My trip to India in November of 2018 is one of my favorite trips I’ve ever taken in my life. Everything about this country—its people, its history, its architecture, its food—has made me fall in love with it so much that I find myself wanting to go back again and again. This was my second trip to India, which I took with my good friend Sam from Samuel and Audrey, and I’m already planning a third trip for the spring of 2019!
With our time in Chennai coming to an unexpectedly quick end because of an approaching tropical cyclone, I decided to give you guys a quick tour of the Airbnb Sam and I stayed at before we headed off to the airport. Join me as I show you all of the amenities and rooms of our lavish apartment!
We started our day at 4 a.m. so we had plenty of time to get out of the city and head to our next destination, Kolkata. While we were in Chennai, Sam and I stayed at a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom luxury apartment in Ganapathy Colony locality in the city center.
It’s located in a very nice building with a gate, a car park, and a doorman who gives you your key when you check in. Staying cool in Chennai is key, as it was still 90 degrees even at 4 a.m. during the winter! I took the air-conditioned elevator up to our apartment, which was unit A3 on the third floor.
Inside, it’s very modern and spacious, with a nice couch, a small table, and TV in the living room. Just off the living room is a nice dresser that you can use for storage and across from that is the dining room, which contains a table, a closet, an ironing board, and a refrigerator.
One of the best things about this apartment is that there is air conditioning in each room, which makes the hot, sweltering weather much more manageable.
Next, I give you a look at the master bedroom, which is spacious and contains a big, comfortable queen-sized bed with nice pillows and tons of drawer and closet space for your things, which makes this a great place to spend multiple nights. There’s also a small workstation and a tiny terrace where you can open the windows. It’s my favorite master bedroom of the entire trip so far!
Off the master bathroom is a standard Indian bathroom. The great thing about this bathroom compared to the other ones we’ve had in India is that this one has a shower curtain, so you don’t get water all over the rest of the bathroom when you take a shower! There’s also a water heater, a sink with an extended faucet, and a medicine cabinet.
The second bedroom is smaller, with a queen-sized, lots of closet space, and a small table where you can work. Just off the bedroom is another standard Indian bathroom that’s actually larger than the one for the master bedroom, and has a door that opens to the living room.
Next up is the very modern kitchen, with a stovetop, double sink, cabinets filled with cups and bowls, a water purifier, a microwave, and a washing machine. It’s easily my favorite kitchen we’ve had on our trip so far!
Off the kitchen is a nice, little terrace, and outside the kitchen is a small sink where you can wash your hands. Religious hand-washing is essential when you come to India. You have to keep your hands clean!
As we wrap up the tour, I take a quick look back at my quick stay in Chennai, including the beautiful sites and attractions we visited as well as the delicious and spicy food we had there, especially the seafood. But now it’s time to look forward to Kolkata!

And here we have the master bedroom.
Nice and cold in here.
Another air conditioning.
Huge bed.
Hey, good morning everyone.
This is David Hoffman from David's Been Here
coming at you at four in the morning from Chennai, India.
I wanna give you a quick apartment tour today
before I head out to the airport and fly to Calcutta.
So basically we've been staying at a two bedroom,
two bath, luxury apartment here in the city center of Chennai.
As you can see, very nice building.
Right here we have a car park.
And the way it works is the gate, right?
You walk in and the guy gives you a key.
You get the key and let's go to the unit.
So there's a doorman always here.
He's right there.
And as soon as you check in,
he'll give you a key to your room
and he'll take you straight up.
We're on the third floor.
And because it's so hot, I need an elevator.
Right here, third floor.
Oh, thank God.
Lots of air conditioning.
It's pretty intense that it's like 90 degrees
right now outside and it is winter
and it's four in the morning.
That's how hot Chennai is.
We are in apartment 3A or A3.
Here we go.
Welcome to my two bedroom luxury apartment.
So as you can see, very modern, very spacious.
Right here we have a nice couch, TV.
This is the first time I'm sitting on this couch.
Okay, it's comfortable.
I could have slept here.
Got a little table here, need your stuff.
Over here, as you can see,
just like a little area for storage.
Put things in here if you need to.
Over here we have the dining area.
And here we have the fridge, right?
The only thing we have here is lots of water.
Hold on, I'm like too thirsty.
We need it, we need it.
Oh, I gotta leave this out for later.
Very nice, we also have another closet here, right?
