And you'd have to think that the Liam Lawson that's sitting right there right now,
if you took you right now and took you back to March of 2025, I'm sure that you would be more
well-equipped to handle the situation that you found yourself in. You got tested, dude.
You got held to the flame and you survived. You lived and you're still in the dance.
And I think that that level of pressure, like the kind of crucible that you were in,
that would have changed you as a person. And the amount of growth that you would have done
in 12 months, it's like years worth of growing. And I think that you'd have to be grateful for
that in a sense. I think that goes with anything. It goes with having a driver that has had a hard
career, somebody that's had to fight for things, somebody that's not always been in the best teams,
not always been in the best car, somebody that at the end of the day, if you survive something
that's harder or worse, you always end up being better for it. And in that sense, yeah, I'm
grateful for, I think it's probably what helped me even get to Formula One in the first place.
It starts from day one, honestly. And starting go-karts as a kid, my first go-kart was the
worst go-kart you've ever seen, dude. This thing was so bad. It had a rainbow steering wheel.
It was wood.
Honestly, the seat might've actually been made out of wood. And my first year of go-karting,
I think I finished last solidly every single race. And I would complain to my dad, man, like,
dad, the engine sucks. Like I can't, you know, and my dad doesn't know racing. So to be honest,
I think he thought I was ----, to be honest. But I'd been pestering him for so long to just,
and finally he invested in these two really good engines. Like this is still cadet class,
entry, you know, first class. Got these two engines and bolted them on for this. We went
to the big event, like a lot of good guys there. And I remember just the, I remember looking at
them, like we went out, we put the engine on for qualifying and like looking at them, like, well,
this is it, you know, this is where we find out. And went from literally qualifying stone dead last
to qualifying first.
That must've been the biggest piece of ---- go-kart that you ever bought, dude.
It was, it was just the engine as well. Like it was, I still ran that go-kart with the rainbow
steering wheel, but I had a, uh, yeah, got a new engine and it just, yeah, went and qualified
first. And the funny thing is like we, I remember cause we had, we got two engines. One of them was
good. Like this engine was real good. And the other one was decent. And like the thing you do
is, you know, you don't run your, your A motor every single time, obviously, you know, you put
it on for the good weekends, but we had so much fun winning that we'd go to club days, number one
motor on the car, just ran this thing everywhere until it blew up. And then it was like, oh, now
what do we do? You know, this thing's, this thing's gone, you know, this thing that has been
helping us win for so long. Um, and then you kind of back to having something half decent and again,
you're fighting for it again. And it's just, I had that for so long, um, through, through all
the ranks, you know, trying to not always having the best gear. And I'm so thankful for that now
because it taught me how to race, taught me how to do that. Anybody that has never had that,
who's just always had the best gear, race craft is never going to be as good. It's always going to be.
Yeah. Yeah. If you, yeah. So to, to your point, to have gone through everything last year,
I'm extremely grateful to now to have gone through it because I know I learned so much
from it to go forward now and to. Yeah. And you just can't fake those lessons.
