How's it going everybody?
Toby wants to say hello!
Tell everybody,
that it's Fan Friday!
Say, oh! It's rainy and yucky!
But, at least we get to film outside today.
It stopped raining just long enough
for us to film Fan Friday!
Friday!
Victoria wants to know,
have Shiloh, Shelby or Oakley ever chased their tail?
Have they ever run or barked in their sleep?
Um... I've never really seen
any of them chase their tail.
Not any of them.
What are you looking at Shelby?
As for barking in their sleep,
I have heard Shelby bark and whine
many times in her sleep.
Oh! She must think there's something back there.
There's really nothing back there.
Sorry! Squirrel's not there.
Cheryl says,
Oakley and Shiloh don't seem to interact very much.
Is this true?
Or is this just what we see on video?
Um...
They don't really interact much.
I mean, they lay down next to each other.
They walk next to each other.
As for playing, they really don't do much for playing.
Apparently, they are going to sniff each other's butts
like they never met each other before.
What? Really?
They don't really interact much with each other
when it comes to playing.
It's mostly Shelby and Oakley.
It's the same thing with Shiloh and Oakley.
Or Shiloh and Shelby.
They don't interact all that much
unless they are playing either.
Tony wants to know and a couple of other people
have actually asked this too.
Why no boys?
Oh! Really?
Because Oakley's a girl and Shiloh's a girl
and Shelby's a girl.
There's really no reason as to why we have no boys.
We just ended up with girls.
Nothing against boy dogs. We just have girl dogs.
Rachel says,
In an earlier video, you talked about how Shiloh
was very scared and timid when she was younger.
How did you get her out of her shell?
Yes! When Shiloh was younger,
when she was a baby, up until
she was probably around two years old,
she was very scared of people,
noises, pretty much everything.
Everything loud, anything different.
She freaked out. All we really did
is we kind of forced her to go
everywhere with us.
If she freaked out too much,
we'd go back home. We took a lot of treats
with us and we would take her to the park
with us. When we lived in Arizona, we lived
right down the street from Petco.
We would take her to Petco.
We would take her everywhere we could
where she could be exposed to people.
She could be exposed to other dogs.
Slowly but surely,
her confidence built up.
Eventually, she became the dog you see today.
A lot of people don't believe that
Shiloh used to be afraid of everybody.
She liked Jamie and I.
She liked our family.
People would come over our house and she would run away.
It just took a lot of time.
It takes a lot of time to heal a damaged dog.
There goes Shelby!
What are you doing you crazy dog?
Charlotte says,
I saw a video on YouTube
of a guy walking a Husky
on a treadmill. Do you think it's safe?
We used to have a treadmill and we had slowly
started training Shelby to walk on it.
The only reason we got rid of it was because we didn't
really have the room for it in our other house.
I wish I would have kept it because I have room for it in the new house.
It is safe. It's not something
you can't just let them walk on it and walk away.
It's something you definitely have to be there the whole time
they're walking on it.
It is safe and it is a nice alternative
if the weather is cold and you can't
get out and walk them. It definitely helps
get that extra energy out of them.
Stacy wants to know,
How long did it take you to potty train your dogs?
With Shiloh, it probably took me about
two weeks. She had it figured out real fast.
With Shelby...
We got Shelby when she was
six weeks old.
It probably took us about a month with Shelby.
I think it was just because she was a little bit younger.
Shiloh was twelve weeks old when we got her
so she was a little bit older.
The biggest keys for this
crate train. If you don't know how to crate train,
Google crate training. One of these days I'll do a video
explaining how to do it.
With the crate training help, you have to be persistent.
You just have to keep on
and you have to pick a method
and keep with it. Don't keep changing your method
otherwise they'll get confused.
Patricia wants to know,
Is it cheaper to make Shiloh's food rather than
buy commercial dog food?
No! It is not cheaper to make
Shiloh's food rather than buy commercial dog food.
But Shiloh has ups and downs
with her digestive system and sometimes
we have to make food for her. But she is actually
back on Canada All Life Stages
dog food and she's been doing really
well with it. I actually feed her a combination
of the All Life Stages and their new formula.
They have a Pure Elements formula.
She gets the Pure C.
I feed her half that because it's grain free
and half Canada All Life Stages.
She's been doing really well on it.
It is cheaper than feeding her
homemade food. Her homemade food is very
expensive but she's worth
every penny. In the mail
today we got a Halloween card from Angie
and Zorro. We got a Halloween card and we got
a drawing for Shelby!
Just for you Shelby! And Angie wants to know
what Shelby's favorite food is.
Shelby pretty much likes everything.
I would have to say her least
favorite food would probably be carrots.
But I don't know where she went.
Other than that she pretty much likes everything.
We also got a drawing
of Shelby and Shiloh from Kristen.
She sent us a picture of her dog Gabby.
She said she didn't draw a picture of Oakley
because she didn't want us to be confused.
You are right! Shiloh and Oakley are the same color.
Sometimes it's hard to tell them apart. Unless you see them in person.
Right? Right Shelby?
Shelby is easy to tell apart.
She's totally different in color.
We also got some dog treat recipes
from our friend Beth. We're going to have to
try those out. Make a video with some dog treats.
What you think? Want to make dog treats?
Thanks Beth for sending those to us.
I'll definitely be trying those out.
Oh look at you sitting there pretty girl.