This is a closet where they have a drying rack.
If you need to, you can hang your clothes, right?
Always essential.
The biggest plus for me about this place
is the air conditioning.
There's air conditioning in each room.
Look, air conditioning here, there,
and here we have the master bedroom.
Ah, nice and cold in here.
Another air conditioning.
Huge bed, oh, what is this, a queen?
I think it's a queen, I don't think it's a king.
Yeah, it's a queen.
Oh, that's amazing.
Very comfortable bed.
It's not too hard, just perfect.
The pillows are very nice as well.
As you can see, the bathroom, very standard bathroom.
So the way it works here, right?
You gotta shower, but the great thing about this place
is you got a separator,
so you don't get your toilet full of water.
Oh, stinky.
And here we have the water heater.
Right here, you turn it on, right?
Soon as you see the red light, you give it 20 minutes,
and then you have hot water.
Very standard faucet.
You can leave stuff up here if you want to.
I never do that, just because I don't wanna leave anything.
Lots of closets, this place.
Like, lots of closets, this place.
This place really thought about this.
They want people to stay here for many days.
Like, long stays.
It's like, double.
Same thing twice.
Wow, I could've really unpacked here
for 48 hours already, right?
You even have stuff up top, too.
Yeah, yeah.
It's crazy, man.
Huge, I mean, lots of storage space.
And over here, we also have a little office area right here.
So, brought a chair here.
Do some work here, put everything in.
And this, I like, this little area for the,
you know, like a tiny little terrace here.
There's a, you can open the windows,
but what I did here is I opened my carry-on.
Nice spot for that.
Move this, and I put my luggage here, open that there.
Lots of space to open.
Of all the master bedrooms on the trip, this is my favorite.
Let's go see the other room.
It's a little smaller, a little tighter,
but it does the job, right?
Yeah, I survived in here.
I know.
Just kidding, it was great.
Queen-size bed.
Yeah.
Lots of closet space again.
Lots of closet space.
Look at that.
Hang everything up.
And really, the best part about this place is this.
Oh, yeah.
Air conditioning, air conditioning all the way.
Oh, yeah.
You have a little table here
if you really need to work here.
I prefer working on the dining area so we can talk.
You know, like a community area.
My bathroom.
This bathroom, that's pretty big compared to mine.
Lot more space, but this also has a door
to the living room.
So if you have guests, they can come in through here.
That's always a perk.
And then here, another separator.
Bathtub, heater, toilet, faucet.
I think the only thing left right now is the kitchen.
Let's go over there.
Okay, and here we have the kitchen.
The best kitchen I've had on this trip.
Very modern kitchen.
You can cook your eggs right here.
Stove top.
Faucet.
Here we have cups, bowls.
I mean, they leave everything for you if you need it.
And you also have a water purifier right here as well.
That's always a plus in India
because you don't want to drink the water from the faucet.
So it's an old school washing machine.
Yeah, I mean, at least it's a washing machine.
We didn't have to do it this time
because we did it in the last Airbnb we stayed in.
But this is great.
You know, if you're on a long trip,
you can wash right here.
You don't have to go for a laundromat
or ask your Airbnb to do it for you.
It's great.
There's also a terrace.
I'll show you that.
It's a little dark right now, but there's a terrace.
Four in the morning, guys.
Four in the morning.
Oh, wow.
Amazing.
And there's also a little faucet here,
and this is great because in India,
there's always a place to wash your hands.
You have to wash your hands, like religiously.
And here we go.
I think that's it.
This is our amazing two-bedroom, two-bath
luxury apartment in Chennai.
What I love about Chennai was the food.
There are some things to see,
like Marina Beach, second longest beach in the world.
We went to an amazing temple.
It dates back to the 7th century.
We just had so many delicious things here.
And something I gotta say about this place
is that this place has the spiciest food
I've had in India by far.
And the best part about it is that we're on the sea,
like on the coast.
So we get seafood.
This is the first time I try seafood in India.
This is my, I think, in between both trips,
like day, I don't know, 30 something.
And yeah, first time trying seafood.
Even in Mumbai, I didn't try seafood,
which is pretty weird.
But yeah, I mean, awesome place.
Definitely recommend it.
Explore Tamil Nadu next time.
I wanna explore deeper into the state.
And yeah, guys, I hope you love this video.
And if you did, give it a thumbs up.
