this feels right to me.
No, that feels familiar.
Going from the old self to the new self,
there is a neurological, there is a biological,
there's a chemical, there's a hormonal,
there's a genetic death of the old self.
A part of you must die.
Do you understand that?
And it is uncomfortable.
Because the moment you decide to make a different choice,
you're stepping from the known into the unknown.
And the body wants nothing to do with that.
It wants to cling to the familiar.
And it tries to convince the brain there is no future.
Come on, are you with me?
And that's when people give up on themselves,
and that becomes their habit.
I want you to sit in the fire.
And I want you to be curious.
Do you really wanna believe that thought any longer?
I want you to get so conscious of that,
I can, it's too hard, I'll never change,
that you would never go unconscious
to that thought again in your life.
Are you listening?
And I know I'm just making stuff up here now.
Let's just say you spend 8.39 hours
on your device every day.
I don't know, I'm making it up.
And you do that all the time.
I'm just saying, you do that a lot.
And what's a habit?
When you do something over and over again, yes?
So you could be in the middle of your meditation.
But that's the end of a person's belief in themselves.
They have to go back to their phone and scroll.
They give up on themselves again.
And I want you to know that right on the other side of that
is the unknown.
And that's the body trying to talk you back
into the familiar self.
And I promise you, if you wake up every morning
and you go through the news and you get all around
at eight o'clock every morning,
your body's gonna be like,
what the hell's going on here?
It's eight o'clock, let me help you out.
I'll get you aroused without it.
Come on, are you with me?
Being curious, what's on the other side
of that emotion is freedom.
And you gotta sit with yourself.
You gotta be so conscious of your unconscious thoughts
that when you leave this place,
you would never go unconscious to them again.
You would have to become so aware of how you speak,
how you act.
You would have to become so aware of the habit of you
that you would not default and go back to behaving
as if you were in your past.
And the only way you're gonna,
listen, we discovered, listen to this.
The only way you get really good at becoming conscious,
listen to this, is not looking at the horoscopes,
none of that stuff.
The way you get really good at becoming conscious
is catching yourself going unconscious, period.
Because nobody's gonna do that for you.
No one is gonna do that but you.
Are you with me still?
And so then, if you can observe your thoughts,
you could notice your actions and behaviors.
If you could become aware of how you're feeling,
it means theoretically you're no longer the program.
Because when you're the program, you're unconscious.
And now you're conscious of your unconscious self
and we begin to objectify our subjective self.
Now check this out, I'm gonna be really honest with you.
It takes a lot of energy and it takes a lot of awareness
to stay present as tedious as it is in the beginning.
Sooner or later, it's no longer David versus Goliath.
As you start disentangling from those programs,
now you are no longer the program.
And we discovered that when you go past that point,
you know, past the point where you're good,
where you're done, when you go past that point
where you think you're done,
that's when you make your greatest changes
because that's the unknown.
And going from the old self to the new self,
that biological, that neurological, that chemical,
that hormonal, genetic death of the self,
we have data to show that there's massive deconstruction
going on on a cellular level.
And if you're not gonna white knuckle it
in that void and the unknown, that vacuum,
that's the place to create from.
What thoughts do I wanna fire and wire in my brain?
Or better yet, what do I wanna believe?
And what is a belief?
A thought you just keep thinking over and over again
until it's hardwired in your brain.
Come on, you with me?
That means then you would have to remember
to think that way and have to keep remembering
to think that way, to keep remembering
and have to think that way.
And if you keep remembering to think that way,
nerve cells that fire together,
and if you keep doing it,
the hardware becomes a software program,
that's the new voice in your head.
That's the new voice you program
that you can believe in your future,
you can believe in your health,
you can believe in your change,
whatever that is, your abundance, whatever that is.
No one's gonna install that for you, you have to.
You gotta remember to think that way
and all you need is intention and attention.
